Electro Harmonix Small Stone Reviews
Very functional and affordable phaser. The two selectable "colors" are in fact very different styles, so there's almost like 2 phasers in one device. With the switch down the phasing is subtle and maybe more versatile (more Phase 90 -like?), while the switch up position offers a very in-your-face sound that almost drowns the clean sound. Whether the latter is usable or not depends on the situation, style of music and the rate of the effect. I don't use a phaser in too many songs, so this works for me just fine. Works very well with the Turkish saz and other instruments too.
Great pedal, but it would be nice to have a little bit more control
Great sounding phaser. With the color control you can go from a very noticeable sweep, to an in your phase (see what I did there) killer swoosh. I really like the pedal, but I would have liked it even better with a little more control options. Now you can only select the color and the rate, but I'm missing some sort of blend option. Other then that, still a great pedal. Use it, well not all the time, once or twice every rehearsal session.
EHX Nano Small Stone
I bought the Nano Small Stone Phaser because i ever wanted one to get that 80s Johnny Winter Sound. He used to use an MXR one, but I have to say that this one is as good as the Phase 90.
At first I was really impressed by the quality of it : perfectly build and really solid.
As you can see on the pictures it has a rate control and a switch that makes your phasesound more intense. Both of them work really good and allows you to get many different kind of phase sounds out of this pedal.
So finally I can say that you´ll get a really good phaser for this small prize.
Small Stone
A great little phaser, does what it says on the tin and at a very good price. Obviously doesn't have the control of its more expensive counterparts, but at this price you can't really complain. Really great for psychedelic sounds, though perhaps not so good for your EVH type phase. Side note - with the colour setting on it can get a little bright particularly with a fender/fender setup so it might be worth rolling off your highs a little.
Small Phaser - Small Price - Big Sound
Bang for the buck.
Add just a little to thicken the lead guitar.
Add a lot to play around.
Do not forget to remove the included battery when putting it on your pedal board.
THAT sound!
If you are into Floyd, this will get you very close! The classic phaser sound, subtle and magical :)
Value for money
At this price, and with the quality of this phaser pedal, you can't go wrong. Is very fun to practice with, and will definitely use it live.
lovely phasey sounds
Sounds pretty much as I expected, was looking for a swirly, rotating speaker cap type sound and this little pedal does it. Nice sturdy case too. The rate dial however seems to have a max setting before the dial is fully turned, I could probably adjust the pot myself but I guess it should come from the factory better adjusted.
it's a phaser
Pretty simple to operate - just one knob for the speed of the phase and a switch to change between two modes. When the switch is in the down position the effect of the pedal can barely be heard. It's subtle and discrete. When in the upper position the effect is much more pronounced, but the original signal of the guitar is a bit lost which I didn't like. I believe it's quite good for a phaser, but after some experimenting with various phaser pedals I discovered that I just don't know what to do with a phaser so I don't use them anymore.
With this one, I experienced a sudden drops of volume a few times, only for a split second - probably a cold solder joint somewhere.
I didn't open this one, so I can't tell for sure, but despite the fact that all EHX pedals have "Made in NY city USA" written on the outside, inside I found "Made in China" claim. It doesn't make any difference to me, but some people might want to know.
It's great!
Electro Harmonix have made another great pedal. Again it's well priced and the build and casing is very good quality. I use this with a fuzz pedal to create distorted phasing and swishing effects, it's very effective. Used with a clean sound you can warm up your picking sounds, good for muted playing too.
great phaser
great vintage phase sounds from this little pedal, good value for money, very warm sounding, not as harsh as some of the phase 90's, good hendrix sounds!!!
Review - EH Nano Small Stone
Can't go wrong with this phaser. I was just looking for something to add a light phasing effect and this is perfect. The pedal suits me perfectly in that respect, but when I mess around with some of the more intense phaser sounds it does the good great too. True bypass and fits in nicely on a pedal board too. I would recommend it.
