Incredibly clear and well-rounded output for how much this speaker costs. By far the best solution for small control rooms/bedroom studios that look for a high end sound without spending a crazy amount.

Best for small home recording studio needs

Yes it is pricey compared to the budget popular brands but it is worth every cent once you hear it in action. The monitors could feel they lack some low end but for the smaller room there would be much more trouble to handle that extra low end. I feel this is a perfect choice for small home recording studios. If you cant live without that extra oomph, get a sub to compliment them.

Beware of your room acoustics... very bassy monitors!

I'll start by saying that therse monitors are very well made. They produce A LOT of bass frequencies for their size!

My personnal needs were for some edits and pre-mixing in a home setup. Typical bed-room setup, close to a wall... I just couldn't find a good and flat sound with them, whatever the back filters I used, too much bass/boominess, strange mid resolution... For me, they didn't translate at all! ... I'm back on a pair of Yamaha HS5 and for some reasons, they sound much better for my application. Go figure...

Also, you have to 'like' the Genelec tone (yes, they have a 'tone'). I've had a few of their models in the past 20 years, and they all share the same top-end / high type of tone. You like or not... I'm past the return window now, so my pair is now for sale.

As important as what monitors you use, make sure your room is correctly treated. This is a very detailed studio monitor. It is of amazing quality and very nice to mix on. The quality ad sound you can expect of a good pair of Genelec monitors. If this is your only set, get a sub. I have other 8" Monitors that I use for mixing the bottom end.

Great sound at a great price

There’s a reason Genelec is one of many studios cornerstone. It gives accurate, clean sound without hassle. I use them mainly for multichannel sound installations, and to be able to get familiar sounds every time is valuable. Saved me so much time

Can't go wrong

These are amazing and accurate. Best used with a sub though. I used swissonic sub 10 for years crossed at 80hz and worked great.

Amazing monitor speakers

I have Genelec 8030 speakers, they are really amazing, so I decided to buy this one. I bought this for my Apolo twin sound card. The result is really amazing, the sound is great.
