Electro Harmonix Oceans 11 Reverb Reviews
Expected more
Expected more of this one, it has some nice range and features though. I found it dificult to dial in a good reverb, maybe because of the range. I prefer the polara reverb which has stereo out which the oceans 11 did not provide. Not really impressed, sadly enough.
was expecting more!
The spring is one of best digital recreation with a lot of drip.
Shimmer is very musical
the rest of the mods are very subtle... modulation mod very flangerish...
A great all around reverb
I bought this pedal after reading a lot of about it online and hearing that it's the best new thing, and honestly, it didn't disappoint.
It is my first standalone reverb so obviously I can't say it sounds better or worse than some other offerings, but it offers so much at this price point.
The plate and room reverbs sound great, and are what I mostly use. The secondary controls stay the same when set so you can set those ahead of time and just change the dial when you need a different setup (as well as the level, time and tone which can be easily adjusted). Here, though, is where you realize the drawback. If you want multiple types of reverb in one song, it can be a bit impractical to have to crouch down and change the mode via the selector, even more so if you have to change secondary parameters.
Thankfully, for some options which have heavily customizable parameters there are a few modes which all store their settings, so you can cycle between them if you need "hand presets" on the fly.
Shimmer verb also sounds great, can be a bit overpowering but it's all in the way you use it. Dyna modes are great for auto-swelling and some other niche uses. Echo is nice to stack with another delay. Poly is also really interesting but I think it's a "set up and use maybe once per set" type of thing. Mod stuff is also nice as an option for people who aren't huge fans of modulation (such as myself).
The auto infinite mode as well as the "hold for infinite reverb" switch is really great, I can totally see myself using it in a live context for some textures or song transitions. Great inclusion.
I'm mostly using it in a home studio setting currently, so I'm pretty blown away by the quality of the sound and the features.
However, I am concerned that if/when I start gigging, the usability will pose a bit of a problem. A secondary footswitch for a "favorite" setting like the Harley Benton D-Seed delay would be amazing. I do believe the best option will be to set up a few most used sounds and just switch between them on song breaks.
Overall, very impressed with this package, and blown away that you get so much for not that much money (compared to some other reverbs). It's probably my favorite pedal currently for inspiration and jamming. If you're looking for an all around great sounding reverb and can forgive it's awkward usability, I would definitely recommend trying it out.
Oceans 11 - eleven amazing reverb effects
I bought this pedal, mostly because the spring reverb, i am a big fan from old times reverberation, and sincerly, i was a bit afraid of paying so much, for a new product in the market, but it is AMAZING.
The size is perfect, not too big, not too small.
The pedal is made of good components, not like a Boss Tank, but it?s fine.
The best on this pedal, is the sound, all the sounds are very well designed, the spring is amazing, i was big fan of Boss old reverbs, because of the reverb tank shock sounds, and this pedal reproduces extremely well. Then i start to explore other sounds, and the shimer is brutall, makes other digital reverbs like Line 6 Verbzilla a toy.
Other great feature is that this pedal doesn?t colour the guitar sound, and for a purist like me, big fan of tube amp sounds, it is PERFECT.
I am really happy with this Oceans 11, and the only thing that i would like to upgrade, it was to make a bigger unit, with more presets on the fly with 3 sounds, like de FL4 from Line6.
Until then, i think i will buy one more, to have more possibilities during the songs that i play.
probably the best spring reverb pedal for surf but...
the spring mode is not like a fender amp reverb. It's like the 60s Fender reverb unit. This is probably the best recreation of the 60s Fender reverb unit in pedal form. Very convincing drip. The sound quality is nice
I don't like the other modes and I think if you are looking for an ambient reverb look for something else like strymon
I was expecting more
Reverbs sound very artificial. The shimmer and modulation effects even more so. I know, for that price you shouldn't compare it with more expencive devices but I do, it is not that cheap.
Wow. Just... wow.
This is my umpteenth reverb pedal, as I currently own quite a bunch of reverbs (Strymons - BlueSky, Bigsky & Flint, Neunaber Immerse, TC Hall Of Fame 2, Mr. Black DeluxeDeluxe Plus & Fender Tube Reverb Head) and play surf instrumental music or plate-drenched jazz/blues through Fender blackface amps. Reverb is a big part of my sound so I've become quite picky about it. Compared to others, the Oceans 11 stands shoulder to shoulder with the best of 'em. So many options and tweaks with hidden sub-functions - you can tailor your reverb to almost any application you can think of, including some really out-there sonic experiments. However most modes are highly useful, even at higher mix settings. The only downsides might be a lower headroom than a few of the more expensive units I've mentioned earlier (more notably the Strymons and Neunaber) and a bit of a learning curve when it comes to getting the most out of the secondary functions and modes.
You should have 11 of them!
Great pedal to get creative with, especially when you plug in an extra sustain pedal to hold your tone (infinite reverb) and play over it. And of course also nice for a little, or a little more, sense of space in your guitar tone. It;s a shame there are no 11 footswitches to dial in your sounds, now you turn the rotary switch that is way to small and not very intuitive. For the rest great!
Lots of great sounding reverbs!
All the reverbs zound like studio-quality reverbs. Very easy and intuitive controls. Freeze-like function is cool but wish it was more tweakable with the other reverbs.
Great reverb
Great reverb for the money!
Lot's of options, the Revers - Shimmer & Polyphonic is great!
I prefer it over my Polara, but the Big Sky still is hard to beat ;-)
this is my first reverb pedal for guitar...
11 features all with their unique tone ... A win :)
The 'hall' has become my main reverb type and use it almost always with my guitar .. Also the 'shim' provides a very soothing tone that i love
All of the other types are high quality and usefull when it comes to creativity ...
Haven't really dig into it to see what more i can get ..
Its only disadvantage, that you know before you get it , is that it 's not a stereo pedal.. Apart from that it's a complete delight !
Totally happy i got this !
