Harley Benton CST-24T Emerald Flame Reviews
It is very good
The only drawback is the quality of the screws inside responsible for the tremolo bar. They are so bad that I accidently made a hole in the screw instead of unsrewing the damn thing when i tried to adjust the tremolo.
Emerald flame 5 star guitar *****
I bought many different guitars, cheap and expensive, but they never came to me plug and play.
Emerald flame did. String height and intonation where setup great.
Nice thick frets no buss. Great sound.
Finish looks very nice especcialy in the sunlight.
One thing that could be improved is that theTremelo arm can fall out of the guitar easily.
Great guitar for this price.
PRS for £200? Don't mind if I do!
This guitar is incredible. The scooped party of the body makes it so easy to play higher frets! Coil splits are fantastic! Sound quality is just phenomenal, build quality the same... Can't recommend this guitar highly enough.
A Lot of Guitar for the Money
I am an Australian buyer and the guitar arrived within 2 weeks.
What a fantastic guitar for the money. It is not perfect, but the imperfections are, in my opinion, irrelevant given the price. The guitar sounds very good through my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe - very full sounding when using the humbuckers, although a little brittle and thin when coil-tapped. The flame top looks spectacular through the emerald green finish. The neck is a darker green and it is difficult to see the wood grain, whereas the front and back of the body are a nice transparent finish.
The guitar feels fantastic to play, but I needed to set it up first. I put new strings on it, lowered the action, intonated and applied GHS Fast Fret to the entire fretboard to make it feel silky (a useful tip as the roseacer wood can be quite dry). After doing this it is a pleasure to play.
There are a few minor issues re attention to detail (e.g. paint colour that crosses ever-so-slightly over the binding in places), but these are of no concern to me. I have been playing for 25 years and am used to playing professional and custom shop guitars. Is this as good as those guitars? No, not quite, but it comes close and is literally 1/20th the price. At the end of the day I really enjoy playing this guitar and it is a worthy addition to my collection.
Excellent for total guitar player
This is my favorite guitar! I bought it because the color and features reminded me of the Brian Moore i9 I once had. Also want to compare with the PRS SE Custom 24 I have.
This guitar is a beauty for its price. The build, intonation, parts excellent. The Wilkinson Tremolo blew me away. It is perfect, comfortable and suited for my style of playing. The Coil tapping PUPS are so good modding is not warranted. The Pots work quite well. Note: it is nobody's fault that the fretboard was dry or that the backplate buckled within a few weeks. The time of year it was shipped and lack of humidity was the culprit. Easily fix with some mineral oil and time in a humidor. The sharp frets went away within a few weeks.
The tone is suited for the player that doesn't want to switch up guitars to change styles of playing. Good single coil sound that has the right amount of bite and Humbucking will satisfy just about anyone. Tonally it is very versatile .
Don't think of this as a cheap one off. Look at this gem as a inexpensive or affordable guitar that you don't have to fret about if something should happen to it.
Excellent guitar
I absolutely love this guitar. Awesome value for money, plays very well and looks georgeous!
CST-22 Harley Benton Heaven
This is fantastic guitar. Great Quality,Great Sounds and a Great Price. I intend on building up my HB collection based on this guitar, which be used on my next album. The neck fits my smaller than normal hands, the position if the controls are placed well. Each switch position gives a clearly defined sound demonstrating the pick ups versatility. The big bonus for is the shape. I am so pleased that Harley Benton has used a body and headstock shape that has the same identity as a far more expensive guitar, and made it affordable. Great guitar/great price.
This is my 2nd CST-24T
I purchased the Green CST-24T to use alongside my Blue one for gigging. I immediately changed the Tuners for locking types and the Electrics for CTS pots and switch and then added a pair of Seymour Duncan P-Rail Pickups, the action is fantastic and whilst the sound was okay with the supplied Roswell pickups, the versatility and clarity of the P-Rails takes it to another level. The quality of the guitars is first rate and the expense of upgrading them was about £260 on top of the £190 for the Guitar it now means I have a fantastic looking, playing (absolutely outstanding action) and sounding guitar for the total sum of £450.
It may not say Gibson, PRS or Fender on the headstock, but I have all of these Guitars in my collection and these Harley Benton CST-24T Guitars play as well as anything else I have and for considerably less money.
Far better than it has any right to be at this price.
This guitar looks gorgeous, plays well, sounds beautiful, and is punching outside its weight class.
PROS:
Finish - Competes well against Schecters and ESP LTD axes of similar styles.
Hardware - Tuners are stable, tremolo block has a lot of mass, bridge is sturdy, intonation adjustments are simple and effective
Playability - Pretty level frets, medium action, smooth fret edges for the most part
Sound - Nice clean tones, pickups not too hot, bridge has a lot of treble to bite through the mix, coil-split offers nice single-coil tones
CONS:
Fretboard - "Roseacer" fretboard is very dry, and will require oiling. Fret edges at 15th fret and higher are less smooth
Electronics - Tone circuit sweet-spot is pretty small - it doesn't take much to get really muddy.
Neck - A satin or oiled-finish neck would be nicer (personally)
Sound - Coil-split volume drop is pretty big. Needs the EQ to get a great tone.
Overall, for the money, I expected far less - especially with the early reviews on Harley Benton guitars. This, however, feels like a steal. If you want double-cut in the PRS or Schecter style, this guitar is a great deal for a lot less.
Killer, especially for the price!
Gorgeous design and a high grade maple veneer, absolutly balanced guitar..no neck dive. The bridge pickup can scream and cuts through the mix. the tremolo is one of the best out there and stable in tuning.
the coil split feature gives you all together 6 different sound and makes it a very versatile guitar.
i like the Roseacer fretboards on HBs, the got a nice grain and i cannot feel a bad thing about them. the resonance is there and the guitar sings beautiful.
only little downside maybe..there were some tiny scratches on the guitar and the neck pickup is not mz favorite but hell...what a guitar! get one!
