Eminence Cannabis Rex 12" Speaker Reviews
banger
is it the best replacement speaker or what? ideal for cleans, for complex sounds and huge pedalboards with large palette of effects. by the way, I don't find it dark at all; to me it's crystal clean and readable, check the response graph. if you're not glad about your «tone», start with speakers, then try placing EQ in your signal chain or fx loops, then pickups, then everything else (amp, pedals).
Great speaker in a Fender Blues Deluxe
Got one of these to replace the standard speaker in my Blues Deluxe, does exactly what I wanted it to - clear bass, nice warm mids and softer highs, well present but nothing as mushy and harsh as the original speaker. And the build quality as always excellent as I've come to expect from Eminence !
Great speaker for 1x12 use
Used in a Fender Deluxe, having tried 3 or 4 others. I've had the same in a DRRI, it's a perfect unit for a Blackface Fender if you want to tame the top end a little. Heavy magnet, and noticeable increase in the weight of the amp, but not a big concern.
Good for speaker mods
I bought it for use on Fender Super-Sonic 22 and I am very glad...
AMAZING SOUND
BEST SOUND FOR YOUR TELECASTER!!!! NOTHING IS BETTER THEN THIS ONE, WHNE PLAYING YOUR TELE
Great value replacement speaker
This is probably the best value replacement speaker, especially for "bright" sounding rigs. Bright sounding usually means harsh when using distortion or overdrive pedals. This speaker transformed my Fender Blues Deluxe re-issue from harsh sounding to a wonderfully smooth smokey sounding rig. You might have to to compensate the lack of certain high frequencies from this speaker by bumping up the amp's treble, but otherwise this is a fine replacement speaker at an unbeatable price. Construction also looks top-notch, including the packaging.
Great for taming overly bright amps
This speaker is very dark/smooth, it tames the harsh top end of the DRRI. It will also take out some of the snap and twang, giving your amp a slightly spongier feel. Makes cleans full and round and overdrive sounds are no longer harsh when compared to the stock speaker.
Excelent companion with Fender Blues Junior Laquered
Full sound, louder, brilliant highs, clean mids. The amp sound amazing.
Easy installation.
Really, I have an new amp!!!
nice speaker!
i play a blues junior and i always struggled to get a fatter sound out of it.. i really didn't wanted to pass to a bigger amp, mostly because of the weight and also because i don't play in big gigs and i prefere a small tube amp cranked up than a big one set at 2..
last thing to try was to change the speaker so i did it!
i've already played the green limited edition of the blues junior with the cannabis rex speaker and i liked it so i decided to give it a try..
well.. it worked! shure, you won't get a marshall type big, clean, and boomy sound (who want's it anyway?) but i find my blues junior sounds warmer and more full, without loosing the spank and the brillancy that characterized it.
definitly reccomended!!
What a tremendous upgrade for my deluxe reverb reissue
I loved my deluxe reverb reissue for jazz tone.
With a overdrive pedal the tone was fizzy and couldn't dial out that strange top and.
This speaker is up to the hype. To my ears still sounds like a fender amp - Turns the deluxe reverb in a rock tone machine - taking very well all my overdrives - OCD, DUDE, Dirty little secret..
And the clean tones are extremely rounded.
Installing the speaker was very straight forward, after I removed the front grill.
Tremendous upgrade.
Great for my Koch
Easy to mount, good quality looking.
It's very different from the standard hard rock v30...I have to re-equalize the amp totally. It's great for clean fendery sounds and for saturated overdrive solos. Not so great for rythmic hi-gain parts, it's just not for that genre, but it wasn't designed for it, so...great speaker.
Very good
Excelent choise with Blues Junior or Blues Deluxe amps. Pure clean and smooth drive
Great Speaker for Blues Junior!!!
I replaced the stock "Fender" speaker of my Blues Junior with the Cannabis Rex. I think I made a great choice!! Compressed and defined fat sound with crystal mids and trebles...
Blues Junior upgrade
I put this speaker in to my blues junior after reading so many recommendations on the internet. I immediately noted that the amp sounded much bigger than before. It took away all of the brittleness that these amps are well known for.
One thing I did not initially like though was how much darker the amp sounded, especially at low volumes. At higher volumes it was not noticeable but if you use this amp at bedroom volumes it you will need to compensate with the EQ. My amp though was a series 2 and I believe that the series 3 should not have this issue.
If you use a blues junior for gigging you owe it to your amp to get this speaker for it.
okay
bit harsh sounding for me. hasn't worn in and sweetened much unfortunately but i live in hope. quite efficient though and is evenly balanced. handles frequencies well but is just a bit unforgiving.
