Harley Benton HB JA-60 OW 5-stars Reviews
Stunning guitar to look at and play. Have 6 harley bentons and they are all top quality.
Great
The guitar is simply space, the mesmerizing sound of the pickups especially on the neck, a specific and very readable sound both clean and overdriven. The guitar turned out to be quite light and with good sustain.
My keeper
I just play to entertain myself, but I have several guitars. Various makes and models, none very expensive. If I could only keep one, the HB JA-60 would be the one. Light. Plays so easy. Neck feels great for my hand. I've played guitars in stores with tags 10 times the price and I would still pick this one.
Unbelievable
This is my fifth (!) Harley Benton HB JA-60, and all of them deserve a very high rating. The build quality is almost impeccable. So, given the very affordable price, this guitar is really unique. My advice is: grab one until they last. The only point of moderate criticism is pickups. They are generally okay, but in my opinion a little bit "thin" compared to what I'd expect from a classic P90. To conclude, my overall assessment of this guitar is this: Bravo!
Great budget offset
Much better than I expected. Just needed a little setup and some fret dressing for a bit of fret sprout, but plays really well!
Still one of my favourite quitars
This was my first HB guitar and after nearly four years this is still one of my favourite guitars to play! Apart from giving this a slight fret re-dress and a good setup I've not changed a thing. Hardware is good enough and I love the sound of the pickups.
Wow. I want to get another!
I bought this guitar based on a youtube review of another HB. All-in, including tax & shipping, it cost under 300 US dollars. It looks GREAT, finish GREAT, sound really really GREAT. I did need to do minor setups, but any guitar will need that. Now I want to get an anniversary Firemist ST model.
Bang for the buck
You won't find much better in this price range. Beautiful guitar, beautiful color, it's pleasant to just look at it.
Sounds awesome and feels awesome.
Had one for 2 years. Still love it. Sold a famous brand guitar and kept this one.
Ridiculously good guitar for the money.
Those Roswell pickups are mighty.
It's a better guitar than the one I sold for more than 4x what this cost.
From the front room to Glastonbury Festival, this guitar does it!
I am thoroughly digging this guitar. Out of the box it played well and sounded great, but the neck was dry and the action wasn't quite to my liking. So a lem oil, string change and action tweak later and it oozes character. The pups have the twang and growl when I need it and it plays so well. So much so that I took it to this year's Glastonbury festival for a couple of sets I had to play and it delivered in spades. Not just in playability and sound, but also in looks - a chap in the audience came up and asked what guitar it was that I was playing.
The tuning was rock solid, the sound was brilliant and the balance and playability were perfect.
For what was procured as a cheap backup, this guitar shed that moniker, stepped into the limelight and smashed it.
I think the best review of anything is that "if something untoward happened to it, would you get another?" and in this case the answer is an unequivocal yes.
Just a great guitar
I'm just a novice guitarist who's just getting back into playing again after a couple of years off. I bought the Olympic White model as I'd returned a friend's spare guitar that I'd borrowed. I'd looked at quite a few £200 guitars and the JA-60 had lots of good reviews so I though that I'd give it a try, especially as there was a 30 day money back guarantee. I needn't have worried, the quality of it is just great and it's really comfortable to play. Just a great guitar for less than £150.
Really, really nice !! Buy it !
I now own 5 Harley Benton guitar's. And I have to say they are all great !! They all played and sounded great right out of the box. Some of them required very slight tweaking, but for the price, I don't think they can be beat. They are certainly better quality than the fender squire's. And they cost less. I do not need multiple guitar's, but I might buy more just because the price is great and they are that good. I own the ST-62BK Hotrod, the SC-550II PAF, the HB-35 Plus, the TE-62DB LPB, and the HB-JA60 OW. My wife thinks I am crazy but who cares ?
I love this guitar stock, I did change the 250k pot for a 1meg to sound more like a jazz master. Either way sound is great, easy to play.
This guitar is impressive!
When I ordered it I thought I would try it out but my hopes were not high.
After receiving it and playing it I was so impressed that for such a small amount could get such a quality guitar as this. The notes sparkle when you play it. The neck plays fast and the sound is crisp.
If you are thinking of buying it I would highly recommend.
plays like lt looks
Out the box and in your hands you will be surprised how fantastic this guitar is for the money, looks and play's like a Jazz
Early 60's tone and feell
Got the JA-60 Olympic White. Love the matching headstock. It's not as vintage looking as in the photos, sort of plain white, but I like it better anyways. Sharp frets! Tuners seem good. Pickups are a little noisy, but still sounds great.
UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Hands down the best jazzmaster style in this price range, I just can't believe the quality of the guitar and how amazing it sounds considering how much it costs. Jazzmasters are my favorite and I have quite a few in my collection, from vintage to budget, and this one is one of my favorite.
What an Awesome guitar!
This is an awesome guitar as long as you understand what it is. This is not a Jazzmaster, but an offset with P-90's. I also have a Classic Vibe Tele, a Fender Player Series Duo-Sonic, and a HB ST-62, and this is by far my favorite guitar. It is an amazing value, and the p-90's are fantastic. I also love the vintage look. I do not know why there are not more reviews of this guitar because it is fantastic.
Shockingly awesome
I bought this as a bit of a “whatever” thing. It’s now my favorite Harley Benton. The action and intonation arrived flawless. The fretboard was in dire need of lemon oil, but that’s not a big deal. The pickups sound fabulous.
Great guitar
I was looking to add Jazzmaster style guitar to my collection, went with this one and was not dissapointed. The main thing is sound, these pickups are somewhere in the middle between P90 and SC, cleans and a bit dirty sounds are very good. The pickups are "reverse-wound, reverse-polarity", so no hum in middle position on high gain settings. Craftmanship is fine, the guitar smells like a jar of paint, for some reason, but apart from that all is fine.
