I use this as a bottom head skin on a 12" Yamaha tom. This skin is thin and can stretch as much as you need. I like the bottom head to be very stiff and that head perfect get the job done. On the top of the tom, I am using a remo ambassador coated, Once that I have been able to adjust the harmonic, it's a warm, punchy and flat sound that gets out of the drum. I personally do not like to put any kind of stuff on the bottom or top of the side of the drum head. I like to hear the tom to breath on its own and this head gets the job done. One important thing to add is that once you have tuned it twice or thrice, it holds the pitch. You don't need to get back at tuning it again.

I use this ring on a 15 inch floor Tom which is part of a Yamaha 9000 Recording kit . I find that it gives both myself and, the sound technician, a pleasing , controlled tone and signal to work with. In some instances a moongel pad may also be added if further ‘damping’ is required. This particular model is two inches wide and, some drummers may prefer the options of ‘one and a half’ or one inch….as the situation dictates. As I primarily use Evans EC2S and G2 clear Tom batter heads ( 2ply ) there are situations where the drums are played ‘wide open’ with no damping.

I always can trust in remo heads they never fail me personally I needed to rehead my aux snare it’s not been done in longer than I want to admit so ….I chose this and it’s both easy to tune and a quality product I use high tuning and this can take the stick lol (yes that was a pun) I do use other drum head brands on the rest of my kit …I mix. but snare’s always!! remo they just work better for me I guess it’s just years and years of reliability ✌️
