Well, the sound out of this thing exceeds expectations. It is clean and clear all the way through to being dimed and I mean that, I tested with the volme on full, the wife wasn't too happy :) ! It's a great clean base for a pedal platform. The only thing I was disappointed with is the output running through an 2x12 (Hareley Benton G212V) set at 8ohm mono. I bought the amp as a spare to keep in my bag when gigging should my Bugera V22 Head fail. First test was the sound and it is very good, not as dynamic as my tube amps but I don't expect it to be. Second test was to check the output at gig volumes and I'll be honest it isn't as loud as my gig volume from my Bugera. BUT we are a VERY loud band with a VERY heavy hitting drummer. It was pushing out about 95% of my Bugera when set at...

I use the Power Stage 700 with my Helix into a 4x10 for all my bass gigs, and a 4x12 for all my guitar gigs. Plenty of power and amplifies with clarity all the way to full volume. The in built EQ is so handy for on the fly adjustment during the gig, no menu diving etc, and each input has an associated di out with optional cab sim, very handy. I love this machine. I would absolutely buy this again with no hesitation. I am even thinking of buying the 170 or 200 as a back up. If you want to power a cab on stage you can't go wrong with the 700.

A top-notch quality attenuator, transparent tube power amp and fx-loop in a compact case that fits into 2U height (rackmount kit is sold separately) or on top of a guitar head. Mine comes with matched Sovtek 6550WE power tubes and Ruby 12AX7C5 HG driver & phase inverter tube. According to manual, KT88 tubes can be also fitted without biasing. I use it with home-built 100W 1959 SuperLead (no built-in fx-loop, no built-in line-out). I needed to solve master volume, post-amp fx-loop, and solo boost. Before I discovered this device, I had to reamp it, which included a load-box for the first speaker out jack (Palmer PDI-06-16), line-out box for the second speaker out jack (served as post-amp fx-loop), and finally solid-state amp to amplify the signal. This was a little bit complicated...

Quite a heavy device - that's understandable - transformers. The depth does not allow saving space in the rack, I had to look for a suitable rack case. The fan is also a little noisy - it turns on periodically, so you won't be able to put a microphone next to it. Not the first time I figured out the manual and the connection - everything was very confusing, it seemed to me (by the way, I’m not the only one on the Internet who did not immediately understand how to connect this amplifier), but in the end everything turned out to be extremely easy and understandable! The sound of the amplifier is very good. I have seen comments that low frequencies are not enough - but there are a lot of them and even more, at least with 4x12! The idea of having two separate channels wasn't very...

Bought this on a whim as other guitar specific power amps are very expensive and can take up lots of room in a rack system. I'm pairing this up with the highly underrated digitech gsp1101 and a stereo 2x12 with greenbacks. The results are jaw dropping, honestly! The GPA-400 provides lovely quiet, effortless clean power and the massive surprise is the built in eq... It's like buying a power amp and getting a free sonic maximiser! The downsides to the unit are the cheesy silver plastic knobs and nasty plastic jacks, otherwise I whole heartedly recommend this great value piece of equipment.

I have two of these. I used them with a valve preamp for guitar and bass. Only thing I don’t like is the annoying thump through the speaker on power up. Also if the volume is up when powering on it won’t power up and just keeps thump thump thump until the volume is decreased at which point it then powers up. It isn’t a fault exactly as they both do it, but annoying, and not very speaker friendly. Sound is good, and very loud if needed, could easily get over drums. I could see this being a very useful emergency amp or tagged onto a pedal board for a lightweight rig.

HoTone Loudster Portable Power Amp

This amp is amazing. And is exactly what I needed and expected. No tone coloration and fancy knobs, just a volume pot and pure power. I'm done carrying 10+kg heads around. If you wonder if it's loud enough like I did - don't. If you crank it up it easily outcries the drums, but you risk bleeding from your ears. And I'm not even using its full potential with a 2x12 16 ohm cab. I can only imagine what damage a 4x12 at 4 ohm might do. Someone might want a stereo input and output, but for that price, just buy another one - there's your stereo sound. It would've been nice to have the option to connect a second cab, but it's not something that can't be solved by making a cable, or if you're lazy just buy a cab merger.

Was searching for a discreetly-sized, emergency back-up power amp in case my live rig died on the road. It can (and does) happen and can be a gateway to a realm of nightmares. The price initially made made laugh, but when something is that cheap you really have nothing to lose so I took a gamble. Believe me, I won. A solid unit with metal chassis, incredibly simple to use, and thankfully NO WALL-WART. The sound is transparent enough in a serious live situation for no-one, not even you, to notice you're essentially playing by the grace of a glossy, black brick...unless you want to mess with the provided low-mid-treble dials which can certainly add some character. I leave them at 12 and dial on my pre-amp though. Anyone who says this runs "quiet" is using it wrong, or needs a...

I have an AX8 and bought this to power my 2 x 12 cabinet. I gig weekly at a relatively big venue and wanted something that would compete with the drum volume level. It does it's job fine and I find it quite transparent, it does not colour the sound. The only issue I have with this is that sometimes I get electric shocks from touching it!! it's quite annoying and I usually avoid touching it when it's powered! Apart from that it's a good budget power amp. Don't know if I would recommend it though because the electric shock issue is quite a problem for me...

Palmer Macht 402

I bought this stereo amp to replace my all tube Peavey Classic 50/50 amp. The tube power amp is four times heavier (26.5 pounds - 12 kilos) and takes 2U spaces. Plus it needs re-tubing and occasional service as all tube amps do. I paired my Macht 402 with the Digitech GSP1101 rack processor which I have been using for about 10 years now. I was worried about two things: first that the 402 will not have enough volume and second that it wouldn't sound as good as Peavey. I was wrong :) I use two Carvin Legacy 2x12 cabs 8 Ohm each, with Celestion Vintage 30s, and the Macht 402 amp has plenty of power on tap even in stereo mode. It's definitely loud enough to play live with a loud drummer. As far as the sound goes it's as close to the Peavey as it gets: clear and worm, but punchy. The EQ...
