Harley Benton Extreme Metal Reviews
Good value for the price.
Good beginner pedal to get a variety of metal tones. Clear sound.
Good product for your money.
You shouldn't expect much for this money, but for a small concert or to play at home it will do.
Good quality good value
Clone of the Electro Harmonix Metal Muff
Great build quality, Silent dosent hiss or hum with no input, good bypass, good controls, good range of sounds and tones availiable, boost works great with compressor placed infront of it. not sure about the extreme metal name, its no HM2 (no chainsaw/buzzsaw swedish death metal tone) but overall I would say a good general Metal distortion pedal.
Great Value for money
Great pedal. For the full range of sounds that this pedal is capable of you need to put the guitar signal first through a compressor then into the Extreme Metal pedal.
it's very good for the price.
Good sound, but noisy
This pedal has a great metal sound (I love it!). Ideal for lead lines. The only thing that lets me down is that I have to switch of the pedal immediatly after playing, because it can be very noisy.
Good value for the money though...
Harley Benton Extreme Metal
It sounds great in front of a Laney LC30-ii, great sound, not harsh at all.
At first, I thought it was average when I was using it for recording direct into an audio interface.
An amp makes all the difference.
Nice distortion pedal.
It is a sturdy well made pedal. A good choice of options to manipulate the sound. The only thing that, to me, I found lacking is that you can not engage the boost section on it's on (the boost only works if you have the distortion already on).
Harley Benton Extreme - 76 BK Classic Series
it's very good for the price.
A handy shortcut to metal!
Bought this on a whim to explore some more extreme gain territory in a way I could switch on with my feet. Very usable tones in general if you're not too fussy, and a great way to get a satisfying metal "chug"! The boost switch is probably better left ignored - it seems to send the pedal into unusable territory, so it's probably best not to buy this with the intent to use that function as a boost for solos - it just ends up hissy. Slight issues with the construction of mine - very sturdy casing, but occasionally the connection fails and needs to be switched on and off again a few times to make it work again. Probably an easy fix, but I haven't been too bothered - I mostly use it at home anyway!
One trick pony
I use if for pop-rock band lead guitar with drive turned to the near minimum. Sound is great and suits me well. It only the one sound, not a big variety thing. So not a lot of features. But quality and looks are great.
A solid, very usable pedal.
I bought this pedal to use in front of a solid state amp for a death metal band. The amp i was using wasn't capable of high gain in the slightest and this pedal added more than enough to play death metal.
You have EQ, gain, volume and a boost. Weirdly, the boost seems to affect the tone, but as I always had the boost on for a little extra volume with the gain set around 50%, it wasn't really an issue for me but is something to consider if you plan on using the boost for solos - it will change your tone.
Everything feels nice and solid, it's got a metal housing, the knobs are chunky and solid and turn smoothly and the footswitches have a nice solid click to them. The only problem I encountered is that for some reason I can't quite fit a 9V battery through the battery door as the opening isn't quite big enough. Since the back plate has screws that can be undone I just removed that and swapped the battery out that way, but if you use a power supply its not an issue. All in all, a nice pedal.
A truly metal experience
I brought this pedal because I needed a cheap alternative for a tour situation. Was very pleasantly surprised, not only the two effects are very distincted, but also the sound changes provide alot of possibilities and styles. The gain regulation can work also if you want to trow some dirt on your blues. Levels and volume are very detailed for his price range. Thebox is in metal so it's not easy to break. Only reason for no five stars are the knobs that look a little fragile. If you have to start with ametal pedal buy this one.
metal pedal
it's a clone of METAL MUFF, but it's better, for me obviously, the top boost is much more useful than in the METAL MUFF, the space between the footswitch permits a simultaneous actuation, good very good metal distortion pedal. advice
Extreme
Great pedal. For the full range of sounds that this pedal is capable of you need to put the guitar signal first through a compressor then into the Extreme Metal pedal.
With a compressor in place and the Boost footswitch engaged it does make a big difference with actual boost present. When no compressor is present the Boost switch makes very little difference at all.
This pedal is extreme distortion, overtones are also present. The Low bass area of sound can be adjusted and gives a solid sound, the High and Middle tones can be adjusted too with a good overall tonal range and a powerful distortion.
The Gain covers a wide range of distortion - make sure you have a compressor before this pedal to get the full on max extreme sustained sounds and get the full range of tones and distortions this great pedal is capable of delivering.
Extreme Metal - My favorite distortion pedal!
I bought this pedal because I was looking for a distortion pedal that gives me a modern and powerful distortion tone and doesn't cost too much. This pedal was perfect!
The tones that this distortion pedal can produce are just incredible. It took me about 5 minutes to find a tone that I loved and I've been using that same tone since.
But thats just my preference, this pedal can do much more than that.
This pedal can produce almost any tone, bright and crunchy for rock or dark and powerful for heavy metal...
The Boost switch is a frequency boost NOT A VOLUME BOOST!
It controls the frequency from 3.5kHz to 4.3kHz (according to the manual)
I use the Boost to get a more digital sounding tone because thats the only thing I found it useful for.
This pedal is made of metal so it should be able to survive almost anything.
Theres a nice little door-like thingy (I have no idea what it's actually called) for the battery so you dont need to have a screwdriver to change the battery. Or you can just use a 9v power supply.
Overall I think this pedal is good for producing almost any type of tone. The only bad thing I can say about it is that I would be nice if the Boost swich was a volume boost instead of a frequency boost.
Good value for a dirty Pedal.
Haven't played it a whole lot , but what i've heard, i like.Got a few other Distortion pedals and this one seems good value for the money you paying for it.A little bit bulky if you are going to cart it around with you , but i bet you it will look real cool on stage , and hopefully sound real cool if you are playing live on stage.Defenitaly a good buy if you like rock or metal.Good one Harley Benton

Nice distortion pedal with many setting-possibilities
For the money that this pedal costs it is quiet fine. The workmanship is perfect (better than of some 3times more expensive pedals). It has a wide range of distortion regulation with different sound variations. Separate deep and high regulations, an addition boost knob and regulator. This really enables the user to create different distortion sounds. However the sound is fine but still not on the edge of possibilities. So for standard use it is a real recommandation for stage use and people which are ready/able to spent much more money for a distoration pedal, there is a degree of comparison. Interesting is also the use of the pedal in combination with an overdrive pedal which rises the tone variations one more time.
Does more than just metal
I bought this because I was building a pedal board and didn't want to spend a fortune. I was really impressed with build quality, it's solid as a rock and would have no qualms taking this to gigs.
The sounds from the boost switch can be a little harsh, but overall this does everything from medium to high gain pretty well. I use mine in front of a valve blackstar and it sounds really thick when doing some low dirty riffs. Try experimenting with your guitars volume for the best results.
