les paul standard 50's GT

usually I wait before writing a review, but I couldn't wait for this Les Paul. The quality of this guitar is awsome. out of the box the action was already very low, even too low for me. flawless finishing. Wonderful fretboard color. Great quality everywhere. I like big fat necks so I feel at home with this one. The only thing I don't like it's that still smells too new. Quite bothering. But I guess in a couple of weeks outside the case it will be ok. I heard that Gibson's quality has been fluctuating lately. Obviously you should like this vintage feeling (fat neck, heavy body ...) but honestly I couldn't imagine a better quality for an electric guitar..

Shocked

I own many Gibsons. All great sounding and great to play. My only complaint of them would be having to go and get them set up and fine tune of minor details but, not a big thing.

I bought this Gold Top recently and I'm honestly shocked at how good it is. Firstly, it's eye catching! Incredibly beautiful and well made guitar.

The sound and tone are incredibly musical and by that I mean, it's very responsive to your touch in terms of how soft or hard to you pick/strum. Sustain is amazing, neck is beautiful!

Put simply, if you are looking for Les Paul, buy it!

A proper Les Paul

Plays and feels like a proper 50s Les Paul. I think it’s a more accurate representation than most 50s re-issue models Gibson released over the years. Great sustain (thanks to all that solid mahogany body!). Chunky 50s neck, which isn’t for everyone but I personally prefer thicker necks. It’s a heavy guitar, though I always play sitting, so it doesn’t bother me. I play pretty much everything from blues to classic rock and metal and I’m pretty happy with what I’m hearing so far.

As pointed out by another reviewer, the nut section looks a bit rough. It’s just a cosmetic issue and doesn’t affect playability but still not something I’d expect to see in this price range. That’s why I took out one star from quality.

Classically awesome!

After many years I bought the guitar of my childhood dreams and memories. While I may have more expensive or cheaper guitars over the years, this will forever be "THE" guitar for me. I use this for at home practice and self indulgence, so won't be taking it on the road.

Pros

Sound: amazing clarity and tone across both pickups and across clean and dirtier tones. It's super dynamic, no matter what you want to play.

Playability: It's heavy, but that means you don't need to be super delicate in your playing. the fingerboard feels amazing, and the neck shape really suits me and my style (blues/rock)

Quality: the finish across the body and fretboard is stunning.

Packaging: the guitar comes with a lovely brown hard case and all the details of final inspection.

Cons

Quality: I docked one star under quality. The nut was poorly manufactured. While it didn't seem to have an impact to intonation or action, for this price I expect a top-quality finish in this area and as a result I've had to swap out the guitar. But the key is that I loved the guitar so much, I had to have it at 100%!

Overall

A wonderful guitar that is sure to not let you down
