Harley Benton Custom Line CLA-16SCE Reviews
Amazing low budget guitar
For the money, look no further. Soft neck, super loud..sounds rough but not in a bad way.
Fantastic Guitar!
Flawless in every aspect. Perfect top, neck, nut, and level frets.
This is such a perfect size- way more comfy that a dreadnaught and still sounds rich and balanced.
My only disappointment: I was told by customer service that it was made in Korea.
Sadly not. MADE IN CHINA.
Strange setup by default
E string is touching A string from the box.
Probably i need to set it up somehow
Unbelievable value
This is a £175 guitar made of solid wood, which sounds fantastic and is beautifully constructed. Any criticisms at this price point are moot and I only include them to offer my limited advice to any new players thinking of buying this. I wish when I first started playing guitar that instruments of this quality were available for this price!
I bought this as a present for somebody who is learning to play, and it required a very small amount of maintenance (he could have easily done this himself with the help of google and youtube).
The frets were rough and needed polishing (I use those fret rubbers). The truss rod was loose when shipped so over the course of a day I brought it to tension and made sure the neck was straight. The nut was cut a little high (but this is a really small issue and I don't have the skill nor tools to make it absolutely perfect, so we can live with it for the moment).
Great guitar
Very good sounding guitar. Very subtle imperfections here and there, but for the price, you can't really complain. Overall a great buy!!
Great Value For Money
Looks great and sounds even better.
Needed no adjustment...just took it out of the box, tuned it with the built in tuner and started playing.
Lovely action...no sore fingers with this.
I've played a lot of acoustics and I haven't played a better one for the money...it plays like a £300+ guitar.
The solid top gives it super resonance and tone.
Not plugged it in yet, so can't comment on that.
Overall, I am very happy with this guitar and would recommend it to anyone.
Great inexpensive acoustic
Bought this guitar to use in a home studio environment. Incredibly satisfied with both the sound quality and the feel of the instrument (as well as the looks!).
Having the tuner and the electronics is incredibly useful even when you're not playing live but I can imagine live it's a lifesaver.
The neck feels pretty nice, it's not very thin or thick, feels like what an acoustic should feel like, nice and comfortable for chords, barres and leads. The cutaway helps with reaching the higher frets.
The guitar has a great sound, I recorded it with an Audio Technica AT2020 and it gives a studio quality acoustic guitar sound. When plugged in, it has the standard "plugged in" acoustic sound (to me at least) which is usable but not ideal for recording music. For live use it's perfectly passable.
I still haven't gotten mine setup or any special treatment, it sounded and played great out of the box, although I do plan to take it to a luthier just to check if anything's wrong.
Overall very satisfied with the quality of the instrument and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who needs a studio acoustic, as well as an acoustic to just play around with.
Great for the price!
This guitar sounds very nice.
Had to adjust the action by sanding down the bone bridge, and turn the truss rod a little bit. Standard stuff.
I have since replaced the stock tuners (which are so-so) with HB locking tuners, which are miles better - now it holds tune amazingly well.
The satin finish has some dust specs here and there if you feel the guitar all over the body and neck (pun intended) with your hand. It is not noticeable while playing.
Edit: replaced the strings with Elixir 80/20 bronze Polyweb Light Acoustic - the sound and playability is much better.
Exactly what I needed
I highly recommend this guitar if you need a reliable acoustic guitar you can plug into an amp for gigs on a budget.
I have gigged it a few times and it has held up nicely!
The in-built tuner is OK for a rough tuning but I needed an external tuner for the gigs for it to be reliable. It mutes the signal when you turn it on which is a handy funtion when playing live!
The EQ is also pretty OK, does the job.
The overal sound is very pleasant, both acoustically and electric. Having also played a 1000 euro guitar which was lent to me, I can hear that this guitar is considerably more affordable, but that is not a very fair comparison.
In conclusion: i bought this because I needed an affordable and reliable guitar for gigs and it has impressed me!
Happy
I wanted a cheap but good recording acoustic guitar. This Harley Benton Custom Line CLA-16SCE fitted the bill very well. For the price it's amazing how good the PUP sounds? It's has a thinner body than regular jumbo acoustics which makes it a very comfortable guitar to play. Intonation is pretty good for non adjustable situation. And I must say it's a cool looking thing.
Amazing guitar
I was pleasantly surprised plays great sounds awesome electronics are perfect it's beautiful machine heads are great nothing bad to say about the guitar it even has my initials on the headstock I would recommend it to anyone
