Good value for the money..., BUT....
The good things first...shipping was fast and ok, the setup was good right out of the box, BUT this bass is very badly balanced, very headstock heavy, and that makes it kind of uncomfortable to play... when the headstock dips
Very good bass at this price!!
I use this bass for gigs, rehearsals, the odd jam and I have to tell you, this is easily one of the best basses Iâve ever owned
Bang for buck
At this price. fantastic ! comes well setup out of the box. Dont hesitate. Using this to lay down bass on some demo recordings . Happy with the results.
Cool looking bass
This is a extreamly good bass. Pros Building quality is great it sounds really good and very enjoyable to play. Already very usefull in my mixes. Cons A piece of paint at the bottom under the belt fastening has fallen off. this most likely happened during delivery because the protective foam fell off at the bottom of the box. Tolerable, but still spoils the bass experience a little
Great bass for a guitar player
I mainly play guitar and I purchased this bass to noodle around. I had no big expectations towards this bass, jut to keep tuning and give an acceptable signal, both were met. The tuners had some manufaczuring flaws, on some spots the nickel coating was missing, exposing the copper layer below. To counter this the neck has thin, deep flame pattern which is completely missing from the photographs. I am satisfied with my purchase and can recommend this bass as a first or cheap bass guitar!
I'm amazed by the quality
This bass is fantastic quality. Stays in tune very well even after days of heavy slapping, the sound has nothing to envy to much more expensive basses and if the headstock is masked it can fool many fender jazz bass purists. The only thing I don't like is a neck dive that happens when I'm sitting, and it's slightly on the heavy side. I can however play standing and it's stay well balanced. I would really recommend it to anyone who wants a JB.
Bang for the buck
Needed a bass for home recording. This had a very tempting price and surpricingly good review. Even if it was only half decent the price would make it a bargain. It looks great, played real good out of the box, and sounded like a jazz bass should. Buy it for all your budget bass needs. Wouldn’t hesitate to take it to stage either if I were a bassist.
Acoustic Bass
And yes, I was not mistaken. This bass sounds great off the hook, and it's great. With the connection, it sounds perfect in its valuable new contingent. I am very grateful to HB, because the bass was already tuned. The only thing that happened was that the ends of the frets came out, but this is from a flight to my distant country, and the problem is a trifle for such money.
Working Manâs Bass
I purchased this instruments based on reviews and out of pure curiosity, as times are hard for most people, not everyone can afford an instrument. I own and play instruments from custom boutique to the old made in USA big names as well as vintage. I’m also a hobbyist handmade guitar builder.
Now, the 62cc J style bass
The most important part of an instrument is in the way it feels in the hands while we play. This bass did not disappoint in quality and craftsmanship. Let’s forget about the cost of this instrument for one moment. The use of roasted maple, silky smooth satin finish, appears that it has a dual access truss rod as well the poplar body is well done, no finishing issues, neck is properly seated in the very tight and solid neck pocket make this a very fine, workable instrument for any situation.
Like mentioned in other reviews, you will need to put some « elbow grease » to bring this instrument to it’s maximum potential ie: I have gone over the fingerboard edges, rounding it off into a nice « broken in » like I do on my instruments then dressed the fret ends ( some tools and know how required !!) To my amazement the nut was cut « bang on!! » all that needs to be done is to smoothen the sharpness of the nut, the entire fret board on my instrument arrived with zero inconsistencies with regards to the levelling.
After a nice set up, this instrument is as enjoyable to play as any other instrument in my collection. It does not exhibit the feel of a entry level instrument.
The pickups, hardware and electronics all do their job very well. I have never been one to change or experiment with the constant pickup change of pickups in an instrument, at the end of the day, you’ll always sound as good as you play, as long as the pickups do their job and are not microphonic, pickup type is a whole other discussion.
PS: I can dial in and make this sound like I want … Go HB!!!
Fantastic value, quality jazz bass for beginners
I’m a 48 year old beginner, been playing bass a couple of years now but only started having regular lessons about 6 months ago and wish I’d started 30 years ago. Until now been playing man Ibanez GSR200 but recently started more funk bass lines and so looked to get a Jazz bass but didn’t want to pay too much. Bought this bass on the spur of the moment and must admit I’m blown away by it. Build quality seems solid and it sounded great straight out of the box so I took it to my lesson a few hours after unboxing, expecting my tutor to dismiss it, but he could not believe how good it sounded “almost indistinguishable from something closer to £1000”. He did lower the top pickup a little to stop it catching the E-string, but other than that he said it was great. Even better, I found it much easier to play some of the slap and pops I had been struggling with, so it gave me confidence. Only had it less than a week, but so far I’m a very impressed and happy customer
