Evans 14" MS3 Polyester Snare Reso Reviews
Good for what it was made for
Note that I bought a few of these as a test. I altered the size of the small rings to test a few ideas for a drumkit snare. So I did not use it for what it was made for. The quality is good, the sound was... usable on a drumkit snare, but it was obviously not the best. The smaller (altered) versions produced a better sound, but still not as good as a standard snareside head. The sound I got was a combination of a regular snare and a marching snare. Weird for a drumkit snare. Did not keep it on, went back to regular snareside heads. I suspect, it would have sounded great on a marhing snare. But not recommended for drumkit snares (wood or metal).
Less ringing
Bought this head to try and dampen my snare (for metal). It works pretty well, there are less overtones, but it isn't as drastic as I had thought it would be. So the tone is still useable for most genres.
Great marching drum snare head
This Evans head works great on my Premier marching drum snare. It is very robust and has a built-in dampening ring which makes tuning the drum very easy. I highly recommend this head for marching drums or any snare for that matter if you are looking for good attack from your snare.
One of the best inventions
This dampens so well all the unwanted overtones! If you don't have an expensive drum set, these improve your drum sound a lot!
