Harley Benton DC-580LH CH Vintage Series Reviews
The Mary Poppins of DC guitars
Practically perfect in every way the neck on my guitar is set Toruń up and down and back with zero problems no buzzing what so ever…
I take it back it is perfect in every way my only gripe and it’s not about the guitar its about the limits of left handed guitars…
But that’s for another story enjoy this model because that growl and snarl that made it a staple for that other company is there and ready to go…
Bought for sonâs first adult guitar.
It is great HB have so many lefty options. For a reasonably priced first decent guitar it ticks the boxes. Twin humbucker, set neck and looks like a certain rockers main toy it went down a treat.
Only gripe was the bridge volume pot being flaky, which turned out to be loose and twisting, rather than being a dodgy switch.
Definitely has upgrade potential and stock pickups are reasonable for the moment.
Very good value for money!
I was surprised at how well made he guitar is.
its of course very light and the tuners are a bit finnicky but overall im very happy with my purchase
I just needed an extra guitar to act as my second next to my Epi LP LH Custom Pro
Great SG-style guitar for lefties!
As a huge fan of Tony Iommi I was immediately attracted to this guitar. Instead of buying the Epi tribute for $1k I saved my money and got this DC-580. I couldn’t be happier. At the price it is a steal. The fretwork is great, although they will need a polish. Paint looks great with no blemishes at all. The pickups and electronics are very usable and work well. I may put in a set of P90s to get closer to the Iommi sound.
I have an Epi Iommi signature guitar and this Harley Benton is very comparable at almost 1/8th the price. The neck is a little fatter on the HB and the pickups not quite as lively as the Epi but it’s close enough to be in the same league.
Quality Control is Awful So You're Buying a Project Guitar
I ordered a new (not B-stock) DC-580LH because the DC DLX was not offered in a left-handed version. The guitar came with several notable defects:
1. Five high frets that caused buzzing on multiple strings, even after checking the relief and action height. It requires filing the frets to fix.
2. The bridge was defective. The saddles were installed in the wrong order (with the short outer one installed on the 3rd string), and the short saddle was itself made incorrectly; strings going over that saddle did not clear the rest of the bridge. At a minimum, a replacement saddle is needed, if a single saddle is available, or the entire bridge.
3. The back of the guitar has a large 10 cm x 10 cm finish blemish that looks like a large water spot.
The end result is that the DC580 has to be seen as a "project guitar" that you use to modify and improve your skills as a technician or luthier or to pay a professional. If you're looking for an immediately playable instrument, you may or may not receive one.
great guitar with a fantastic price
Looks perfect, plays even better.
great budget guitar
Plays very well, sounds good enough. A reliable workhorse that is extremely good value for money.
Love it
I’ve had this guitar for months, playable out the box besides slight tweaking for preference. Awesome.
great value for money
well built guitar, looks great and played well out of the box.
Nothing But Impressed
2 guitars came from Germany to US and not even a ding on the outer box. This guitar is for my grandson who plays in a local band. He loves the way it looks and the way it plays. Harley Benton Guitars I think are way under rated. This guitar is beautiful with no fret or neck issues.
SG Tribute
I always fancied a Gibson sg but my playing ability doesn't justify laying out a bunch of dollar (just yet)😀 This HB version is a perfect stopgap. It's a lovely looking guitar very comfortable to play and sounds great. Alot of quality for such a great price 👍✌
Better than expected - by far!
Arrived in perfect condition - no blemishes at all. No problem there. No fret sprouts on neck - smooth as butter. Strings as usual showing slight signs of corrosion, but I always restring immediately. Fitted with D'Addario 9 gauge set and away she went. No issues with intonation and the action was already super low. The fretboard needs lemon oil as it was quite dry, but not an issue. This double cut is the equal to Epiphone for sure. I would recommend this (lightweight) guitar to anyone, newbie to seasoned played. We all need an SG type guitar in our arsenal. Only gripe is the lack of colour choice for us lefties.
A great left handed instrument!
Great quality, very good sound, sweet looking guitar for that money. Couldnt be more pleased with that guitar. Recommended 100%
Looks great, sounds rough
The finish and general feeling on hands is quite good; That's definitely not a cheap looking guitar.
It's only flaw for me is regarding it's general growl. I never played the real SG so I don't know if it got the same sound profile but so far I feel it kinda weak on the high ends. Lows are great tho. Anyway, great for some muddy doom, stoner or vintage rock but it definitely does lack the versatility of a less expensive strat-like you could buy from HB.
Nice left-handed guitar
Before that, there was a guitar for right-handers, because when I bought it, I did not know about this site, and where I live for my left hand, guitars are very dear to me.
Nice appearance, new shape for me, small price. That's what interested me. When connected, I heard a sound different from the previous one, much brighter.
In general, this is a very nice and well-made guitar.
Very beautiful guitar, Good choice
Excellent
Living my teenage Angus Young dream
Wow! Big Bang for the buck!
This is a great bargain for the left-handed guitarist looking for quality affordably priced. I am very impressed with the overall quality of the HB DC-580LH CH Vintage model. The neck is lacquered and silky smooth, frets are polished and snag-free, action set just right for my playing style. Minor tuning needed but not a problem. Easy to play, no buzzing, rich sound on the low-end, great tone across middle and high end. For the money, a great buy, looks and plays like a more expensive guitar. If only shipping costs were reduced!
very good guitar as beginner
has good hot pickups and snarls like you want an sg type guitar to snarl. nice neck but feels very light which will take some getting used to, great finish and showed up in ready to play shape.
