Excellent Bachata Ax

I mainly play Bachata Guitar (Afro Caribbean Genre from Dominican Republic). The Finish, coil split, and and ergonomic features are great! My favorite feature is the roasted maple neck, and stainless steal frets. Other key features for me are the knobs position (perfect for Bachata thumb-pick technique). This is my favorite Fusion guitar!

Amazing Instrument

I decided to buy this guitar because I loved the idea of owning an instrument with a roasted maple neck. The rest of the features were also too good to miss.

I was initially not very keen on the finish of the body, but I have changed my mind after seeing the guitar in real life and I love it now. From the pictures on the site and many videos I looked at I thought that the fretboard would be kind of dry and dull but it is actually really nicely finished and has kind of a subtle spark in it when the light falls on it. The neck is smooth and has a nice roasted maple smell to it. The neck is a bit chunky, but in a confortable way. It feels thicker than the one on my Classic Vibe 60s strat.

The hardware is nice and the pickups sound amazing. The whole guitar is very resonant and, I might be wrong, but I think it is the stainless steel frets that seem to give it a beautifully bright tone. That combined with the smoothness of the fretboard make the Fusion-T play like butter. The tremolo works great also and the strings stay in tune nicely.

Sadly, my guitar came with a few imperfections in the finish. I think it is dirt caught in the lacquer. There are a few black spots all around the body. The nut is also a bit poorly cut underneath the G string, causing it to ping when I perform wide vibratos between the 3rd and 5th frets. That's easy to fix and I'll handle it the next time I change the strings. The strings provided are also really nice, by the way.

Overall, the guitar is worth the money and maybe more.

good guitar for the price

the attention to detail on this guitar is awesome for its price...immaculate detail in the finish, neck feels super good..only minor things i would change...first, the selector switch is in a annoying place....my picking hand constantly bumps it....next, the roswell pickups werent quite as clear and strong as i'd like, but i just replaced them with seymour duncan humbuckers...its now competing hard with my esp/ltd ec-1000, a $1100 guitar...just please re-locate that switch...one thing that made me shake my head: i also ordered the harley benton flight case, as this guitar was getting shipped from germany to america...i would think common sense would say "ship the guitar INSIDE the flight case"....isnt that what a flight case is for? thats the whole reason i bought the case...but the guitar was shipped WITH the case, inside the same cardboard box, but not inside the case...it was weird...luckily, no guitar damage, but the entire point of me buying the case was just negated....still, it got here ok and i can breathe easier.

Exceptional guitar. Buy it now. Spoken from a professional.

Pros: Easily on par with $900-$1000 guitar range. Flawless neck. Fit and finish is excellent. Roswell pickups are crisp and cut right through. Very easy to dial in a wide variety of rock, jazz, blues, country tones. Action was very playable out of the box.

Cons: One of the the trem claw screw holes was stripped so i replaced both with 2 slightly larger screws (same length). Not a huge issue but it would have become a tuning stability issue down the road. Not worth sending this beautiful guitar back. An easy fix and I'm not a flaw by any means.

What I changed: The trem came with 3 springs and was a bit stiff for me. I like my trems to float and flutter easily like a Floyd - nice and "spongy". I've had several Wilkinson trems and they've all been great. I've had no problem setting these up with 2 springs if you like a similar feel. The bridge saddles are set to be parallel with the guitar which makes the baseplate actually set at a slight angle. I had to lower the saddle height in order to bring the angle of the baseplate parallel. The action on this is incredibly low with zero fret buzz. Incredible. I had people asking to play it who all said the same thing: "Amazing". Bu this guitar now. It is surely one of the best guitar i have ever played and I like my guitars setup a very specific way. It was easy to make some adjustments which is expected. This guitar is nearly perfect except for the screw hole and that is nothing. The cavities were completely clean and groomed well. Seriously - just a beautiful guitar.

Shocked

Received the Guitar, which was in perfect condition and had survived the Journey from Germany to Scotland with no issues.

The build quality and fit and finish is beyond my expectations for a guitar at this price point.

The roasted Maple neck and fingerboard are a joy to play and to look at, superb figuring to neck and fingerboard and again far outweighs its price. Stainless steel frets have been finished impeccably and again at this price point is an astounding feature.

Trem stays in tune well and machine heads do their job well.

Not totally convinced about the pickups yet as have not had a chance to play the guitar at volume through an amp, but they record well in humbucking for split coil mode.

I own a number of high end American made guitars which cost thousands of pounds to buy new and the Harley Benton stands up well against these...I am shocked and more than surprised....this is my first taste of the Harley Benton brand but will most certainly not be my last! A convert for sure!
