Elixir Nanoweb Long Scale Reviews
Durability
I've been using these same reference for years and it always brings me joy to buy new strings for my bass
Elixir Nanoweb bass strings
Good quality I recommend!
These strings will be bright for months!
Elixir truly employs some craftsmanship in their strings, especially in these Nanowebs. They keep their brightness on for months even if you don't regularly clean them up. I have no idea how they do it but the coating on these strings is spectacular.
Their tone isn't the best in my personal opinion but you can't always get what you want. It's still pretty good and they'll sound amazing and just like any other roundwound strings in a mix or playing with others.
The feel is also pretty good, a bit silky but I personally like it.
All in all, the best strings to get if you're looking to get a product that will last you for months while keeping their "zing". The price is very justified.
Excellent strings
High quality bass strings and my bass sounds much better now!
TOP
Elixir...well, you know ;)
Long life for sure
I tried many other strings for my bass. I received with most all of them a great sound for 1-2 weeks. After a month the sound was always dead. With elixir strings after a year the sound is still clear. It is maybe a little bit expensive, but compared to the lifetime it is worth to buy.
Expensive but worth the price
Elixir strings last a long time, especially the wound ones, making Elixirs a great choice for restring a bass. The smooth feel and low noise is an added bonus.
these new ones ar good
I didn't like elixir strings before, as they were unusable when the coating began to deteriorate, but now the problem is solved, and the strings last a liftime, well not a liftime, but enough for it to justify the price.
Quality strings for everyday play, bright distinct sound. Long retain the familiar sound, the timbre does not deteriorate for a long time.
5th set I've bought?
These are now pretty much the only strings I will use for anything other than studio work when you NEED the uber-fresh out of packet sound
Nice sounding strings
I was sceptical at first about all the fuss that was going on about these strings but thought about giving them a try. I am very satisfied and returned to them again.
At first they feel a little bit slippery and have that trebly metallic new string sound like any other new strings but of course it goes away after few weeks or days(depends on how much you play)and it stays with a very nice punchy and bright sound for a long time. I took the last ones off after playing them for one and a half year. They actually still sounded pretty good but the coating was starting to come off and they did not feel so good to play anymore.
I don't think that there is something "out of this world" about them sound-wise - they have a pretty typical roundwound string sound(after they are broken in) only with less sliding noise but the the main point is that they last longer in their fresh state and it is definitely worth it to pay more for that.
My favourite strings
I prefer my strings broken in for a few days before they get the sound that I like. I find that the coating on the Elixir's give me this sound instantly and keep it going for months. The perfect strings for me.
The only brand of strings for me!
Longevity and quality, definitely worth paying for!
Best strings available
After using several other brands of strings and never being satisfied with their lifespan, I can safely say I will never use another set of strings from these. Previous set still sounded brand new after six months.
Evergreen pals
Using these strings with my JB std, like it because of some reasons:
- very smooth feeling when you touch strings, no pain for the fingers because of the nanoweb coat.
- they are not super bright( in compare to the steel ones),
but these strings stay on it's brightness for very long period of time.
Using them for 4-6 month at least and the sound is still nice.
Previous ones were in use for about a year.
Really nice strings!
Hello again,
I don’t think these strings are an insider’s tip anymore. The quality is really good, the sound is great. And the best thing: In the long term, the slightly higher price will definitively pay off.
The surface is different than normal strings, could bother some players. Also the coating might not last as long, when you play with picks a lot.
I prefer fingerstyle, these are really my all-time-favorites!
Best Bass strings I ever used
I use these strings on my US Jazz bass V for years and have no compliance!
Long lasting string with great a defined sound.
Even cheaper basses can improve their sound (have experienced on Squier P-Bass special V).
Really deep low ends and nice jingling on highs. Ideal for slapping!
The best out there
Elixir have been my first choice for the past ten years. These guys are no excepetion. Great strings with a really smooth feel. They don't fray like polywebs which I don't like. Great strings
Elixir Nanoweb Medium Long Scale
These are the best stings I have used. Period. I had them on a Marcus Miller Jazz bass and I thought they were the perfect match. Used for Slapping, finger style or muted they sounded good no matter what way i played them. They have a great feel, are nice and taught under your fingers and the nanoweb coating offers a surprisingly helpful aspect when playing finger style. Tonally they are very good all round and lasted forever. Well worth the extra few bucks! Highly Recommended!
For me, these are the ideal strings for my fretless jazz bass. For the first few weeks they sound kind of dull and lifeless, but once the trebly-new string sound goes away, they are really good sounding. Fine defined bass response, mellow mids and sharp treble without being too much. I have a set on my bass for more than an year and the sound just keeps getting better!
