Simply Amazing!

I would not change anything on this bass. It has super-clean sound, plenty of highs and lows. It is not muddy sounding at all. The look is gorgeous. I'm running it through Bias FX 2 and the variety of sounds I get is amazing! Love it.

Awsome starting bass

Fist off all its an a amazing bass guitar for this price, body is solid, neck is narrow and really comfortable at least in my hands, pots are tight and intuitive to use, you can make some really nice sound playing with the pots , finish is as close to perfect as it gets in this price range. Strings on mine were brand new but I think that depends on your luck.

The bad part on mine was the frets and the nut. Frets are sharp on top and bottom side of the neck and mine had close to 30 dead spots with noticeable buzz (setup solved some of them but there are some left that requires fret leveling), the nut was not mounted properly so D and G strings were hitting the neck at the top while playing.

All and all I am satisfied for this amount of money,

hbz-2004 harley benton

i bought what was advertised as a brand new new instrument. well there is a big dent on the bottom edge by the tone controls.the strings are very old no tone at all .the bass has not been set up ,i think it has just been left in its cardboard box for years until an idiot like me buys it

Good for the money

As a guitar player mainly, I wanted to have a bass just in case. So I wanted a affordable bass. This bass fits the bill very well, and is very pretty as well. It plays very well, and sounds good. The pickups are active which can be annoying if you run out of batteries, but they seem to last a long time.

The only issue I have are the pots for volume and tone, they are pretty 'loose' on mine. This may be just my bass, and they work fine. But they feel cheap and not very sturdy.

Awesome bass for beginners or people who need a cheap bass, get this if you dont mind active pickups

Great bass for a great price

Summary: Pros = Pretty much everything. Cons = Wooden body could be sturdier.

I bought this bass a month ago and I definitely do not regret my

purchase. The bass is almost perfect in all aspects and the only thing I can complain about is the wooden body. The wood doesn't seem to be very sturdy, and though this really isn't a big issue, it is worth mentioning. The bass is very light and easy to carry around. The sound is great, and for a cheap price like this, I can not recommend it enough!

Sounds good

The machine sounds dood and is really playable. Good tone variation and layout of controls. the lacquer finish feels imperfect though and could be better.

Best Purchase Money Can Buy

I was searching for a J-bass, or something that sounds comprehensively like a J-bass. When I heard the sample audio, saw the price and the design, there was no way I wasn't buying this product.

Right out of the box, I noticed the quality of finish, which I could never complain about, considering the cost was less than 300. It comes with allen keys for any adjustments you might want to make, but the action was pretty much perfect for me right out of the box.

The sound is phenomenal. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I am not a fan of most P-bass sounds, as I find them a little too overbearing sometimes. In my taste, this bass is on the perfectly balanced side of woody and percussive.

Overall, it is a great product, and I fully recommend it to beginner to intermediate players.

Exceptional value for money

Long time guitar player here, so I decided to pick up a relatively cheap bass for some recording.

I have had it for a year now and I love it. It looks and feels great (the neck-thru construction is amazing) and the sound, while not amazing, pretty good. The active EQ gives good control over tone shaping. It's comfortable to play, and well balanced with a strap when standing.

It did require a some set-up when I got it, which is to be expected. The action was very low and I was getting a lot of fret buzz, but some adjustments to the truss rod and a day or two to settle down sorted it out. After a year of regular playing, it's in great shape and I have not had any issues.

For ¤249, you really can't go wrong with this bass.

Great for the Price!

When the Bass arrived the first thing i noticed was how beautiful it was. It feels solid, well build and the wood used is very beautiful.

The sound, for a Bass in this price range, is really nice. I feel like the setup of the bass isn't quite there, but that's something easy to fix.

Bottom line: i am very happy with this bass. It sounds good, it looks amazing and the price is really sweet!

I was very surprised by the quality of the sound coming from this bass. Being a very cheap one, I wasn't expecting much, but both the in-build EQ as well as the pickups sound great.

The mahogany body gives it an amazingly warm sound and even the factory strings sound great.

The only thing I had to replace was the nut, because the strings were sitting too low and I was getting too much fret buzz in the lower region of the fretboard.

Definitely recommended for beginners or guitarists who wanna try a little bit of bass, without investing too much into it.

The bass is also surprisingly light and I still use it from time to time during practice, simply because I love the warm sound that it has.

