Harley Benton GS-Travel Mahogany Reviews
Very satisfied
Guitar is very descent with amazing sound, it feels like you are using Taylor Gs mini.
A Beautiful guitar
This is my first acoustic guitar, and I'm glad I have bought this brand. The cons for me is that I find the V neck a bit harder to use than C neck guitars, but otherwise really good quality and sounds blissful. Perfect size for a small person like me! and for travelling too.
Definitely a value for money.
Okay for 100EUR
Ordered this baby as a test subject before i will buy a Taylor GS Mini (the Mahogany version). Never had any experience with smaller size guitars before and unfortunately there are no places to try the instrument out in my country.
Overall its a great instrument for those 100eur that you could waste on something else :D . It's ideal place would be on the beach \ near the campfire \ somewhere where you will be afraid to take a 600-700 eur costy guitar.
Pros:
- It was delivered and its alive. Did not have any particular flaws. Tuned it up a little bit and its playable.
- Sound is ok - you would expect this kind of sound from a bigger instrument. For example my 00 acoustic (also a cheapo one) sounds pretty much alike in terms of loudness and depth
- Very small and very light. Prefect size for if you have small hands. Would be ideal for kids.
- This would be a good one for a first instrument
Cons
- The bag is not so good. Only usable outside with good weather. If it rains or if its cold - your instrument will be damaged. Will use it only once - to carry this guitar home.
- My instrument arrived with a scratched pickguard. its not a big deal.
- The neck had some strange white marks on the back side towards the tuning pegs
Cheap but great.
I was looking for a travel guitar, something you can easily carry to the beach with friends and stuff like that. Well, it surprised me how good this guitar sounds for this price range. The setup was also well done. With a new set of strings you can get some very nice, mellow tunes with this guitar. Highly recommended.
I don't know how they do it.
The quality of this guitar amazes me every day. I was making the switch from ukulele to guitar and so wanted something that would make the switch easier. I did soooo much research weighing up between the Yamaha ApeX and the Harley Benton. I went with this and I don't regret it one bit. For starters it's half the price. But that doesn't mean you get less quality. The delivery was pretty quick and it comes with a high-quality travel bag. The guitar itself is made of lovely mahogany wood and the neck has a good shape. And then there's the sound. ahhh. It packs so much punch for a small guitar. It really holds its own next to a normal guitar in terms of volume. But the tone is my favourite part. It's got this gorgeous full warm sound. As you can tell i'm so happy with this guitar. I don't know how they do it for this price. It's mad.
Just...wow
I originally ordered this as a secondary cheap guitar I could take out and about and not worry about it getting bashed around. I had a much more expensive (£600-700 price range) acoustic which I have now sold because of how much I love this guitar.
It sounds great, it's a small body so it isn't mega bassy, but I've had issues with boomy acoustic guitars whilst recording in the past, and this thing records better than any other acoustic I've ever used. It plays amazingly well, especially for the money. The action and feel is very light and easy to play, contrary to my "proper" acoustic.
If I had to be super picky, the only thing about it I don't like is the neck profile feels a little weirdly shaped, but that is me TRYING to find fault with it. A neck strap nut would've been nice too.
My friend tried mine and ordered the electro-acoustic version, which also plays and feels awesome. I regret not getting that version myself. If this guitar got damaged, I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
Great for home and Travel
I bought this one and the Harley Benton Traveler-Steel for testing and my decision was clear from the first tones. This guitar is just a little smaller than a usual one and therefore has a clear volume and sound. Ill take it everywhere and love the sound. Further it comes with a bag and is made from beautiful dark wood. So concluding I can say its a beauty for eyes and ears and I really like it! Thanks! :)
Did I just pay ONLY 99⬠for this?
Took some time to finally get hold of my ordered guitar. But once I did, wow. Considering the price, this is in my humble opinion the best guitar to buy when on a budget or if one is in need of a travel guitar. Playable right out of the box. The action on the guitar is unexpectedly decent. The sound is just so warm and mellow. I might just look into Harley Benton's electric guitars now.
Highly recommended!
Nice travel guitar, but you cant cheat physics
I bought this guitar thinking it would be a good learning guitar for my girlfriend and it is, but it does have a sacrifice on sound because of how small it is. It manages to put out more than i would have imagined but in the end it was a little bit hollow for my tastes, so I picked something a little big larger and was happy!
If youre looking for a small guitar to travel with, I would openly recommend this but if you dont mind something bigger, you should go bigger. This is a great little guitar but just not what I was looking for.
