Harley Benton Electric Guitar Kit T-Style Reviews
Far far better than expected. Great job by Harley Benton.
Good kit if you want to have fun with mods
This guitar will not sound like a Telecaster, nor will it be of the same quality. For me it was the introduction to guitar and it gave me more than I could ask for. A cheap introduction into guitars and an accesible way to mod a guitar beyond any recognition. Overall - you get what you pay for - an opportunity to get into something new (without breaking the bank)
Easy build
One of the easiest self builds on the market. What makes it so easy to build is the quality of the materials. They are all excellent and well fitting. Donât be tempted to go elsewhere as this product is unbeatable
Experiment
I bought this guitar kit, because I always wanted to build my own guitar. The set is made for begginers and I was quite surprised how easy it was to assemble. I can say the frets are clean and somewhat polished, but need extra work before setting up the action. Pickups are not so great, but you can expect that for the price. I left natural look of the guitar, onlz protected it for wether conditions. overall, I+m satisfied with my purchase, knowing what to expect and giving myself a but of a challange.
Pleasantly surprised.
From other reviews and YouTube builds I was expecting something fairly useable and upgradeable. The end result is much better than my expectstions. Not missing any parts, all pre drilled correctly. Fret finish excellent and neck did not require any adjustment. Keeps tune after initial stringing and stretching. Only two minor issues, the jack plug socket solder connections were bent and would not initially push through the body cavity. Secondly the build order is incorrect. If the neck is mounted at the beginning it is not possible to insert the pickguard at the end. Leave the neck until last. Had expected to have to consider various part upgrades straight away but other than changing the strings I am very happy with the outcome.
Great for the price
The kit itself is super easy to assemble, there's no need to even solder the wires. I shaped the neck's head with a jigsaw easily and covered everything except the fretboard with tung oil, totally happy about how it looks and feels
Playing gigs with this one :D
Absolutely Great Guitar kit!
Really high quality components. I love the neck on this guitar! It plays so nice! The wood is Beautiful, and easy to sand and stain. I easily contoured the body with a palm sander for a personal comfortable fit. I'm a first builder and found the instructions pretty straightforward. I upgraded the pickups and controls, and the guitar sounds Amazing!!! THIS IS NOW MY FAVORITE GUITAR EVER!!!
SON WAS OVER THE MOON FOR HIS BIRTHDAY PRESENT
MY SON ENJOYED PUTTING HIS GUITAR KIT TOGETHER PAINING PLAYING IT AND SO HAPPY WITH ALL , THANKYOU.
Used on a 3d printed body
I loved how easy this was to put together. Everything fit really well and the sound is pretty good. I put all of this on a 3d printed body and it works quite well.
Good for the price
It's a good instrument for the price and its comfortable
Not bad
Come into this understanding it's not going to be top end components and this is fine. Was a fun project to do. Well worth the very small amount of money involved. enjoy the process!
This is amazing for the price and the creative options you can apply on this!
Ok so I did things a little bit diffrent, I used only the guitar head and electronics and not the body because I was 3d printing the body.
and I gotta say something the guitar looks and play even better than I thought in as cheap as this price!
This became my favorite guitar also because it is so nice looking because you can make it however you would like or stay with the wooden which is also looking very cool. but also because when you build something the product is much more fun to use and get you some pride we all want (:
my only complaint is that the instructions weren't the best and could be better if every single step will be explained because it is hard to follow it without very good building mind. but thats all I reccomend to everyone you should really buy it!
Excellent for the money
Great thing to feel yourself as guitar builder. Everything fits well. Quite good wood. Hardware and pickups for the money. The only dissapointing thing is screws for tuners, in my case first had broken and part of it stuck in neck, so I have to deal with it, recommend to buy another ones for assembly. Everything else just like a lego for adults. Thinking to buy Jaguar from the same series to try p90s and repeat emotions of assembly.
Perfect Kit
This kit was perfect to my 3D printed Guitar
Very good quality of the woods and fine components
I saw a lot of reviews online and on youtube before buying this kit, mostly positive comments worldwide.
Everything is absolutely confirmed personally. Great feeling about the woods quality, both the body and the neck. The pickups and the bridge are very good and the rest is more than OK. I am already thinking of updating it but the guitar sounds good just as it is. Very good value for the price paid. It's a lot of fun to customize the guitar as you like, especially if you like arts and painting as myself. I am already buying another one but this time, Strat style. Very good deal!
Surprisingly, you don't get what you pay for.
The bridge is not reinforced with 4 screw holes like seen in the picture. The neck does not have a clean, balanced appearance on the frets. The wood is cut so roughly that there's massive inch long fragments blocking the electronics from sitting in their holes. The pickup is thicker than it should be and has a massive magnet's worth of excessive bulk. The headstock is like a ping pong paddle. Even for someone's first guitar I could imagine being disappointed. Shipping cost is prohibitively freakish and despite the kit itself being packaged in a short thin box, that box was in a massive 5 foot tall box with hardly any padding.
Thank you very much I love it
Great guitar kit for building (even if going off script)
I am an experienced guitar player, but never have built a guitar. I have always wanted to so this kit, even with shipping to the US (I bought two) was very reasonable.
I purchased this guitar because I am also into 3d printing, and the company Prusa 3d released the "Prusa Caster" which is based on this kit. The general idea is that you 3d print the body of the guitar parts instead of using the wood body. Everything else is used (neck, tuners, all electronics, etc.).
I did not do anything fancy with this guitar other than assemble it, but used the 3d printed parts (which are glued and took about 80 hours of printing). The only issue that I ran into is that one of the heads of the screws broke, even while I was using a hand screwdriver. I had to use a left handed drill bit to remove the screw. The screw quality seems to be low. Definitely take your time screwing in and don't be in a hurry. Luckily, there were enough spare screws that it didn't matter.
After the assembly, I did notice the top string was buzzing and I spent quite a bit of time adjusting the neck and then setting the string height on the bridge, and then adjusting the intonation also on the bridge. It took me about an hour to get everything to a point that I would consider "good enough".
I noticed that other reviewers mention the need to adjust the nut and fret. I think that is a good idea and wish I had read the reviews first so I knew to check this. I may look into this adjustment for the future.
Conclusion: I am used to playing $1000+ guitars. This is definitely not as good out of the box, so make sure you have realistic expectations. If you are a skilled guitar builder I think you could do a lot to make this a great guitar. I have no complaints about the sound or pick up, they sound as good as a real Fender Strat in my opinion. The best part about this guitar kit is you can say you built it and have the proud feeling of doing that, and make it whatever you want.
My HBT40 ( T-style kit )
It was easy and fun to put together. The build quality is actually much better than I expected, only some frets stick out. Doesn’t sound bad either.
