Harley Benton ST-Mini BK 5-stars Reviews
Grandkid Guitar
After getting the twin 7 year old Grandkids a 3/4 acoustic I decided to buy them a drum set (boy) and this mini-strat for the girl.
I was quite impressed with this 3/4 electric. After a bit of set up and fresh strings it played very well. This actually be a good travel Guitar.
Well done Harley Benton!
Mini strat (black)
I also have a mini squire strat which is around $170 to $200.
This Harley Benton feels more solid to me and better tuners at a fraction of the price.
The fret ends are even better.
Im impressed 100 percent .
Solid little guitar that sounds like a strat . Two thumbs up .
I bought this guitar for my 7 year old son. Its a bit on the heavy side for a kid that age but the quality of the sound and overall instrument is great. As with all my guitars regardless of brand I do recommend getting it set up properly. I would definitely recomend if you´re looking for a small scale guitar for travel or for kids.
Absolute bargain
I bought this guitar to turn into a Duo-Sonic kind of thing. It was great out of the box - nice scale length, fine pickups and through-body stringing! (Toploading is also an option.) Incredible value really.
I've rewired it without the middle pickup and with out-of-phase on the selector switch; I play it as often as much more expensive guitars.
Strongly recommend even in stock form - a great travel/sofa/desk guitar, with a very playable scale length (the same as the shorter OG Duo-Sonics etc), but even shorter overall length.
Bought for 9yr Old
Great little 3/4 starter guitar - Son loves it. Stays in tune and plays great. What else can I say?
Its cheap but it is good
I bought this guitar for my 8 year old daughter.
The quality was surprisingly good, better than expected. The fretboard color is kind of purple, not dark brown as on the pictures - but my daughter likes it very much, so I have no problem with it. It was also quite dry, but some lemon oil helped.
After a basic setup and fine tuning - intonation, lowering the sting height, lubing the nut - It played quite nicely. The tuners are cheap, but they work. I changed two things: the string trees to GraphTech, and the strings.
So with a little work, it can be a realy great little guitar
It sounds quite good, the neck feels nice. Had no big problems with the frets - they seem to be leveled. The fret ends are not bad either (better then on a Squire Mini I tried before), but they will need some work, and polishing the frets will
Excellent - VFM
Excellent choice for its price. Nice sound quality.
Great value for money!
I got this for my 6 year old son to learn how to play.
I don't remember having such a good guitar for less than 200€ when I was young.
He is having a lot of fun with it and it is light enough to wear with a strap.
Easily playable out of the box, even better with a simple setup (lowered the string height and adjusted intontation).
Notes ring out nicely with a light touch which is great for a young kid.
For such a price it is perfect!! I relly wonder how they do it for the price point!!
If this was at 200€ I would rate it as follows:
PROS:
- Great feeling satin neck.
- Frets seem nicely leveled, notes do not fret out even with long bends (which are very easy on the short scale). This is with lowered action...
- Pickups have enough power, pots have a nice feel to them.
CONS:
- A little overspray from the clearcoat on the top of the headtock, easily removed with buffing compound.
- Fret ends could use some more sanding to feel smoother to the touch. Especially since this is for childern. I will probably do this myself at the next string change.
- Tuners have some play in their feel, but hold tunning nicely.
Best value in its class.
Used for practice at home this is actually a better value option than my squier mini that its replacing. It has the output socket at the bottom like the new sq mini, a vast improvement over the awkward front mount chrome one. The quality of fit and finish is hard to fault and the instrument was set up and playable in no time. Sound seems to be better than the Sq mini but cant tell iff its the pups or the solid poplar body that makes the difference but it sounds great with oodles of sustain.
Another endearing feature is the option of string through or hard tail stringing, not available on the V2 Sq mini. The fretboard appears flatter than my old Sq which actually seems to make it simpler to play.
At around half the cost of a Sq mini V2 this little cracker is a no brainer.
Cant commend it highly enough. Buy one ;-)
Seems like a decent first guitar
I bought this for a 7 year old's birthday present, in a bundle with amp, strap, lead and gig bag. One volume knob, one tone knob, five way selector switch.
I expect I will make a few small adjustments to the action and intonation, but it is playable out-of-the-box. The tuners all work smoothly. I didn't notice any sharp fret ends, and everything seems to be straight. It sounds pleasingly strat-like to me. I can't fault it, especially at this price.
great little guitar
quality of this guitar is amazing for the price ,it arrived well set up with a nice low action and is very easy to play i love it.