Arrived yesterday very well packed. The guitar is outstanding value for the price a couple of problems a small scratch and scuff mark on the back and a small over drill mark on the bridge. This said it is a very good looking guitar with beautiful wood and good tuners. The strings suit the guitar and give a really nice warm tone, one you would expect from a guitar four times the price. Overall I am very, very pleased with the guitar and haven't put it down yet it's a really playable guitar with a fantastic sound.
Cannot imagine a better guitar exists in this price range.
Excellent product for the price!!
So I am studying/working abroad these last couple of years and I really missed music here since I could not bring my instruments with me. I thought I would buy a cheap, small and portable guitar to at least quench my thirst for music while away from home, but boy was I surprised by the quality of this nifty little guitar. It just feels solid. Perfect size to play it and rest it anywhere, without any trouble. For that size the sound produced is also a feat!! Of course not as full and warm but beautiful nontheless. I love the design and how easy it is to play. The action was a little bit high for my taste but I filed the bridge a bit and is now good enough. All in all I would recommend it for anyone that is looking for a portable, easy to handle guitar, without compromising the sound so much and above all without breaking the bank.
Great guitar
Beautiful little guitar I cannot find any fault to the instrument, great setup from the box, altogether it is a steal at this price.
How do they do it?
I own this guitar for almost 2 years now and I absolutely love it. It's my only guitar at the moment and I play it daily.
I have been playing guitar for about 10 years. I mostly fingerpick and this is where this little guitar excells. It can also handle some light strumming but don't expect wonders.
All in all I would certainly recommend this guitar to beginners but also to more advanced players looking or a great little guitar to leave around in the living room or to take on holidays.
I have owned more expensive Takamine guitars and sold them all beccause I didn't play them anymore.
Flawless
Perfect travel sized guitar. Sounds wonderful and plays great.
Outstanding
This guitar completely exceeded all expectations.
The pictures on the website don't really do it justice- it looks absolutely gorgeous, and my first reaction when unpacking was "WOW!".
The body feels silky-smooth to touch & the neck is super-comfortable (I really like the "V" shape which I haven't experienced before). It has a beautiful tone and is a complete joy to play.
Action is perfect and the nut has been well-cut. The stock strings are surprisingly good, and I'm really impressed with the gig bag.
I thought that this would be just a 'fun' guitar, but in reality it has made my other acoustic (a 'big name' dreadnought) largely redundant.
I'd recommend this to anyone without hesitation.
Excellent budget instrument, good full sound despite the size
I bought this guitar for my occasional pub jamming and I am really impressed by it?s design, sound, lightness, tuning, price. I would 100% recommend to anyone looking for cheap quality guitar. It is the only travel/mini guitar being played within our group of 4 guitarists and even on the noisy Friday night it stands out with it?s clear sound. The neck and the fretboard are very nice and smooth to touch. Very easy to play, good for beginners or even professionals as a spare/travel guitar. Definitely good choice.
Good guitar
I was looking for an affordable folk guitar that could easily be carried around and was positively surprised with this intrument. It is a good value for money so I recommend this product (especially for beginners).
Pros:
- The sound quality is globally satisfying
- The neck is comfortable
- The finishing is very neat and the guitar looks good
- The guitar's travel size makes it easier to carry around
Cons:
- Some frets make a sizzeling sound
- The guitar looses tune quite rapidly
- The sound saturation level is pretty low
good - especially considering the price
I have the GS Travel Mahogany version - without a pickup, sounds really nice to my ears, both strummed or fingerpicked. The bass is a bit quieter, but I guess that's expected. The fret ends stick out a bit, not very much. Really comfortable to play, while sitting on the couch :). I would have liked it to come with a second strap button, but that's no big deal. The included gigbag is very useful and provides good protection.
Amazing travel size guitar
Even after watching many reviews I still had my doubts.
But as soon as I held this beautiful little guitar in my hands and started playing it, my doubts disappeared and turned to joy.
I have been looking for a good affordable travel guitar for a while and have tried several, from very well known and reputable companies.
None of them was as comfortable and fun to play as this one.
Including several that are about 4 or 5 times the price.
The build quality is very good even if it has a few small flaws in the cosmetics (left over glue in several spots and small finishing issues, but nothing that affects the functionality).
It came very well set up and the gig bag provided with it is very nice.
It feels well put together, the unbranded tuning machine work well and the sound it produces is great and much deeper and more resonating then I had expected from a travel size guitar.
I would have liked it more if it had a preamp and tuner already built in, just for lazy people like me.
All in all an awesome little guitar with a much bigger sound and good quality, nothing I could find even comes close to it in this price range and even 4 or 5 times it's price range.
Well done Harley Benton!
simply great instrument
Guitar is great, well-made and ready to play just after unboxing. I think it's matchless at this price, so if you're looking for simple, convenient and quite loud acoustic guitar, I can recommend this one without any doubts.
