Harley Benton SC-1000 WH Progressive Line Reviews
Great guitar
Lovely guitar. Solid, sexy as hell, crazy good price.
Plays and have not had to change anything.
Someday I may tweak a few things but its great right out of the box. Very happy!
Great price/performance!
for beginner and intermediate level.. active pickups literally roar. Good job HB!
Great bang for the buck.
I bought this on sale, I liked the finish, the sound and it arrived fast, the only imperfections I noticed was the binding at the end of the neck is coming off (I'll use some glue) and I had to do a proper setup so the guitar could be playable, but overall very good.
For this price, unbeatable. However needs better strings and some setup
, out of the box not super impressed. After some fine tuning on setup However works like a charm. Very high output pickups, great for metal.
Found my daily/gig guitar
I was a bit worried that I would get a low-quality guitar because of how cheap this guitar is but I was wrong. The guitar arrived in great shape, with no sharp edge frets, the neck is straight and the paint job is immaculate. Plugged it into my amp and everything worked. Changed strings and polished the frets and man this guitar is great. I've been using it daily and as my gig guitar.
Great guitar
Great guitat for metal. Feels great
Fat neck
No complaints other than I want the custom 11 now
Decent second guitar. Some set backs.
This is the 2nd guitar I’ve gotten from Harley Benton. The first one was a Ex-73 explorer. That guitar plays great. This one came looking great. But once I plugged it in I noticed some electrical issues. The volume knobs didn’t work correctly. The neck pickup volume switch will turn on and off whether it’s fully down or fully up. It has to sit somewhere in the middle. The pickup selector is finicky that if you bump it along with messing with the volume knobs, the output drops and you sound like you have vintage pick ups with low output. Gotta get lucky messing with the selector and volume knobs to get full power back. Pickups also pick up a lot of outside noise. Along with some radio stations if you’re into that.
Great guitar to upgrade!
Absolutely love how this guitar arrived and plays. It compares with some of my $500 guitars so it's the best deal for your money. My only problem was that it had a issue with the grounding not being done properly so the pickups were extremely noisy. I know this is a pretty common problem for HB so just be prepared to possibly put some work into it. That being said I Absolutely love HB and will be purchasing more soon!
Skip Gibson or ESP
If you watch most youtube videos on Gibson guitars, they are full of disappointment and plenty of issues with QA. This guitar has been an absolute joy to play and was set up right outa the box.
Very good for the price
I've been playing since 2014 with this guitar and had no issues and is has a good sustain.
It sound very good with its original pickups and its very worth it for its price.
The only "negative" would be that the neck feels more "flexible" than other guitars I have tried but that's not actually a problem, its more like a characteristic as it helps with the sustain.
VERY Surprising
I bought this guitar with no expectations. I was looking for an inexspensive moderately well built guitar for my students. What I received was an inexpesive VERY well built, aesthetically pleasing guitar. Made from all of the same materials as my high dollar guitars (Gibson/Wylde Audio/Jackson etc...). The EMG style pickups are a little noisy but sound okay otherwise. This is an excellent "first guitar" for beginners. They will look forward to practice instead of letting it sit in the corner collecting dust. For the advanced/expert guitarists this is a nice guitar to take along without worrying about wear and tear on your Gibson's or Epiphone's. I was happy with the small amount of setup out of the box.
You will not be dissapointed!
I bought this guitar nearly 4 years ago and it has since been used on countless recordings. It sounds fantastic, and it has a good bit of weight to it which I love because it helps everything sound thicker even in higher tunings. Absolutely love this guitar!
Stunning Guitar for the price
First off I make guitars, and let me say, I don’t know how they make this guitar for the price. Please consider it’s mahogany body, active pickups, 24 frets and a set neck, and for all those people who have sent in negative reviews, think again, it does stay in tune, and for an active guitar, the sound cleans up very well. the finish is spot on, well does have a couple of the smallest marks, absolutely nothing to write home about. The only negative thing is, the frets do need a bit of a polish, but that’s a small fix. Replace the nut if you want, as it is poor, but it sustains for days in its current state.
This is a amazing guitar for the price, but if you feel the need to spend an extra £300 on a ESP guitar or LTD go a ahead, but will you really hear the difference?
Decent
In general I am quite happy with this guitar, it looks great and feels like a more expensive guitar.
Don't get me wrong, this guitar looks stunning but there are some minor visual flaws (coloring and binding on the edges looks to be a bit rushed). But this is on the sides and places where regular eyes don't seem them; also nothing is visible or looking bad from a step away. I would simply bring this on stage on how it looks.
The pickups and pots need to be changed. While it sounds OK for heavier stuff like metal (and I was surprised), I will be changing the electronics and pickups for proper EMG. There is just too much gain so you would need to dial this down A LOT, it's not possible to get any proper clean sounds from it like some other reviewers have also stated, even with extensive tweaking.
On the positive side, sustain is massive and it will ring out for ages.
Neck feels amazing, action was good from initial setup but there are 1-2 dead notes higher up on the neck. Needs proper setup after receiving and most likely needs some work. But for this price it is expected.
Overall, I would reccommend this if you are looking for a guitar with such looks - for the money you pay it's worth it and the neck is pretty decent. Don't simply expect that this is something that you can play right out of the box, as it most likely needs additional work. Great for a hobby project. Great for it's money, but not perfect and fully playable as is.
Very nice Guitar
Can’t beat the price and it plays great
Sc-1000â¦WOW!
Amazing guitar. The tiniest of cosmetic blemishes and overall absolutely amazing!!!! Smooth frets. Holds tune and plays so good!!
Awesome
After a good setup it’s one of my favorites
Lovely guitar
Bought this after buying one of the 7 string Harley Benton guitars and loving it. Beautiful finish on the guitar and feels great to play. Comfortable with the belly cut and weighty but balanced. Frets were nicely finished and have enjoyed playing it more than some more expensive guitars.
Harley benton sc1000 progressive line
Bought as an alternative to guitars with active pickups for heavy styles of music. The appearance is excellent, simply amazing, there is certainly something to complain about, but given the cost of competitors, both in the market for new guitars and used instruments, there is simply no. The disadvantages include the fact that the guitar comes in an unplayable state, I had to take it to the master to rebuild the neck deflection, the height of the strings and to grind and polish the frets, otherwise top !!!!!!
Overall good guitar
Beautiful finish, beautiful colour and hardware seems great too. Only problem (if you can call it that) is that the pickups are very hot and can easily make your clean tone a bit distorted unless you turn the volume on the guitar down. Overall I think it is fantastic for the price. I love this guitar!
