Harley Benton ST-62CC MN Dakota Red 3-stars Reviews
Good Strat-a-like for the money
It's impossible to review a Harley Benton guitar with reflecting on the price. I've owned many ST style guitars over the last few years, and there is no comparison for the price.
In absolute terms you are not getting the same build quality, tones or performance as you would from the big player on which this is based. But you might pay 4-10 times the price for an entry into that world.
I'm not a modder or guitar tech, but if I was, I would probably change the tuners (they're only ok) and the string trees, possibly the nut. But for me, a home player, with no pressure or expectation, these are things that can wait.
So, bearing that in mind, and never forgetting the cost and 3 year warranty you really can't go wrong.
Minor niggle-the frets protrude slightly and need to be filed. The pickups are very prone to buzz/hiss so I would say the cavities need shielding. The buzz stops when you are touching the strings so it seems likely to be a shielding thing. It's manageable with one of my amps, but quite bad with the other.
