Elysia Xpressor qube 5-stars Reviews
Perfect for finishing mixes and that extra "glue"
It's incredible how this compressor, with its well built construction and its very practical "qube" size... can sound so classy and so reliable at the same time. The flexibility of options offered here, makes it suitable for many sound scenarios.
I use it for finishing mixes. So good!
Great Clean Compressor
Amazing for RRLL compression and for "dirty" instruments if you don't need more saturation. Classical music BUS, Drums BUS, REAR BUS (A.Scheps) mix style found it better than 1176 ,also like no other comp "GRL" button makes it really great for hard compression but without over compression.
Universal tool
So I spent some hours now twisting those knobs and listening how this compressor works. And I must say it can work with any type material you throw at it.
Front panel is clear and easy to navigate. Potentiometers are best in class, smooth, small stepped so it's easy to recall for sessions.
Some say it's very transparent compressor and yes it is, but it can really xpress your sound in many ways.
Yes, it doesn't colour your sound and it's a good thing.
I don't need any colour, I have all colours I need from my analog modelled synth instruments, preamps, tape emulations, distortion plugins and all analog modelled stuff. I need clean, universal sound source controller that can glue, shape my individual sounds or buses. And if you need some more power there is "Warm Mode". I tried it on some material and did't wanted to switch it off!
Pros:
1. Build quality. It's Elysia guys, Germans... Hand crafted, and tested in house.
2. Very compact unit. It sits perfectly on my table and easy to reach.
3. I removed 90% of my vst compressors. This is my "Swiss knife" now.
Cons:
1. Now I need more money for more qubes - xfilter and karakter. :(
