Harley Benton Coated Electric Guitar 009 Reviews
good for the price
sometimes you need some strings that do a really good job for not too much money. Voila, the HB coated strings. In feel they take a little getting used to (I normally use Ernie Ball or D'addario), but I found myself with a small bit of account credit, and a few guitars needing re-stringing, and took the plunge,
happily buy again
Better than they first seem
I thought I would try these because they are coated strings for the price of uncoated.
I was a bit disappointed to start with, they are noticeably less bright than uncoated strings - with Elixirs I struggle to hear the difference (with my gear and my old ears). The worst thing was they feel odd, a little rough to the touch when sliding up and down the fretboard. I nearly took them off again.
Due to circumstances (I couldn't be arsed to change them) I persisted and found that, once worn in, they develop a really good feel - as good as Elixirs. I've continued to use them and they are lasting really well. I did have a high E string break on one set but that was due to unusually rough treatment (by my standards).
If you are prepared to spend a little time running them in and don't want the very brightest tone these strings will repay you with a great experience and a long life at an amazing price.
These are ALAZING....They last for a YEAR (just dry them off)?.I've NEVER BROKEN ANY.They DO NOT RUST.....and they are ONE THIRD the cost of ELIXIRS (Which I LOVE) BUT 22.50 Vs. 6.99?????, Stunning?.
And when I discovered Elixers I was BLOWN AWAY.....When tou have 20 PLUS guitars RUST DOES BECOME AN ISSUE.....Unless you are Mike Campbell or Joe Perry or somebody who has FULL TIME guy watching over you're BABYS. And take my word for it......HB's DO NOT RUST ,Carrode oe any of THAT BS.....Wipe 'em off & you're GOOD TO GO...?.Sorry D'Adderio Erine & Gibbo?.It's ben wonderfuil... But there's the DOOR...
Forget the rest these are the best!
For the money!
Only kidding, these are actually really good strings I have slightly corrosive sweat which is a pain if I forget to wash my Hands before playing my guitar.
Branded strings are expensive and to be honest probably made in the same factory as these strings.
They have a clean fresh crisp tone bend well and stay in tune when installing the they don't take too long to stretch.
All in all a good purchase and so many deals to be made on multi buys.
For the price there's not much wrong
At the end of the day, most guitarists are picky about their strings and won't go too far from the status quo and stick with their elixirs or whatever suits them best. But, if you're looking for a budget string, you can't really go wrong with these.
Haven't found much in the way of issues, but I don't play more than a couple of times a week so couldn't judge from the point of view of a more professional musician.
Meh...
Use them for standard tuning on a 26.5" guitar and from the second they were on they sounded flat.
String construction is good overall, not sticky like some other budget coated strings and they have lasted for a long time of casual play with no signs of corrosion or wear.
If you're looking for strings to stick on a guitar that you infrequently play then I'd highly recommend these.
Why pay more?
Great value strings for much less than branded coated strings and in fact less than regular branded strings. Give them a go.
I really like these strings as they are really affordable and have the good quality too.
I don't change my strings much as I am on a limited budget so these strings will last longer and perfect for me.
Impressive for the price
These are excellent strings for those guitars that you don't play every day but want to sound fresh and playable when you pick it up.
They're not the best coated strings I've played but for the price they really can't be ignored.
The sound is crisp and bright. and the feel is smooth
they are a great choice for those on a budget or as spares or as i mention on guitars that you don't use that often.
I've bought many more sets to keep on my infrequently used guitars.
Finally strings that don't get rusty after a week
If you suffer from the same hand sweeting problem as I do while playing these are perfect for you, they stay bright for at least 3 times as long as a regular/un-coated string set, and the high E string won't rust after two weeks, they are simply great and last long which is a very valuable aspect if you either don't have that much money to spend on strings every other month or don't play that often, on recordings they do sound better then the regular harley benton strings and the fender 009 set, good luck trying to find another 009 set that doesn't get the high E string rusted after playing with my sweety hands. I will stick to these strings
Great budget end coated string
Purchased for a Harley Benton ST-62 ST style guitar that only gets played once or twice a week at home and for the odd recording project.
Strings are nicely boxed in individual plastic wrappers and don't look like budget end strings.
After installing, the strings settled in quickly and kept stable tuning, initially they feel a little sticky to the touch but this became less noticeable after a few hours of playing, they also aren't quite as bright/twangy as a new set of strings usually are when first installed.
These strings do last longer than standard strings and resist tarnishing and buildup better too.
I'd recommend for anyone looking for a cheaper coated string for a backup instrument that isn't played often or just wants a budget string that doesn't need to be changed as often.
Astonishing value!
I practise pretty much non stop and my hands sweat a corrosive acid that destroys strings. Im a pro musician and I've played for more than 30 years, so I've been through all the brands, including the more expensive coated ones and these are as good if not better than any of the rest and for 3 quid!
I can three weeks out a set of these on my main practice guitars. When the coating goes you'll know about it - the corrosion will start pitting the string, but even as that starts the string will still intonate accurately.
If you're looking at buying your regular Slinkys get these instead.
If your looking at Elixirs or D'Addarios these are just as good for a quarter of the price.
I know I'm gushing, but seriously , I'm amazed.
Value String
I just wanted to buy 3 sets to try them out on my guitars. The sound is flat like Daddario's and the life of the strings are really long. It is still sparkling and looks new. I will use these string for a long time. Recommended for this price!
Nice value for money coated strings
Let me preface this review with the fact that, for the price, I wasn't really expecting Elixirs or anything similar. Still, the Harley Benton coated strings do the job well, albeit not as well as other, more pricey coated strings.
The pros are they do not "dull" the sound as some other similar style sets, the tension's really tight for 9's and I consider them really good value for money, I'm gonna keep buying them and using them!
They do lend a nice ring to the guitar tone that I did not expect, as well. Really nice strings, considering the price.
If you're like me and keen on changing the strings as soon as they get a hint of oxidation, these strings are the ones to get.
They do last more than regular strings and they are way cheaper to replace faster, despite the lower price.
Recommended!
We received these:Harley Benton Coated Electric Guitar 009 strings as a complimentary gift with a replacement item we had sent to us. I've put them onto a Strat. I've just built for one of our members & I popped the top E while I was doing so, (it was probably my fault 'cause I've done it before) & had to fit another onto it. They took a while to settle down but they began holding tune after they had stretched. He said he was happy with the feel & play-ability of them. I'm not a good enough guitar player to offer an opinion, other than they seem as good as many other much more expensive guitar strings I've heard.
Rock On & Good Luck, mddwoody 3.
Great long lasting tone
These strings are great for the price. The sound is clear and bright and stays like that for a long time. I find you need to stretch them a little when you first put them on but they hold tuning well. They have that sticky feel like the other brands but you get used to that. I find they last a similar time to the premium brands for a fraction of the price.
Great value
for this price it's a bargain. Maybe not as good as the elixir, but they are perfect for my extra guitars that are not used very much, but I still had to change strings on because they sounds muddy.
Sound as good as any other strings I've tried.
Only had these on a few weeks so longevity can't be assessed yet. But sound good and intonation is fine. Came in sealed package
