Harley Benton D-120CE TB Reviews
Can't beat it for the price!
I always wanted an acoustic/electric and this one was well under $100 so I couldn't pass it up. The action was too high so I adjusted it down and it plays good. Some of the frets are a little sharp, but not horrible. It's a very good-looking guitar. The sound is a little tinny but over-all, I'm happy with this guitar.
Perfect for a first acoustic guitar
This is my first Harley Benton instrument. I have to say I was a bit wary about the QC issues, but for the low price I decided to try anyway. I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised! The guitar came with a pretty set-up, no body damage and perfect intonation. I kept trying to find flaws, but aside from one or two finish flaws of 1mm that I couldn't spot unless I was looking with a magnifier, everything was top notch.
The sound: very well-rounded, deep resonance (of course, this being my first acoustic, the bar is set low). Piezo sound is obviously not as good as higher-spec'd acoustic pickups, but it does the job.
Again, for this price, an absolute steal!
Very nice and good guitar for the beginner and also for such a low cost. The neck is little bit rough on the edges but it can be easily fixed with sanding sponge. The sound is quite balanced.
My son who already plays piano and wants to try to play guitar, just love it. He found some new sounds he've been looking for.
What else?
what can we expect from a guitar?
To have a bright and clair sound
What can we expect from a guitar that cost 75?
Not what that guitar provides
The look is amazing and that colorway OMG
The finishing is not premium but wtf? for that price this guitar sound too good
Only needed to be checked with the longevity of the product...
Acoustic electric guitar for use away from home
This is incredible value for this guitar.
I have been playing guitar for the best part of 60 years and, in terms of value for money, is one of the best I have bought. Just to put that it in context I must say it is not the best guitar I have bought but does not fall short on any aspects of being very good in construction, set up, tone and playability. I have had this just over a week and, as always, is acclimatising and being played in to suit me. I will adjust as necessary over the next few weeks, though it is just fine straight out of the box.
The strings are not to my preference, which is probably true for any guitarist who has their preferred brand and type of strings. There is nothing particularly wrong with the strIngs for any new guitarist. The temptation is to find things to criticise to justify having bought such a low priced guitar - notice I have not said ‘cheap’. It is cheap in price but not in quality.
This will be taken with me to leave with a friend when we visit so I always have a guitar available when visiting them, and, I stress, an instrument that is easy to play and sounds good. This fits the bill at a superb price.
The built in pick up and pre amp is a bonus. I have tried it out and found it very acceptable, though that will not get used very much.
That's a very nice and good looking entry level guitar. I've bought it for my son and he is happy.
Best deal for the money
Found this guitar and just said "I have to see for myself if this is too good to be true".
I was amazed when it came to how visually stunning it looks. It came perfectly set up and ready to play.
Great guitar for anyone who wants to pick up an affordable yet good quality instrument.
The pros:
- neck, action and fretboard all feel really good. No trouble or discomfort playing whatsoever
- lovely sound out of the box, tuners also feel great
- I like the fretboard material and it looks much more expensive than it really is
- you get pickguard stickers in both black, and red (patterned) so you can choose if you want to stick it there, or just leave it as it is without a pickguard
- there's a pretty decent sounding pickup with EQ controls on the top of the guitar, making this a very versatile instrument.
Cons:
- frets are kind of harsh, and I got a scratchy feeling when playing higher up on the neck (closer to the hole), but it's manageable and you get used to it
- the pickup gets noisy on higher output levels, and touching the metal part of my cable reduces the noise, making it seem like it's not grounded properly (if that's even a thing on pickups), but on mid/lower volume it's barely noticeable
All in all, this is a guitar that's meant for the people who want to get into playing whilst not breaking the bank, or for those who are curios what you can get for less than 100€ nowadays. Love it.
Excellent for beginners.
A great guitar for beginners at an inexpensive price for the quality.
Been about 3 months. Everything seems to be in working order, guitar arrived in good condition, sounds out perfectly when played.
Only down side for me would be how hard it was to get the Lower E string's bridge pin out, the wood used for the bridge now has somewhat visible dents where the bridge pin puller was strained against.
All in all, this is an excellent guitar for beginners, I would 100% recommend to anyone who's starting out.
great value for money
It is very good for the price. good beginner guitar.
Excellent guitar for low budget
We bought this guitar as a gift for a friend. We didn't expect much, but boy were we surprised. It's a stunning looking guitar that pops out in the crowd. We didn't expect much from the materials, but I got to say that it's a solidly built guitar.
If you're thinking of buying your practice/beginner electro acoustic guitar, this is a must!
Cool acoustic-electric six string
A great acoustic-electric guitar with a nice and easy to use pick-up system. Fine cut, beautiful finish, overall great features. Had a lot of fun in an open D alternate tuning with it. Sounds nice and it's well worth the price. Highly recommended to any guitar player, be them beginners, intermediates or experts.
damaged item received
the received guitar was damaged. problems returning the guitar
Great value for money
I'm a guitar teacher and bought this guitar for a student that was just starting to play. For €75 I was expecting much but I was quite surprised by the quality of this guitar. The action was not bad, the student found it quite easy to play and didn't sound bad either. The finish is really nice too, I must say it looks really nice and quite 'expensive' . Would highly recommend this guitar to any beginner!
Guitar
The guitar itself is a very nice color the neck isnt to thick nor to thin the finish and the color is nice and the strings could be a little better other than that very nice guitar sounds great would use it at a gig or at a campfire (perfect beginner guitar)
Normal
Very good sound and quality worth the price. Stock strings are not very good, you need to change. But for its price a very worthy option.
Unbelievable
A beautiful guitar - perfectly set up pre delivery - I can not find a single flaw - and for what it cost - I was expecting to find a few - This blue colour enhances what is already a wonderful guitar - The second D - 120CE to my collection - I have paid four times plus - for a brand name guitar that doesn't play as good as these
Follow up review
This is the second D - 120 CE I purchased - in order to keep in an alternative tuning - I play it daily and just like my other one it improves, day by day - week by week - to the point - I have basically abandoned my top end guitars - These two guitars are my true love affair now - I am more relaxed because they are easily replaced - cost wise - and my playing has improved greatly - no matter what any witnesses might say - They sound amazing - so do I - [lol]
