Microphone works as a USB sound device. Really as simple as plugging it in, waiting a few second and you're good to go. Normal minijack headphones plug in to the back and there's a potentiometer on the front to control their volume. Very simple, no need to read the manual. The improvement over the standard computer microphone and a generic USB headset is remarkable. Sound quality significantly improved for interviews and conversations, with much more clarity and detail in the recording. No issues with wind or background noise. I've worked as a film maker for many years so I know my way around audio solutions without being an audio expert. I wanted a USB plug and play solution for my MacBook Pro 16 that would do voiceovers and podcasts without the hassle of an audio interface. The AKG Lyra seemed the best fit for my needs after a bit of research, and I was pleased to find out that this was the case. The microphone is robust, nicely designed and has simple, useful features. It has a USB C input on the mic so that can go to the older USB formats or directly to the USB C input on my MacBook. I was looking for a cheap USB microphone to record 6string and 12string acoustic guitars in my living room. Well, that does the job. First of all, it's plug and play, I use it on Win10 and I don't have to do anything more than to just plug it in. It immediately shows up on the recording sources lists and the only thing you have to do is to just select it on your DAW (Reaper and Audacity in my case). I have zero issues with noise, I place it about 12-15 intches away from the 12th fret/soundhole and it captures the sounds nicely. In terms of features, I would love it to have a gain knob (just to push a few dbs) but that's alright, we are still talking about a 20 euro microphone. No regrets here.

Cons - the body is very sensitive to touch. Even on a stand, the microphone will hear your knock on the table! I recommend soft suspension! Of the pluses - good processing, with which you can customize the sound for yourself. As a result, a not very clear and rough sound will turn into a good and beautiful one by default. But there is a difficulty - for many beginners it will be difficult to handle the settings! Moreover, the presets are not very well matched! Es kann durchaus sein, dass ich erst falsch mache, aber das Mikro ist extrem leise. Alle Pegel auf 12 Uhr, und bei Zoom oder Piezo (Mac) kaum ein Ausschlag. Das kann nicht sein. Erst wenn ich Zoom die Lautstärke automatisch regeln lasse, ist es akzeptabel. Dann kann ich auch relativ weit vom Mikrofon entfernt sein und bekomme dennoch ein gutes Signal. Selbst wenn der Pegel vom auf ist, bekomme ich es nicht hin, ihn zu übersteuern. Angeblich zeigt das Profile das visuell an - bei mir jedoch nicht. Ich werde da noch forschen. Das Profile schirmt Geräusche, die nicht direkt von vorne kommen, gut ab. Es kann aber wieder Stereo noch andere Aufnahmearten und ist somit ein eines One -Mann Mikro.
