These are great! Really.

You have to consider what purpose you are acquiring them for though, and to what kind of drums.

I guess those who are less happy with them experience some deviation between their initial expectations and the purpose they are using them for.

The two plies are “closer linked together” because of the oil, which gives a more compact feel and limit the vibration of the plies.

Therefore, they also remove certain high frequencies and limit the sustain.

My experience is that they work well (and primarily) on lower tunings, to achieve that kind of EQ`ed rock or metal drumsound when you are just playing in the room (without mics or anything).

And for that purpose, I find them great!

I guess they also do work as well on recordings, when seeking that certain “thumpyness” in the sound, although I haven’t got much experience with that myself, yet.

Evans Magic

I use this on my 13 Inch Tom, my other two Toms have also been fitted with the black hydraulic heads. Fits perfectly, easy to tune, no annoying ringing, great balanced sound and tone.

First class drum head

Great sounding drum heads. Not the cheapest around but do a fantastic job and sound great. The double hydraulic layer means they are not too 'lively' and sound great on most tom shells. Good quality materials and construction

Amazing performance

I like these Evans products for the price and quality. And also I like the colour (most brands are white) I chose this specially for it. I recommend this for any drummer. It sounds very good in my drums.

Nice looking tom head

These heads are sweet looking and very durable! And very easy to tune. Only minus is that these lacks some character. It's just a simple, dull "bum" sound. But gives very rich low end though!
