Harley Benton SC-500 WH Vintage Series Reviews
Excellent for the price!
I've been playing this guitar for more than a year now, and I've gotta say it's excellent for the price! The sound is what I expected for this type of guitar, and I'd say it's a good alternative / option if you're looking for this type of sound and are in a limited budget. Also, the weight is nice! It's not super heavy like other guitars in this type.
I've done a very casual-ish use since I'm a music student and not really going on gigs with it, and from that comes my experience. Also, done some studio work with it, but mostly on DI with virtual amp simulators.
A con I would say could be some elements of the build quality. A tuning machine and the pickup selector came a little loose, and with time I could remove those with ease. However, a setup and adjustment made the trick and now it's perfect!
High quality for low price
I have this guitar since January 2020 (it's late November 2020 as of this writing) and I am satisfied with this instrument.
I wanted to try out a LP style guitar to get a hang of the shape, scale lenght, basically the whole LP configuration, before I buy something more "professional" or idk how to call it.
One thing that is associated with LP style guitars is the weight and to my surprise (yes it is made from linden) I did not expect it to be this lightweight. Good for long gigs, as your back won't fall off, or beginner players.
As for the sound, it's massive, good for rock and blues (and even heavier styles). Pickups are good, there is no issues with grounding etc. Whatever you play can cut good in the mix.
Currently it's my "weapon of choice" for recording guitar. Not replacing my other guitars for good, but just alone for demoing songs before a more 'professional' recording it does great. Pleasantly surprised with the build quality as well. Some minor finishing flaws are present, nothing too bad.
Overall very pleased with the instrument, 9/10 would reccomend.
good quality
i use this guitar for home use playing metal music
this is a great guitar and i would highly recommend
But the pickups on my one were very microphonic but im working to get it sorted
Impressed
like 5 years ago I bought for the same price a budget strato, but the pickups sucked, in fact, the overall manufacturing did. Before buying this HB I read and watched a lot of reviews of similar products before buying it and im impressed!! It sounds good, the manufacturing is good, the action is on point for my taste.
I have never played a les paul, but as far as I read it's heavy, so does this guitar.
The tunners are a bit weird, when tunning, sometimes a tiny movement make big changes and sometimes just nothing.
Great value!!!
What can I say. After reading lots of reviews online I took the plunge and bought this guitar. I have been playing guitar now for 48 years and have had many guitars during that time. I currently have 8 guitars now including a Gibson Les Paul Custom but I can honestly say this HB is my favourite to play. I had pre conceived ideas that I would have to change out the pickups on this but can honestly say the pickups are really good.
Just a couple of very small issues (which won't spoil things for me) The Gold coloured Bridge and Tail piece are slightly different colours and the pickup selector switch wiggles about ( I am going to replace it) The tuning heads are okay and hold tuning but aren't brilliant, something else I may change in the future. BUT, and I say that in capital letters, this a £149 guitar!!!!!!!! Great, great value for the money even with a few very small niggles
Buy one, you won't be disappointed!
10 out of 10
This Guitar is 10 out of 10. Plays like butter, super nice, no flaws, top ten!
Lives up to the hype
I am not an expert guitar player, but I wanted to upgrade my lower quality electric guitar for a decent cost. I believe this is comparable to the $400-$500 USD guitars that I was looking at before I heard about Harley Benton, both in sound and quality. This guitar is incredible for the price. Great finish, no blemishes and I love the clean white look with the gold pickups.. Stays in tune pretty well and had a great sound whether it's a clean tone, high gain, bridge or neck pickup, they all sound great and you can get a lot of tones out of this guitar. The only thing that seems a little cheaper to me is some of the hardware like the toggle switch or knobs, which still get the job done and aren't a big deal. Overall I really like this guitar and I'd recommend it to anyone.
excellent sound, build quality and appearance-at the highest level!
Great buy
Great looking guitar.
Put it in the sun to age and change the Knops and you have a cheap
Randy Rhoads Les Paul copy.
The bridge bolts could mounted deeper into the body.
