As Funky as it gets!

This is a Funk machine! I have used it with electric guitar, bass and as well with keyboard. It really changes the game, even the simplest bass groove get funked up with this pedal.

That doesn't mean that you are limited only to Funk, it goes pretty well with some Rock, Jazz, Fusion. Sounds lovely with e-piano, e-wurlitzer, fm piano, electric organ, and of course what you already know with guitar and bass.

Hooks nicely with wah effect.

Metal robust construction.

A lot of fun, advantages and versatility for such an affordable price.

Basically that's it. You get what You see. It's a small cool looking and sounding filter, and it's relatively cheap.

However, I would love to have some bass or blend control on it.

For bass guitar it cuts a lot of bass frequencies when dist. is engaged. Other than that, it's a fun pedal to use.

Does what it is supposed to do

Why did I buy it?

I bought it as a device that could fill up the bass sound during guitar solos after hearing an envelope filter being used by Chris Kosnik.

Pros

Does what it is supposed to do.

Cons

I had to return it as it was not working and a replacement had to be sent. The return and replacement process was well handled.

Would I recommend buying it?

If you need one then yes.

Excellent effect pedal

Decent little envelope filter pedal, built like a tank, the only issue i'd mention is that it would be nice to have some control over the distortion settings. That being said, I never use the distorted sound.

Great Envelope Filter!

A bit of a one trick pony, but an absolute bargain for what it does! You can get really funky, or simply add a distortion or fuzz pedal and get a brilliant filtered synth effect. No popping or noise issues when in use for me, it's also built really well and takes up very little room on my pedalboard. Recommended!

Not bad

This sounds good if you're after this type of sound, but I didn't really need it so I got rid of it. But that's not the pedal's fault, it just wasn't a match for my music.

Amazing pedal!

This is a strange pedal, probably because I'm using it with a 8 stringed guitar.

it sounds amazing for some slipknot songs especially disasterpiece. It is very easy to use once you get your head around using it and how it works. It works with guitar and bass so it is very versatile. I would recommend this to anyone who like strange and unique sounding music, I find it works best with nu-mnu-metal and jazz, strange combination I know, but trust me it is a very unique and great sounding pedal! I wouldn't think twice about purchasing it if you want to create your own style or just mess around.

Good pedal

This is a good pedal. Most EHX pedals are. However I have never been able to use it in the band, since the sound does not fit. But it is a funny pedal, very simple with only a switch and a knob. But it is all you need. Robust design, high quality and easy to set up. Good stuff.

Funky and freaky, works with everything.

The Electro Harmonix Nano Bassballs is a pedal with two dynamic envelope filters. Externally it features a 'response' knob and a 'dist' flip switch. Inside there are two trimpots that will change the dynamics and response of the two filters.

I use the Bassballs for guitar, and have rated it for the use with a guitar.

Quality:

When I first got the pedal, I was very impressed with the light weight but still extremely sturdy construction. I would not be afraid of breaking it even during the harshest of gigs. I started out by opening the back to see if the battery was installed, but when I decided to screw it back up, the first screws threads were broken to the point where it was impossible to get it in. This seems to be a manufacturing fault, but it probably was just a single bad screw, since the other 3 went in there fine.

Sound:

The bassballs has a surprisingly versatile sound, which can be used with both high gain metal, clean funkyness, or even smooth sections of classic rock. Especially with the internal trimpots.

Features:

The distortion switch turns the response knob into a combined fuzz and response knob. This is quite easy to use, but a separate knob for the fuzz would have been preferable. The same for the trimpots, where external knobs would have been preferable, even if they're rarely manipulated when using one instrument.

Overall:

The Nano Bassballs is a fairly cheap but high quality pedal with a great but specific sound. It's small and should feel right at home on many pedal boards.

Electro Harmonix Nano Bassballs

A simply laid out but powerful pedal, just one knob and a switch for distortion on/off. Probably best used on solos as can get tedious when used all the time!! Likes batterys too so best to get the optional psu too

Electro Harmonix Nano Bassballs.

This pedal is simple, strong and easy to use. There is one switch (distortion on/off) and the turning know (response). The non-distortion mode offers a nice tone with a reverb-ish sound, very good to play some light stuff. The distortion mode offers a very new sound with a strange resonance. A very bright, punchy, grunt that is very entertaining. Although the sound is great, this tool does not fit too well with songs as it is a very strong and it needs to be heard completely and not covered by other instruments. I recommend the pedal for those who like to play alone or in the short moments of silence/solo in song playing.

nice little pedal, the closest pedal I could find to an envelope filter effect.
