Evans 13" G2 Coated Tom

Having always played clear heads I always wanted to change the sound, and have a nice warm sound and even a new look, I put on the G2,s on all my Toms and was not dissapointed, a lovely warm soft tone, and they look nice compared to clear ones. they tune up way easier than clear drumheads for some reason, I had them tuned up in seconds ( I am not great at tuning Toms) was so pleased with them that they wil be the head of choice now for a long time, 5 months and the coating is still on them, buy these heads, you wont be dissapointed.

Remo Encore 13" Ambassador clear

Remo Encore 13

I bought 1 of these to replace the resonant head on a vintage Premier Soundwave tom. The original owner had Remo Pinstripes top & bottom which made the tom sound like hitting a plastic tub. I kept the batter head Pinstripe & was going to fit a normal Remo Ambassador as resonant head but decided to give the Encore Ambassador a try. The head fitted perfectly, tuning was a breeze & now the tom sounds great. I would definitely recommend as a cheaper alternative to Remo Ambassadors as resonant heads.

Evans 13" Hydraulic Red Tom

Evans 13" dB One Drum Head TT

awesome product ,,, but,,, not so different from SoundOff mesh head if you put some duck tape on it,,,,so if you already have SoundOff mesh,,,it is not big upgrade.....triggers working awesome....If you use it with resonant heads it is full acustic drum ...but with low volume....you only need to tune to that sweet spot ,,,it is only one spot that sounds awesome,,,not like regular drum with normal heads with many options....for example reso head need to be more down with tune ,,,not so tight like it is on normal drum..... so first tune reso to get some nice low sounding with lots of sustain.... and then tune batter head and listen sound as you tune up head from finger tight...

Aquarian 13" Deep Vintage II Coated

I have used many heads over the years, with some delivering better than others with the sound intended. I realise that tone and projection are like tastes, in that it’s open to interpretation and what one likes. Having played professionally for some time, this head delivers a warm, clear and controlled pallet, with a more rounded sticking tone. It responds well to higher tuning for the jazz cats (in teach in three universities, one which specialises in jazz), as well as the vintage sound through to a more Blues/Pop/Rock vibe aka John Mayer. Simply, the heads are great and will fit most drummers musical tastes. To note, they are as consistent live, or better still in the studio, where the warmth is really noted (especially through a Neve 1073 ;-)

Remo 13" Pinstripe clear

The remos pinstripe has been in my life for as long as I can remember. It gets a decent sound out of entry level beginner drums, and a good sound out of good drums. But something that not everyone will know is that it gets an unbelievably good sound out of quads or multi-tenors (for marching bands / drum corps). The tonal clarity and projection you get is second to none. Obviously it's better to use the dedicated marching version with the crimplock hoop, but it's essentially the same head, just a little stronger at the point of attachment. If you haven't heard pinstripes crannked up to high tension, then you haven't heard them at their very best. But even at normal tensions they are a solid, reliable drumhead.

You have to consider what purpose you are acquiring them for though, and to what kind of drums. I guess those who are less happy with them experience some deviation between their initial expectations and the purpose they are using them for. The two plies are “closer linked together” because of the oil, which gives a more compact feel and limit the vibration of the plies. Therefore, they also remove certain high frequencies and limit the sustain. My experience is that they work well (and primarily) on lower tunings, to achieve that kind of EQ`ed rock or metal drumsound when you are just playing in the room (without mics or anything). And for that purpose, I find them great! I guess they also do work as well on recordings, when seeking that certain “thumpyness” in...

Remo 13" CS Clear

I am currently using the clear Controlled Sounds top and bottom on my rack tom. Having previously used EC2's and coated Vintage Ambassadors, I find these heads to be a perfect middle ground- more open and resonant than the EC2's, but with more attack and projection than the Ambassadors. These heads perform well tuned both high and low, although I find lend themselves best to medium/lower ranges for that classic, growling rock tone. Essential if you love the drum sounds of the 70's..! Due to the reinforced dot on top of the head, these should last longer than a traditional single ply choice, and mine still sound great after three months of regular playing.

Millenium 13" Eminence Coated

Paired this on on the batter side of a 13''x11'' tom, with the single-ply (admiral) head on the reso- side.. results were OK; tried to tune it the deeper it would go, quite a laborious task with cheapo drums and all, but managed to get it even with little to no ringing by having the reso head a smidge lower on this 13'' tom, and inversely on a 16'' floor tom (reso side higher) . I play mostly punk rock stuff with the occasional blast beat and attempted triplet fills.. these heads play well with each other. Having also replaced the aforementioned 16'' floor tom heads for the same combination and effect, I can tell you that altogether, these sound duller and a bit more muffled than your standard bright clear heads, but there is also color in...