Other than that it could not find anything wrong with it.
Great buy
I enjoyed telling my buddies all about HB
GREAT SOUNDS and beautiful finish. I am a mega church musician and play to 8-10,000 people in a weekend. The weekend I got the guitar I loved the sound so much I decided to bring it to church, the musicians I play with are all pro level and they were all so complementary of the look but more about the sound of the guitar. It was fun sharing what I paid after guesses in the $5-800 range. I've already purchased another HB JA60 for a recording project because the sound is so authentic. Great value guitar!
Cons: The tuners need to be upgraded at some point but the instrument stays in tune,
Great Budget Guitar
I ordered the HB as a backup for my live shows and I wasn't disappointed. The quality and sound shone through straightaway and it quickly became my main instrument of the night.
Pros: Great solid guitar, it feels great quality. The pickups are fantastic and cut through every time.
Cons: Machine heads required tightening on arrival and some areas of detail when applying the lacquer and graphics to the body.
I would recommend this guitar to anybody looking for a cheap budget guitar that won't break the bank.
Very nicely done.
Pros : Still can't believe the price.
Cons: Minor blemish on edge of pick guard.
Good for it money
(sorry for English)
I buy this guitar to play some heavy things like stoner, doom, etc but it is good not only for this. Clean sound not bright, it is warm (because it is Les Paul). But for me Les Paul is not very comfortable. Neck is good (except frets) like Epiphone LP.
Pros:
- It is Les Paul!
- Humbuckers don't make noise*
- Looks very cool**
- IMHO it weight not very much
- Tunes very well from store
Cons:
- It is Les Paul!
- *but have microphone effect
- **but have some small bad moments on painting
- Fretwork could be better
In general: it is white LP for less than 140 EUR. Not best, not worst. It ok. Can I recommend it? Yes.
Great guitar
This is a damn fine guitar. Better than it should be for the price. The pickups could be a little better but I'm not complaining.
Exactly as advertised.
Very happy with this purchase!
Amazin cheap guitar
For its money:
Sound very good, has all standard features , but needs a little better work at the frets. All other things are amazing for this price point.
This guitar is a beauty, and amazing for a beginner who wants something that looks different than a black strat... It has personality.
Very good quality and sound
Impressive quality
Hi! First of all I must say I play guitar at home. I own a HB CST-24 which I'm so happy with but I wanted to try and switch to a Les Paul model, and what better than trying another HB guitar?
The guitar looks really pretty. The finishes are good enough (you can see some imperfections in the binding but nothing important).
In terms of sound, I think a pickup swap would be great to have a better experience but it sounds really good and it is powerful enough for home. I use a Blackstar Id:core 20 watt amp and the mix guitar-amp sounds great. It stays in tune without any problem. I think HB make a really with work with the tuners of their guitars because my CST-24 never gets out of tune and the same happens with this one.
An advice, please, please, please change the strings as soon as you receive your guitar. I played with them and it is not a good experience, changed them by new ones and everything went really smoother.
Not so much to add. It is a really good guitar as starting (and continuing) point because it is beautiful, solid and sounds good even if it is not made of basswood. It worth every euro it costs.
Pros:
Beautiful.
Solid.
Good sound.
It keeps in tuning.
Cheap.
Cons:
Strings by default are crappy.
Enjoy that pretty and cheap great guitar!
amazing guitar
I love this guitar, the only thing wrong was some cracking around the binding. I can live with that. I love the look the tone the feel....there is nothing I dont enjoy about it.
A great guitar for the money
Wow, I'm so glad I bought this guitar. For the money, it's a great instrument. Fretwork is great, I didn't notice anything wrong with the paint and it stays in tune decently enough.
The side dots seem to be covered by a bit too much clear coat, making them a little blurry but still very visible so not really a problem. The pickups are kinda weak, but that's just personal preference.
All in all, it's a great guitar at a low price. Also, it got here pretty quick! I live in Ga. in the US and it only took a little over a week to arrive. I'm VERY happy with it!
