Simple yet versitale.

Its beautiful chorus which is extremely simple in use, but it's amazingly versitale for what it is. I love it!

Better than I expected

I was familiar with the pedal but after actually having it... WOW. Love it!

Not my first EH pedal and certainly not my last, they always deliver.

The perfect "Nevermind" and grunge sound!

This pedal/stompbox is really amazing! It delivers the perfect floating sound. The features as depth and the whole knob is really great, if you wanna try sound like the 90s grunge area. It also features more modern guitar songs very well.

The only issue with this is that the battery opening is very fragile and there is no separate plate from the opening plate into the core chip of the pedal. Dirt and water could very easily get in here, which I think EH could have made a easy and more safe design for.

Plus it's very big! Def not a "small" clone!

Nirvana in a pedal.

It won't be long after you've switched this on that you'll be making comparisons to a certain Kurt Cobain.

Try and resist the urge to start playing "come as you are" if you can.

Basically if that sounds appeals this pedal is for you.

Its a slightly quirky design with limited features but sticks rigidly to a classic formula and feels like it could survive a direct metoric strike.

You already know how it sounds. If you dig that then you're in like flynn.

Small Clone

From what I've experienced from this pedal is that its really a plug in and go. Set it to 12 o'clock and it opens up the sound a bit more.

Small name not sound!

This is one of the best and most versatile Chorus Pedals i've ever tried. You can go from a warm and clean chorus like Eric Johnson's (well... almost... no one like him and his sound) to a hot and dinamic sound like Kurt Cobain's on Come as you Are just by activating the DEPTH switch. Its controls are very simple... just the ON/OFF button, The RATE control and the DEPTH Switch, but... trust me... you can do a lot of things with this pedal and a nice tube amp. They have been keeping it simple with this pedal for years and as they say if it's not broken don't fix it!

Twangletrash

I bought this as a present for my wife. She's not usually a fan of using pedals, but already had an idea of what it sounded like thanks to Mr Cobain. But this is only the start.

She says:

With simple controls you can achieve a wide range of sounds from slight shimmer to full detuned chorus distortion. It's got good depth and is very warm.

With her Strat and Jaguar run through a Vox amp, she can easily get a great sound which she calls Twangletrash.

The guitars certainly sound fat and lively and the wide range of sounds inspire chord and picking style playing and writing.

She sums it up as a pedal with emotion and precision in a robust casing.

I say: Highly recommended for the love of your life!

Great simple chorus,

This is a brilliant simple pedal, quality construction.

One dial controls the severity of the effect, and a single switch allows you to change between sounds.

Big durable foot switch making it easy to use when on stage, lasts quite well of a single 9v battery included When off next to no noise is generated.

Excellent sound, easy to use

I use it mainly on bass, and it works perfectly. Sound great and its really easy to use. The use of a depth switch instead of a knob limits the possibilities a bit (of course), but i still manage to get everything i want out of a chorus from it.

Smooth tone

I absolutely love this pedal.

I have been using this in my bass rig and it sounds amazing. Classic chorus.

It's definitely a no frills pedal as the only thing you can change is the rate but that's all I've needed.

It has the great feel of Electro Harmonix build quality with a solid metal chassis and the satisfying clunk of a well built switch.

Unlike the picture on the website, these now have a standard 9v plug like a Boss pedal rather than a jack type power adapter common with older EHX pedals. Definitely a nice surprise.

All in all, a great pedal with classic, no frills chorus. Beautiful.

a classic

It's maybe one of the first chorus pedals ever.

Very simple:

you can chose from 2 depth modes: very deep and subtle depth.

The knob controls the rate of the warble. It's pretty slow until 14:00 and getting very fast from 15:00. so if you want to use faster mod speed it can be a little more difficult to adjust.

Finally, it looks MUCH BETTER than the new nano-versions.

Classic chorus

Nice sound, essential for those Nirvana moments, but great for general addition of chorus to subtle clean guitar tone. It's also brings out a nice little extra to an overdriven lead tone.

Feature-wise there's not a lot in this box; only chorus rate on the pot and deep or shallow chorus effect on the switch. For me, the shallow chorus effect works best in most situations. The deepness of the chorus effect seems to be affected by the rate too, getting deeper as the rate is turned up. This means you can get a quite extreme effect with the depth set high and the rate turned up. As always, it pays back to experiment with the settings before you gig with it, especially given the interactivity between the depth switch and the rate knob.

All in all, a great sounding chorus at a very reasonable price, but adjustment options are limited.

Your nirvana?

Everybody knows Kurt Cobain and his tone in the Nirvana song Come As You Are. When they recorded it, Kurt was using this tiny blue box, the Electro Harmonix Small Clone chorus.

You can easily handle the tone with only one knob for rate (= speed) and a two way switch for depth, with makes the sound a little bit darker.

It's almost unbelievable but with these two controls you can create a huge number of different sounds. From a light chorus to crazy sounds.

It also features a true bypass curcuit and so it doesn't suck on your tone, what's really important to me. Because of the analog curcuit it sounds warm and naturally.
