Elgato Cam Link 4k HDMI Camera Conn.

Super piece of equipment.

Elgato is just the go to for streaming and the 4k Cam link is one of their best products. Ideal for taking guests into your live stream via Skype, Zoom etc

Solid? Yes. Expensive? Yes.

Ironically, there may be more cons than there are pros with regards to the Camlink 4K, but what it does, it does so extremely well, with real consistency and reliability.

If you're reading this then you probably already know where the card shines and where it does not, so here's my recommendation:

1) If you're a 4K Pro, then go for one of the PCIe cards in the Magewell lineup.

2) If you're just starting out on 4K or want excellent HD capture capabilities, then this is the card to buy.

3) If you're working with 720p only, you will probably be better off getting one of those cheap Chinese USB2 knock-offs and save ~80% of the Camlink's price as well as ~90% of the required bandwidth.

Flawless

This is the hottest product in the world just now so you probably know what you are looking for...like most people, i got this to make my videoconferencing experience better.

I'd previously been wrestling with the BlackMagic Ultrastudio - which is an excellent piece of kit (probably technically more advanced than this - certainly more "pro") but I really struggled to get it working. Swapping between apps always caused some weird settings nonsense to happen, and I had the sense that my (2018 Macbook Air) laptop just wasn't meaty enough to power it.

I got the Camlink - spent half an hour trying to find the software you need - turns out you don't need software - and it was flying. Doesn't seem to cause the laptop more stress than the logitech webcam it replaces, works super easily with either of my SLRs or any camcorder we've tried. Highly recommended - but you knew that anyway :-)
