Electro Harmonix Micro POG 5-stars Reviews
The Best Octaver!
Just awsome octave sounds this dude can make! Great for guitars or bass, records super well never problems with it!
A great Octaver
Not much to say.. I wanted this pedal for a while to get those unique sounds it does. I personally prefer this tone vs other octave pedals but this is of course a thing of personal taste.
If you want that slightly digital vibe (but warmer than Digitech) that sounds really cool and unique with an octave pedal than to me this is it.
Plus you know Josh Homme uses it so it has to be at least good or cool sounding ;)
Amazing pedal
Absolutely loved the pedal. Two outputs (dry and effects) are very useful. I personally use this pedal with two amps for both signals and have tons of fun. With dry knob you can even turn of dry sound for effects output and leave only, let's say, octave above sound. Works like a charm when I want to distort my bass higher notes on guitar amp. Pedal also track really, really well. Haven't had any issues with that, even when I bent strings on my bass guitar. Overall I would recommend this pedal for any one who needs octave pedal, not only it's fun, it also inspires to create new music and really play with pedal and try out things :)
Classic is classic!
I already had a TC Sub'n'up, but Micro POG gives a very different flavour in its sound texture and response. I can't say which is better than another, but I do feel POG has a slightly lower latency than TC's pedal. I hook it up on my 9V 400mA power module (Voodoo ISO-5), and it works very well.
Is there a God, or even a Бог?! Dunno, but there’s definitely a POG and it takes you to diminished seventh heaven and other harmonic landscapes with a smooth, fluid tone, AND it’s made in Noo Yoik! I love the blend which gives a fluid organ tone, makes 9s sound massive.
it responds better to high output pickups and i had issues with the on off switch, but a spot of WD40 fixed it...
Just perfect.
Great gear. There is nothing I can catch for cons. Thats all I can tell you!
Very handy little pedal
The EHX Micro POG is a great little octave pedal, providing the basics you need at a decent price. As always with EHX, it is sturdily constructed. The controls are basic and intuitive, you're ready to go in seconds. I use this with my bass and when paired up with an EHX Bass Big Muff to give a very quick "cheap and cheerful" version of the Royal Blood sound. There is a very slight effect on the tone of the note as it comes through but not as much as a Morpheus Droptune, for example. Of course, with some fuzz later in the pedal you don't really notice. Tracking is very good compared with other octave pedals. At this price, you really cannot go wrong.
Simple and effective
Does waht it is supposed to do
Adds something really nice to my double bass sound (using the up octave)
Using the cown octave I actually get a really cool overdrive sound.
100% recommended
Powerful
This thing is awesome. Crank up the volume on your valve amp, put some overdrive in front of it and plug in a guitar with humbucker pickups and you'll melt some faces. This pedal produces an unbelievably beefy, wide 3-octave output which is very much unique. It doesn't just sound like an octave'd guitar, it sounds like a different instrument - many times very organ-like. I've many times used this when playing cover gigs to simulate Deep Purple-style organ and it works really well if you play the right notes. It's however important to know that this pedal doesn't make everything sound good; you have to find your technique while using it.
A delightful pedal to experiment with and to produce a really wide sound range with just one guitar, and it combines well with other guitar effects. The build quality is sturdy, knobs very precise. A great buy if you're already happy with all your essential effects and want to try something new.
Why would you buy anything else?
If you're looking for a small pedal with excellent (and polyphonic) tracking then this is it. I use it for ambient chordal swells, and to make my guitar sound more like an organ. I was thinking about buying the POG2, but I realised I could achieve what I needed with this pedal.
Sturdy, small footprint, not too "artificial" sounding, true bypass, and the ability to individually adjust each octave - perfect!
Best for tracking
The octaves here are really natural sounding. I have used this to subtle effect on my guitar, and not so subtle on mandolin! It can thicken things out slightly, or give you a full on organ sound. Either way, there's something to fit my mood. One slight criticism would be that not every jack cable stays well connected - I've bought a few different brands and have problems with it coming unplugged, but a fellow musician uses a POG too and has no problems.
awesome
Seen a lot of people using this octave generator, watched a lot of review videos, and when I finally got this on my hand. . . great!
It feels light and hollow, but it does what it needs to do.
Brilliant effect
I really like this one. I don´t have much experience with effects but have been trying some stuff lately.
And best to mention I´m a bass player.
Fiddling around with it is fun as by twisting the knobs gives you big difference in sound. I tried few other octave pedals before buying this one but could not find anything that sounded as good.
I like to use it with a Fulltone bass drive and then once in a while throw in some wahwah for screaming crazy sound
Sound amazing!
I was specifically looking for a bass octave pedal that could add an octave above what I played, instead of the traditional sub-effect.
The Micro PUG isn’t that advanced you have knobs for the lower octave, the upper one and a clean signal blender.
Most of the times I use this pedal together with a distorted pedal and a compression-pedal when I do a lot of tapping lick/solos.
I run my signal like this: Bass – Micro PUG – Distortion pedal – Compression pedal, which makes the bass stand out A LOT. So for you soloist and rock bass player, if you want to outshine the guitar players, get one of these!
MicroPog
Solid construction as with all EHX gear. Simple but very effective pedal. Both the octaves up and down can be blended to your own taste individually. I use the octave down mostly and i find that it does not give me a muddy sound and it retains clarity better than most other octave pedals. The upper octave is a bit too metallic on the more extreme setting for my tastes, but you can get a nice 12-string guitar or organ sound with right bit of tweaking. As with all octave pedals, tracking can be an issue, but on this particular effect I find the tracking very quick and accurate.
Little helper for soloing
On decent settings, this pedal sounds awesome and thickens your sound on solo´s and atmospheric clean stuff. There is one mix knob and two other knobs for Octave up/down - really easy to understand and user friendly!
Best Octave ever
If you want a maxedout octave sound that beats all competitors for this price, get it!
Fantastic, but,,,,, not quite what I expected.
The micro POG is a truly fantastic product, it tracks perfectly on my 4 string Bass (EADG) both for the octave down as well as up. But here is the issue, the sound is amazing "IF" it is the sound you are looking for. if you are looking for an absolute true rendition of the note either one octave down or up, then be careful as the POG lends a very tuneful and slightly "organ" flavour to the note. Utterly cool if that is what you are looking for, but for me it was not quite what I was expecting. I also tried it on an electric tenor Ukelele with a mix of clean and sub octave, what a funky sound ! So, just be aware, the Micro POG is a superb tool creating some fabulous sounds, but it does have its own "colour". It is definitely going to get some use with the Ukelele, which was probably a million kilometres from the designers mind when they created it !!!
A overall very nice octaver
This thing really sounds very well, in both of it's octaves. It's very simple to use since you only have the volume of the dry, suboctave and octave up knobs to control. The solo sound of the suboctave can produce a kind of synth double bass quality of sound, quite usable, and the solo sound of the upper octave is kind of thin and metalic but you can make it work with a smooth reverb or a fat distortion. I use this pedal with a fretless jazz bass and it sounds great (and sometimes with Overdrive as well).
