Ernie Ball 2624 Skinny Top Heavy Bottom Reviews
Itâs Ernieball! Still my favorite after 15 years
Tried these for alternative lower tunings experimenting. Love the tension on the low strings and the clarity of the high strings
Good
Good for standard on ms 8string guitar
Best strings, especially for the price
Perfect gauge for my multiscale (26.5" - 28") 8 string tuned to drop A with a low E. I haven't ever had any quality issues with Ernie Ball strings.
THE BEST YOU CAN GET (For this price)
Absolutely stunning sound and durability relative to the other brands at this price point, nuff said.
Nice strings
I am a big fan of Ernie ball strings. It sound good as always
Not a good suit for 30" scale guitars with string through body
I've bought this set for a Subzero Rouge IV (30" scale) and the .80 gauge didn't even reach the tuning machine. I suspect that the lack of length is due to this guitar being a string through body on the bridge (which reduces the amount of string length available). If you're using a Squier Vintage Modified Baritone Jazzmaster (30" as well) I believe you'll not have this problem.
Great strings
I use these for my 26.5 scale 8 string. Unfortunately i have to buy .85 8th string separately because of the scale length and lack of string sets available, as .80 is muddy for my tuning of E, A, E, A, D, G, B, E. Rest of the set fits perfectly though, they sound great and there is nothing wrong with them. Would recommend.
HEAVY and Light at the same time
If you have an 8 string, and want to keep high tension on the low end strings, while maintaining easy bending ability on the high end, then these are for you!
I bought them mainly for the low end 80 gauge on the 8th string, and then to have a spare set of 9s
If you like to bend or are used to lighter gauge 6 string guitars, then this is the perfect mid ground!
Exact description, it does what it's supposed to.
Bought it for my Ibanez 8 String. I must say that in the beginning it was a bit daunting to play a .80 gauge string on a guitar. But with time I got used to it. Great for metal or djent. Very clear sounding.
the perfect fit for my 8
Just the right blend for my fan fret 8.
Fantastic Overall
Very good strings to 0-0-0-0-1-0-0
Great tone
I love everything about these strings. I have an 8 string (26.5 '') which is not multi scale. No problems in intonating these strings. I downtune F#to E and everything is great. Amazing sound, definition, sustain. I recommend.
Dude... Ernie Ball
I've been using EB strings since forever. Cheap, easy to get anywhere, sound great, indestructible.
I have zero motivation to switch to another brand and will probably never do so.
I only wish they had more variety when it comes to 8 string packs but this is ok for my setup.
Great for 8- string guitars
Great for Djent, since the higher strings are loose enough to comfortably solo with, but the lower strings, especially the 8th string, is ridiculously thick, so it gives a really powerful sound
Very good price for the quality and 8 string set.
Fantastic!
Great sound, but maybe heavy bottom is a bit too much.
It's only good if you wanna tune down the low strings
A good balance.
I don't play my 8 too seriously, however since it is a 28" scale I sometimes just track regular solos on it, since I enjoy the intonation. The low string is fine both in F# and E.
If you like the feel of 9's I seriously recommend this particular set.
good price for the quallity
Great strings but..
The lower strings are rather chunky. The other 6 are fine though. I got a few packs of these to see if they can handle lower tunings on the rather short scale of my 8 string jackson (26.5 i believe), and while they do help the thickness of the two extra strings is a tad odd.
Look no further for an 8-strings set.
You want to stay away from elastic and undefined sounds when you're playing so low. You need definition, which is what you get with a .80 gauge...
