Harley Benton SC-1000 WH Progressive Line Reviews
Good but could be so much better.
Slightly disappointed as it is not as good as my Harley Benton Fretless Bass in terms of build quality. The finish is off in several areas and the fretboard required lots of oil to bring it back to life. The tuners are also a bit of a weak link as there is a lot of play in them before hitting the sweet spot. However despite this for the money its is exceptionally good value, and would compare well with other brands at twice the price.
Above all expectations
I initially intended to use this guitar as substitude for my epiphone SG but soon i realised it could well be a consious first choice.Really good hardware related to value for money ratio.Hope the price stays stable though.
When i oppened the box my jaw dropped, its so beautiful and has an awesome sound too, perfect for the price.
Amazing guitar for the money
I got this guitar just for the sake of having a back up for my back up LTD (i know...) and it came out to be great for the money i spent. The neck has a Les Paul Custom feel to it, it is quite chunky but it feels good. The sound is very well balanced and it stays in tune well. The only negative were a few cosmetic issues which for the price are a non factor.
All in all, the guitar is solid, and i highly recommend it for anyone who wants to start playing guitar and do not think that it is not as good as more expensive brands just because it says "Harley Benton" on the headstock.
Amazing.
Packaging, perfect, contents, more than perfect. Set up great, sound, great, look, great.
As with all new guitars, the fret board was a bit dry. A rub over with Lemon oil and a clean and all is good. Although there is still dirt on the board which will rub off over time.
The sound clean is simply stunning. With my choice of overdrive/distortion it roars. The volume pot is a little stiff but that will work in over time. The second volume pot is perfect as is the tone pot. Tuners, excellent and over all the guitar is just a joy to play.
A bit heavier than expected but it is a good solid guitar and the weight makes it just sit perfectly.
If you want a great guitar with active pickups that really hits the mark, ticks all the boxes and is just a joy to play, look no further. For the price, it is worth more than it's weight in gold.
I like the sound of the active pickups
I like this guitar so much I also bought the Black model, just in case something happened to one of them. At these prices I had to take advantage.
The pickups are not quite EMG standard but I like the sound so that's all that mattered.
Extremely good the price.
I just got this guitar a few days ago. It was a little off at first. But after a little set up it Sounds and feels great. Three electronics are set up right as Well. And it stays in tune. The only problem odds the binding has some dull spots in it. Buy for the price it doesn't Master. This guitar is awesome. Way better than my others.
Great guitar for the price
First off let me start by saying you are not going to get a guitar that is completely perfect aesthetically at this price point e.g details in regards to binding and general flaws in paint around the set neck.
With this out the way, this guitar is phenomenal for the price, you get a solid mahogany body with a set neck and active pickups for under £130 which is ridiculous in itself.
I will say the hardware is horrendously bad, the tuners are imprecise and don't hold tuning well, the bridge and tailpiece posts are not completely in the archtop body. However if you bear this in mind, you can buy some cheap locking tuners and a Korean made bridge which will work fine. I spent £50 on these upgrades and now it holds tuning brilliantly. I also had a problem with the neck volume pot, it just doesn't work. I haven't fixed it and I don't intend to because I don't need volume controls. 3 of the frets are slightly too high but if you play with heavy distortion minor fret buzz is not a problem.
On the positive side, it sounds amazing for metal and hard rock. It sustains incredibly well. Its solid mahogany as far as I can gather from the weight. The action is incredibly low too.
I would not hesitate to recommend this guitar to any player of any level provided that you can change a bridge and tuners which require a screwdriver and nutdriver. Its amazing for the price so you can't really go too far wrong. It is a great looming and more importantly an amazing sounding guitar
