Gibson 57 Classic-plus installed at the bridge position

The reviews I read before trying the '57 Classic-plus all indicated that this pickup sounded SMOOTH (and even quite 'fat'). I can't say I agree. It sounds great for thrashing, but for legato solo'ing it's way too zingy/edgy for my tastes, and not at all 'fat'. Rolling off the treble control helps a bit, but if I could roll back the clock, I wouldn't have chosen this pickup as it's a fair bit more expensive than an equivalent Seymour Duncan. Also, for a pickup that's billed as medium-high output it's got very little extra oomph than the regular '57-classic, if any at all. For the money, I'm disappointed.
