only one problem . . .

My only criticism of these strings is that they don't all seem to be the same size/thickness as each other. Some are definitely fatter than others, so they look a bit "unbalanced" when I put them on my guitar - couldn't they all be made to look the same?

High quality strings

The quality of the Elixir strings is just amazing, they last longer than any strings I've tried before. It's quite comfortable to play on them, never had a problem with bendings or something.

The Elixir give a you very clear and tight tone. To be honest, they are not the best sounding strings I have tried so far but the quality is worth it (at least for me)! And don't get me wrong, the the sound is good though!

I play the Elixir strings on my PRS SE Tremonti which is tuned to Eb. Sometimes I drop the low string to C#, but I wouldn't go any lower with the light-heavy.

A great choice for allergics, cheapskates and everyone at all

Being (most likely) allergic to nickel I've found myself wondering about which kind of strings I could use without ending up with itching and dried out fingers. The answer to that certainly are Elixirs. It may be due to the coating, due to a smaller amount of nickel or both of it, but for me it seems to have helped switching strings from D'Addario EXLs to Elixir.

While not regretting to have played the guitar might be an amazing feature of Elixirs, what makes them outstanding (and worth the rather high price) is the durability and longevity. While Elixirs didn't seem to stay crystal clear at all time, they almost never seem to lose their treble completely and sound dull. At least you can have them strung up for half a year with medium amount of playing (some hours a week).

That said you might want to look out for another brand (for example D'addario EXLs) in case you are the kind of guitarist, that needs full treble at all times and thus needs to put on a new set every 2-6 weeks.

Downsides to Elixirs are the price (in last mentioned case only), that the strings will look quite torn after a while and that I found pickscrapes to sound less well.

So unless you're changing strings every other week or need chrome strings because you dislike treble, Elixirs may be just right for you.

(52-10 works perfect for 24,75" scale guitars tuned to D#Standard or D Standard)

Elixir 10 - 52's

Really nice sounding strings, was recommended by our studio engineer after playing his guitar. The strings felt brand new despite being on there for three weeks prior. Really great in the recording environment as putting on a new set of strings after everyday of tracking can get relentless and expensive.

Longlong life

First I was skeptical. Long lasting tone, no stain? Its might be a fairy tale. And the price seemed high (especially in my local music store), around 2-2.5x of a set Ernie.

I gave them a shoot.

My experiences like with the new set of strings like, they lose that nice sparkling tone after one or two week and they get dull after 3-4 weeks. After month even if I clean them properly they get stained, I am not feel them smooth anymore. That bothers me, but I don't want to buy new strings every third or forth week.

I use a set Elixir for more then 2 month and they still have 80% of the tone and smoothness. Looks new, no rust so far.

Quick math: price of 2 set of strings, life of more than 4 set of strings. It saved me 50% money or more + less hassle with the string change.

Of course, it's my personal experience. I dont play too much, the humidity is low in my room, and my hands chemistry is mild.

I guess it can be even more useful for people with acidic sweat.

amazing

these strings are amazing even though they are pricey they are worth every penny. The sound quality off these elixir strings is unrivaled, warm good bass tone and still has a bright presence too. they have twice the life expectancy of ordinary copper strings due to the web coating and it also helps make moving up and down the fret board easier too.

The strings sound great, I've only had them for a short while but I do play a lot and so far they've lasted very well. However the slick coating on the strings isn't very good if you bend a lot! I imagine these strings would be great for heavy metal or jazz or pretty much anything but blues I guess. The slickness makes them slip underneath my fingers when I do big bends. Still it's not a huge problem and the slickness does goe away the more you play so I wouldn't say you can't bend with them or anything. Just a bit harder then compared to normal strings.

love em

I'm a big, big fan of elixers. For someone who plays, cares how it sounds and feels, elixers are kind. they're a little warmer than most, and feel a little different. If you are someone who plays very often and and hard, these are a little expensive to be changing too often. So recommended for everyone between amateur and touring musician.

Amazing durability

Really worth the money. Sustains the clear sound amazingly and I really like the feel of the coating, which makes the strings feel a little lees rough to your fingerboard hand. Best strings I've played.

Elixir Nanoweb Strings

Hello at all,

I'm a big fan of elixir strings as they stays way longer than other manufacturers strings and also have great tone. The sound of the strings is very bright and metallic, which I personally prefer. The actual coating. It is a very thin coating that feels like a mixture of rubber and plastic (not in a bad way though). The material is very fast and not sticky at all. You easily get used to the coated feeling of the strings, so that's no problem. While keeping the bright sound you can feel the coating wearing out after 3-4 weeks. Especially right above the frets the coating was totally worn out, which lead to more friction and resistance between the frets and the strings. They are worth the money because they outlast standard strings whilst keeping a crisp tone. The sound quality and tuning throughout the length of string is spot-on. Try them once and you'll be hooked! If you are looking for quality, tenacity and preciseness in your guitar string aim for the best and the best are Elixir strings. More durable and worth, that?s what you really want: To reach the right notes in your guitar.

Best strings

Ideal strings for recording and touring. Bright, much more durable than any other. Some may find the sound a bit dark, but tastes differ. Once I tried them, I'd never use any other strings.

Very usefull long last strings, I use them many years for all my 9 electric guitars. The best thing of Elixir strings is - according to my opinion - that you don't need to repreace the strings every 3 of 4 months, but they can stay on your guitar a whole year, if you play your instrument normally and clean the strings after every session.

Great for dropped tunings

I've used Elixir strings on all of my instruments for more than five years now, I love the feel. The light-heavy set is great for drop-tuning, I use them for dropped-C# on a 25.5 guitar and they work reasonably well even below that. You retain ease-of-play on the light strings but get the needed stability of a heavier string for dropped tunings.

The best strings there is!

I've been using Elixirs for about five years now, the Nanoweb coating really makes a big difference: No need to change strings every other week, these may last even a year. A bit stiffer than most other strings, probably because of the hexagonal core wire.
