Harley Benton DC-DLX Gotoh Shell Pink Reviews
Amazing
This guitar plays way better than it should at this price range and is ready to go out the box,
second time
second time buying the same guitar. nuff said. sold it cause i was a wuss and was scared to have the colour (lame i know - be a man and use that pink guitar with pride!!). regretted it. never got a better sound/feel since, so i literally bought the same guitar again. what can i say, i just love it. my fav guitar ever i think. thanks guys <3
A better version of a SG
Yeah, it is a SG like guitar, but I would say that it is better than original.
Body is slightly thicker and heavier, with almost no neckdive.
The colour looks white, to me, and my 4 friends, so, you really need a great vision to see pink :D
Finish is so matte, that the guitar is slippery, its great for the neck, but it also likes to slip over my leg..
some pros:
- gotoh hardware looks perfect
- guitar stay in tune ( I check it once a day, and its mint)
- pickups are very good, and I will not replace them, ever, bridge is kinda on a brighter side. But all in all very detailed tone...
- love the coil split, I almost use it more than a humbucker mode
- nut is cut like it should
- no frets sticking out of the body, or sharp edges
some cons:
- guitar on the finish have some tiny black spots
- someone leave black fingerprint on tha back of the neck
- frets are scratchy, and they need polishing
- fretboard was very dry, and had some residue, like a glue
- some white tiny dots on the fretboard, near the body
And this which I wont count as cons, you should lower the action by lowering the bridge, and slightly adjust the trusroad because the neck was too flat...
All in all, it's unbeatable price, for a guitar with tusq nut, gotoh hardware, stainless frets, tesla pickups, and dadario strings.
amazing guitar
these guitar it's just amazing,it is rly well done, feels amazings and has only one problem,it has neckdive but that's the only problem it has,it's perfect
The most under rated guitar from Harley Benton
This thing is the best guitar from Harley Benton hands down, colour is great, and the pickups are clear and amazing sounding.
Great guitar for the money
I am a gigging musician, I play about 180 gigs a year. Bought this a couple of months ago, the guitar out of the box was great. The only problem is the neck dive, but this is an sg problem, not of this particular guitar only. I don't understand why people use the term entry level, student guitar etc. If a guitar plays well, stays in tune through a 2 hrs gig and is comfortable, and a pro like me can use it, why are we knocking it back? Don't be a headstock snob, try before you buy, for what you pay the guitar is simply awesome.
Hot Pink Perfection
Another perfect guitar from Harley Benton.
The finish doesn't have any marks or imperfections, the fret work is perfect, the tuners just do not go out of tune, the setup and intonation were perfect, the neck profile is just in that Goldie Locks Zone of not too fat or thin and the pickups sound so good! I've never heard of Telsa Pickups before but they are absolutely fantastic, they sparkle clean and dirty up really well without every getting muddy or shrill.
This guitar is a must buy and I would recommend it in a heartbeat.
Best bang for the buck pro guitar at an amateur price
If you want to play and sound like a pro this is a great way to go!!
Amazing Value!
For the cost of the guitar, the features provided are bar none the best you can buy. Why?
Let's start with the obvious Gotoh machine head tuners, arguably one of the most important aspects to a guitar. As a performer, you do not want to be tuning your guitar every song or worst yet, go out of tune in the middle of a song!
This guitar also includes GraphTech Tusq nut which aids to avoid string binding at the nut, as well as long lasting medium jumbo stainless steel frets for very high durability.
Outfitted with 2 Tesla VR-2 AlNiCo 5 Humbuckers, the sounds you can get from this guitar allows it to perform with the best of them. And to kick it up a notch, the 1 volume/1 tone control knob has a built in push/pull knob allowing you to split the coils of the humbucker to achieve that sweet single coil tones.
The only reason I couldn't give this full marks is I needed to polish the frets as they showed signs of oxidation (they felt very rough and the strings scraped the frets as you bent the strings). On top of that, there are signs of fret-sprouting (the wood may have shrunk due to change in humidity exposing the ends of the frets to your hand). These two aspects adversely affected the out of the box experience, fortunately I was able to address both issues to an acceptable degree.
TL;DR, If you're looking for your first guitar and you have a strict budget but do not want to compromise on high end specifications, this guitar is right for you!
