Evans 16" Hydraulic Black Tom 5-stars Reviews
Best Heads for Metal Drums
If you like your tom sound deep and dark, especially for metal, this is the perfect head to use! I play Death/Thrash metal and it works perfect for me! I bought the whole set! You don't need any damping materials anymore, because of the tick head, It is dampened already! It don't ring and is perfect for mixing and mastering your music... Well it is the easiest way!
These are great!
You have to consider what purpose you are acquiring them for though, and to what kind of drums. I guess those who are less happy with them experience some deviation between their initial expectations and the purpose they are using them for.
The two plies are “closer linked together” because of the oil, which gives a more compact feel and limit the vibration.
Therefore, they also remove certain high frequencies and limit the sustain.
My experience is that they work well (and primarily) on lower tunings, to achieve that kind of EQ`ed rock or metal drumsound when you are just playing in the room (without mics or anything).
And for that purpose, I find them great!
Tough 'n' goodlooking drumhead for heavy hitters
Got these skins on all my toms, nice percussive sound, easy to tune and very few overtones. Perfect for metal, HC and punk.
The black looks great on my goldenyellow drumshells!
Con: The volume of the toms decreases a bit (but that'll make your wrists stronger 👊)
Tamed a loud tom with minimal damping
lovely head, tamed a loud tom.
Exactly what expected!!
This Evans Black Ton skin has a very nice sound and the quality is amazing. Another quality that is valuable for me is the color that makes a huge difference on the kit look.
I highly recommend this product once it attends all the expectations I had.
I am very happy with this purchase.
