Electro Harmonix Nano Big Muff 5-stars Reviews
Fuzzy Review
Awesome pedal. Original sound in small format. For a fuzz even through single coils it is silent as a grave, no audiable noise whatsoever. Great customer support and super fast delivery. 10/10.
Classic and perfect
It's great, you know how it sounds, it's perfect.
The white finish isn't to my taste though.
Same smooth sustain and versatility, now packed in a small box.
The same Big Muff everyone knows, but smaller. Same circuit and sound. And well priced.
Works great both before and after a wah pedal and interacts very "organically" with your playing style and your guitar volume and tone controls. It also shines when combined with other pedals, specially EQs and octavers, as it doesn't boost low frequencies too much.
You will get differnt sounds with different pickup types and positions and it's really easy to make it scream or sound mellow, or fat, or psychodelic, or agressive... It's a great fuzz and you'll have lots of fun playing with it.
Legendary fuzz pedal
Does what it has to do!
Wall of Fuzz.
This is my first Fuzz pedal and at first I thought there was something wrong with the pedal but then I discovered that at low volumes the pedal sounds horrible you really have to play it loud to let it shine. I plugged it in into my DSL1CR in front of the amp and it sounded horrible,I've tried effects loop and it was still the same then I've had an eureka moment and went from 0.1 watt setting to full 1 watt and the wall of fuzz smacked me in my face and I was a happy camper. These things are fiddly, you have to fiddle with settings both on the amp and the pedal to get the best results, what I do is I crank it all to eleven on the pedal and control the volume on the guitar as I like insanely fuzzed out sounds and it serves me well when I want to play some stoner stuff like HoF etc. You can go from slightly fuzzed sound to insanely fuzzed out,it's all there if you want it. It's small, well built, has great fuzz sounds and I'd recommend it no doubt.
Nano fuzz
Easy and versatile to carry. Tone might be slightly different from Big muff more into modern rather than vintage. Very solid sounding pedal.
It was a present
I bought it to my brother, because I wanted him to have a basic fuzz, so It was my first choice. I think it says enough about the reputation of this pedal. And we weren't disappointed. Boosted highs and lows, high quality sounds for many purposes. Its metallic for my taste, but you can dial it in quite easily.
Great sound
I used to have a big muff, but i sold my big muff to a flatmate. Now muffless i had to search for a new big muff. But I didn’t have much muff space. This nano muff is the perfect fit, and for people like me who like their muffs to come in all shapes and sizes i am very pleased with the results. As the kind of guy who appreciates all muffs I cant favour one muff over another based just on size, but the same goes for the sound on this muff. It sounds just like a big muff to me. Looks wise this nano muff is styled just like the big muff and it works very well. It’s built great and i expect this muff to last. If you’re in the market for a muff I’d recommend the nano muff.
It's a muff, but smaller
This does everything you would want from a big muff, but in a smaller box. I was surprised at how much like my old big box one it was.
Everything from Gilmour crying sounds up to Billy Corgan noise, this does it. Need endless feedbacking sustain? TUrn it up and hold your note.
Great bit of kit, love it.
Compact and affordable!
Still small and affordable version of the Big Muff gives so much power!
With just a bit of tweaking you can get tones nearly 100% close to the original Big Muff! from Creamy fuzz to super heavy distortion, this is a very versatile pedal!
Did I mention it was very affordable?
Great Fuzz
The only other fuzz I've had was a Tonebender derivative from the 70s so not really fair to put this up against you'd think, but this is way more usable and has a lot more scope for adjustment of tones compared to the 70s one I had.
This really hits the nail on the head for smashing pumpkins esq sounds and some grunge. Although I'll never be a fuzz convert (much prefer layered overdrive) this is a great well built pedal.
Recommended :)
Awesome pedal
The pedal is pretty awesome.
The build quality is pretty high, and pedal is very light.
The sound is awesome and quite versatile, from little to full fuzz.
It takes a while to figure out how all knobs influences tone, but once you get the gist of it it's really versatile.
I love pink floyd and this got me a good step closer to Gilmour's tone.
Big Muff in a tiny package
I had an original early 80s Big Muff, which I always enjoyed playing with. As anyone who owned the original can tell you, the original is housed in a hug casing with most of the inside empty apart from the battery compartment and a small board. Now this has been shrunk down to this pint-size version.
Frequency pickers might find slight differences between this unit and the original units, but in a band situation or in a mix recording you really cannot hear the difference. It takes up much less space on the pedal board, standard 9v power socket and a good healthy click to switch off and on.
I still have the same fun as I had with the original Big Muff, but in a much more user-friendly size.
Still in my view, Big Muff is the best fuzz you can buy and this gives you THE fuzz sound which you can pay a lot more for in other brands and still don't get the sound.
Highly recommended.
Gnarly on bass
Gnarly is the only word to describe this.
I use it on bass with a clean signal underneath it and it sounds amazing.
Super growly and super fuzzy with a huge tonal range.
Works great with octave up.
One con is the button is hard to press down but i wouldn't say that'll be a bother on stage when you're stomping like mad anyway.
Small Beast
I'm loving this pedal! It's got such a distinctive sound to it, from soaring leads to full fuzzed chords. I was waiting eagerly for it to arrive and was really blown away after plugging it in. Super easy to get the sound you're looking for and it hurts to turn it off! Couldn't recommend it enough
It's the Big Muff... just not so big
I had the old Gingantic one that took up waaay too much retail space on my pedalboard. Also the connetion was different. Now the nano one to my ears sounds the same and comes in a tiny snazzy design with a normal 9v dc connection and a tiny current draw to go with it.
I like it :)
Nano Big Muff Pi
This is my first EHX Guitar Effect and I have to say it's great. Good quality and famous sound in such a small white box. I never had any fuzz effect before this one, so its really new to me how it sounds and how it reacts with an amp. I have to say that gain/sustain knob is not very flexible but tone control is.
It reacts very different from overdive/distortion pedals. Also pedal sound a lot of different in front of clean amp od slightly ovedriven channel. Nano Muff also sound great when boosted with boost pedal or even TS type pedal.
Definitely it's not pedal for everyone, but if you need a muff, nano is a great choice.
Awesome fuzz in a small package!
If you are looking for a thick sounding fuzz with a ton of sustain, look no further. This pedal is small, well built and sounds amazing! It takes up very little space on my pedal board and can be run off a power block or battery.
The controls are very basic but that is part of the beauty. If you want to run this along side a wah I would suggest the big fuzz first in the chain. Typically the drive should be after but in this case, it didn't have much effect after the wah.
I have owned the full sized Big Muff and this sounds just as good! Highly recommended.
Delicious!
I bought this to save a little space on my pedalboard, but I actually prefer the sound to my Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker. The nano is a little brighter, which actually works wonders for the muff sound!
Original big muff sound but smaller
This nano big muff has the same circuit with the original big muff with the difference that the size is much more practical.
You can get all kinds of sounds with the three pots available.
I use it every gig when playing hendrix and pearl jam and other stoner stuff and it delivers every time!! And it 's cheap as well! Recommended :)
