Best Fodera 6-String Set Light Steel Med. Alternatives

I bought this set to use in my 5 string fender jazz bass. They don't make a 5 string E-C set, so I went for the 6 string, and saved the low B for the future. The sound is what I'd expect for DR High beams (I have the same set in a 4 string P bass), full and bright, classic stainless steel sound. They do feel a bit harsh, like regular SS strings, but you get used to that quickly. Tension feels a bit lower than Nickel, which is great for me. I don't see myself using other strings in the near future.

Just used for recording a full lenght metal album in a professional studio. I used this stings on Spector Euro6 LX. The sound is very nice round sound. No extreme highs, lows or mids, it sounded just perfect. After two very busy days it still sounds pretty great, however the low B started to wear (what is not a surprise in a metal band...). Using a 6 string is not a good news to bassmans if it's about sortiment. Compared to Warwick Black Label, Daddario EXL, EPS, or Ernie Ball this NYXL series is highly the best choice. For luck, I bought 2 sets so I don't have to worry if I have to change strings. The only bad is that it has no tapered ball end and my bridge is too small.

Well priced set of strings that are perfectly adapted to the extra lengths of a Dingwall bass. Excellent tonality with bright overtones coming through, but the E and B strings could be a bit bit deeper compared to other strings I have tried, the feel can also be a bit rubbery - a subjective opinion of course. A comparator would be D'Addario ProSteels (SL) which I use and have better depth at the same EQ settings and slightly more consistent feel; I can see why this is liked on the Dingwall fora and overall nice and playable, in summary.

I bought an Yamaha John Patitucci Bass and initially I put a set of Elixir. However, I felt there was something off with the sound, and the high C sounded a bit lower in volume. After that I tried Daddario Prosteels, the strings I use for many years on my main 5 string Bass.... and they were better than Elixir, but a bit too bright for my taste on Yamaha Jp1. Then a friend recommended me to test the Fodera Strings, and oh boy, I was in for a surprise. From the first notes I was in love. I couldnt belive what beautiful and balanced sound I was hearing from my 6 string Bass. The Slap tone was divine, and the low end SUPERB... and the string tension is simply Perfect. I never had this kind of positive impression just from a set of strings. It felt like I switched from a VW Polo to Rolls...

All of my four-string basses were strung with Rotos, so this set seemed to be the logical choice. I'm primarily a slap and fingerstyle bassist. I play a lot of alternative rock and metal, so I prefer a more agressive bass sound. Rotosounds have a great tone, which cuts very good through the mix. They seem to have a nice longevity, because the tone stays bright for weeks. And I have broken only two strings, each after months of hard playing. However, the bright sound produced by these stainless steel strings might not be for everyone. Also Rotos feel a little more rough on the fingers than some other brands, so this may be considered a downside. I would recommend Rotosounds to everyone who's looking for affordable and reliable stings. Even if they turn out not be your favorite set, it's...

Since I'm playing a Human Base Jonas sixstring bass, I'm always looking for good and especially affordable strings. First time I tried these strings, I thought "man they are really tough to play" and that is a common trade in all Warwick strings I tried so far. Once you play them for a while, you will get a feeling of good control and precise articulation from your instrument, based on the strings. Generally they add some "punch" in the mid-frequencies which could be annoying if your bass already has a tendency to boost those. If you don't like the mids, just try the sound in a band context ;-) The Jonas is my main bass and gets played a lot - the average lifetime of the strings is around 3-4 month for me.

I think these strings sound great, when they are new. The wear off probably faster than some more expensive ones, but I don't care. I prefer buying new strings often and at this price, I afford it. I am not one of those guys, who buys expensive strings and boils them in alcohol for 3 years, to prolong their life cycle :) They are really cheap and that's why I think it is hard to beat the price/quality ratio here. I really appreciate the 0,25 string. You usually get 0.32 or 0.30 for the C string, but I think 0,25 is easier to play, bend, etc. I always buy the stainless steel series. For rock, metal, I think they sound much better than the nickel, because they have this high frequency ring, which helps to cut through the mix, but of course, that is just a matter of taste. For...

you kidding me, they've got a huge punch to their sound and the feel is very natural among other such as ddr or ernie ball , would definetly go again and again and again for daddario restringed the bass almost 2 months ago , they really have the same tightness , didn't change colour , idk , this batch is seriously changing the game I like the packaging , simple and useful, I'm thinking I'm n ot just paying a fancy price for fancy packaging , I'm paying for the engineering that goes in the development of strings recommend them, really !

I'm a bass player of 8 years and also an Audio Engineer. These are a Bass Player's dream!... very rarely need to be replaced. They sound fantastic for both finger-picking and also ise with a pick. I have had better sounding strings in the past, but only marginally better. The main thing I love about these strings though, is that they keep their great tone for a lot longer than other stings I have had previously (both coated and uncoated). I doubt that I'll ever buy anything else to be honest! Plus they're black, which just looks awesome!

I have been playing Warwick Red Label Nickels for years and these strings does not disappoint. Sound-wise they are perfectly fine, they got nice warmer tone, which I prefer much more than stainless "zing" tone. Some may notice the high C string is thinner than on other sets, but it sounds and plays fine and does not buzz in standard tuning. There is no coating at the string ends and B string is not tapered. Strings are smooth enough to not hurt your fingers and they will fit any (Warwick) bass. Recommended!