Great tone and flexibility E-bass

After going through many standard basses under 500 bucks I finally found the one bass that provides me with the tone and flexibility I need to play in different genres of music for excellent price. The setup right out of the box was perfect. I changed the strings from round wound to TI flat wound strings and the neck did not need an adjustment. I will have this bass for long time. Great!!!

Great bass!

Bought this Harley Benton as my second bass few weeks ago and its just everything I wanted in a bass. Its gorgeous look, how it plays, how it sounds. Being from Iceland I could never have gotten anything in a close category for what I paid for it. Now Im just browsing for the next Harley Benton bass to buy :)

Excellent bass for the money.

I just wanted to try an active bass before spending big money on something mid range or high end so I thought I'd try the HBZ. Man what an eye opener. Right out of the box the quality was obvious. Decent weight and nice to play. Looks lovely with an excellent finish. Better than what I've seen on some name brands. Sounds great too with a nice punchy tone. Doesn't eat batteries either. I don't need to buy another active bass now, this one will do me for years to come.

Slightly dissapointing

After reading all these rad reviews I was really expecting something good from this bass. Sadly, it is not as good as expected.

The guitar itself is beautiful of course, but the craftmanship is poor - the nuts and bolts were drilled in crookedly, making it hard to take them out and generally making it look a bit sloppy. It already came with string buzz which did not go away after adjusting the truss rod.

Also a major problem is that the first and third string emitted a slight pop in the amp when you let go of them, which is very noticeable when playing on low volume and very annoying. Tried with different amps - it's the guitar's problem.

After about 9 months of playing a 10cm long crack appeared in the body where the battery is located. Note - the guitar was never dropped and never hit any hard objects.

The tone control is pretty good, lots of different tones can be found after tinkering with the knobs.

Overall it's a good guitar for learning the bass, but if you were planning to keep your first bass and use it for more than just learning i'd recommend to save a hundred or more euros and just buy a Fender.

Great bass for a great price

I was looking for a bass to complement my studio setup.

What got me into buying this one was the combination of its low price and yet great design. What can I say, it looks even better than on the pictures. The body looks very natural and due to the matte finish you won't see any fingerprints or stains on it.

The bass is very easy to play, in fact it is the most smooth bass I've ever played concerning string height and fret size. The movement of the controls is just right and they even lock in in neutral position.

This is definitely an instrument not only beginners might consider buying. Just ignore the Harley Benton logo and you'll be surprised how well this bass sounds, looks and feels.

A beautiful bass.

I bought this as a present for my other half. She's a classically trained cellist and I'm a guitarist, but her secret passion is the bass guitar. She sometimes tinkles on my Crafter bass which I use for recording, so I bought one of these for her birthday last year based on the reviews.

What can I say. It's beautiful! Really. Neck-through body, fantastic craftsmanship (on the copy that I got anyway), straight neck, good setup right out of the box - action and intonation - and even came strung with D'Addarios and it was in tune!

You really can't get a better bass for your money at this price - even from just a features point of view, but the fact that it's such a beautiful looking guitar too is a real bonus.

Really impressed.

A lot of bass for your money!

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this bass. I needed a new bass and it seemed the best bang for the buck. Plays easily, sounds good and very versatile controls. Looks really nice too. Without a doubt there is better basses out there, but I don't think you can beat it for the price. You'll have to pay several times the price to find something better. I think you'll even have a hard time finding a better bass for this price if you buy second hand stuff. I'm impressed!

Only thing I miss is the possibility to go passive in case you have no battery-power. This should not be a problem for me, but it would have been really nice to have that possibility. This is really a minor thing though.

Looks beautiful?

?and sounds great, too. Managed to fool a couple of people into thinking this was a 1000-pound bass. The wood is suprisingly high quality, the pickups aren't that great but I swapped them out for some Bare Knuckles and it has a great tone. Definitely recommend this to anyone.

Buy this bass!

Being a beginner bassist, I was on the prowl for my first 'professional' bass guitar, and when I first saw this I was amazed at the design, and at that price it seemed almost too good to be true. Once it arrived, I was impressed with the sleek body and thin neck, with some quality strings with it... There was only problem.

Yes, there is one thing, the electronics cover plate is badly fitted. Although this was a disappointment, especially given that it passed a QA inspection, I did not think it merited sending it back, as I can fix it myself.

The wood finish is as good as it looks in the pictures - solid but light, well balanced, a joy to play, genuinley impressive, great handling and playability with a thin fast neck... Everything about it oozes quality, and at this price, it is a steal!
