Elixir 12050 Polyweb Light Reviews
Crystal clear and durable
I love Elixir Polyweb and nanoweb lines. The sound is crystal clear and its definitely much more durable than any other brand I used before.
Also, the coating limits the annoying squeaks from sliding your fingers along the strings.
The best strings i have ever tried!
I have tried about 15 different pairs strings from many brands . I was never satisfied so I gave elixir a try and I can surely say that I will never buy strings from another brand again.
Very durable strings
Tried Ernie Balls, Tried D'addario string, but Elixir is way more durable. They last longer, they do not rust and just keep their tone a lot longer.
Overall the best strings I used so far.
Almost great but not quite there
I'm using the strings in standard tuning on a Tele.
I bought these string because I live in a humid environment and I've always had to change strings often due to oxidation.
Pros: - Solved the issue of oxidation. The coating on the strings really works.
- They feel very smooth to the touch and getting up and down the neck is fast and easy.
- Tuning stability is brilliant. Once properly stretched and tuned, they stay that way for a long time (at least on a Tele/string-through or fixed bridge).
- The sound is very neutral, in the sense of they doesn't emphasize any frequencies.
Cons: - The tension is quite high and it makes for more difficult bending. I'll probably try a lighter gauge.
I think these strings are worth trying. I'm not completely sold on them yet simply because difficulty in bending.
The best strings!
Elixir in my opinion are the best strings! Last much longer than others and have a feel that I just adore! The Polyweb give me a sweet, warm tone that lasts and lasts..
If you like slippery strings, go for it!
Try these after the optiweb. Actually, I prefer the optiweb, but for the feel of it. I find these quite slippery in the top strings.
Quality is perfect, as all the Elixir strings I used for the last couple of years.
Works great
Bought it for a friend ..he is very happy :D
Good protection against corrosion, the coating doesn’t flake off and last a long time.
On the other hand they don’t sound very good, like there ‘s a plastic coat over the metal.
But what I don’t like at all is that they are so slinky they offer no grip at all, if you sweat the strings will slip under your fingers.
I just can’t play them because of that.
They offer a great protection, but their sound really suffers.
Cleartone treated strings are far superior in sound and feel.
comfortabel spelen
Wauw, fantastische klank en de coating voelt heel aangenaam aan zonder aan geluidskwaliteit in te boeten. Dikke aanrader.
Not as good as the optiweb
The tone sounds a bit 'dead' to me (a well known problem with coated strings). I prefer the optiweb strings from Elixir
Good strings, not very different to nanoweb
Been using Elixir strings for a while and these ones are as good as the other offerings. Last around 1.5 longer in my experience than other brands and sound fairly clear. Only complaint is that they are somewhat expensive
Perfect for that certain Guitar.
I love these for their quiet finger response and slick handling. They also sound good both unplugged and plugged in and suit guitars where a smooth response to finger and pick attack is favoured, such as my DiMarzio powered HSH Walnut strat. In the box this set will languish until the previous set from 4 years ago finally die.
For someone like me who builds and also refurbishes vintage guitars for pleasure and has as many as 35 guitars hanging up ready to play, these strings and the other Elixirs are a real advantage. I am so grateful.
My first pair of Elixir strings and I loved it.
Great durability strings!!
Second time I use elixir strings on my electric guitar and I am totally satisfied with the sound and the durability of the strings. I have them more than a month with 2 - 3 hours practicing every day and still they last at great condition!!! The price also is great if you keep in mind that other strings in half price than elixir last less!
If you got sweaty hands, this is for you
Best strings ever. My hands sweat a lot. I tried everything, but the most common brands just wouldn't do. Ernie Ball would last a week, and D'Addario would stain since the first 2-3 hours of playing. These strings are awesome. I take good care of them, clean them and put the sticky product on every time I play (and I keep the guitar in the case at all times), I play several hours a day, and they do last for 5-6 weeks!! Not changing brand ever again.
Best strings out there?
These strings are great, they last forever!!
very good
Since 15 years i play with Elixir strings. I've never thought to try other strings. Thank you Elixir!
Long lasting, great sounding.
Use:
I use Elixers on all my guitars. Tele, PRSCU24, LP and a custom build. I gig at least once a week (twice most weeks) and practice for aprox 4 hours/week.
Pros:
They 'stretch in' really quickly and hold tuning excellently. These are lasting me for 8 or 9 gigs (as opposed to 2 gigs with Ernies or D'addies) and they still sound pretty new when I change them!
Cons:
Sound a little bit darker than uncoated strings and the coating starts to flake off (for me) after 7or 8 gigs.
Overall:
Excellent value for money on a £/gig basis. These are reliable, good quality strings and well worth the money.
Although they aren't quite as 'bright' as uncoated strings, they sound almost the same the day I take them off as they did the day I put them on. They don't go 'dead' the way uncoated strings do.
I definitely recommend trying a pack
Smooth
Nice smooth strings with excellent tone. Although they are a very light gauge they do not feel like cheese wire, they are very comfortable in use.
