Harley Benton StompControl-4 ISO 5-stars Reviews
Works great!
I have seen and tried other (much more expensive) stomp controllers that do less than this little beauty. If you only use a few pedals like me, then itâs ideal. However, you can get a wide variety of sounds from just four pedals. For example if you want to stack your drive pedals and add a boost for solos, itâs great. Moreover, it also powers all four pedals plus your tuner-amazing!
Best investment ever
I was skeptical about the price of this product, but I'm positively surprised by how well it works.
Sturdy and reliable
Has worked flawlessly for more than a year now. Super easy to set up and even modify on the fly. Great value for a basic way to switch between different loops. I use it with a kind of 4-cable method to send several preamps into my main amp's effects loop, with the preamp of that amp also being a loop. This way I can switch between various preamps (KSR Ceres, AMT, etc) all being sent to the same Marshall Silver Jubilee power section.
I wish there was an option to add a channel switch for an amp but I can't fault this unit as it is a cheaper, simpler version of the other one that has more loops and channel switching.
Being able to use it to power the pedals is also a big plus.
The only slight negative is that the footswitches are a bit loud and stiff. But otherwise, a great product with great value.
A new world to explore
If you are you are using a limited amount of sounds ,but in one tap you want to activate, lets say reverb-delay and a booster ,this is what you are looking for. You can combine 2-3 pedals to activate it at once, so to have the other 3 slots for other pedals, but its getting a little complicated. So for 1-2 distortion/od pedals and a blend for your soloing is perfect. If you looking for more look up for the fxl8
Love it for what it is, features could be better
It is nice having presets and being able to select multiple pedals with one switch. I would prefer if there was a mode where each switch was assigned to a pedal and not a loop, so I could stack pedals how I want rather than having to have pre-set up loops.
Fully satisfied
One of the best switchers that I’ve seen… great quality easy too use… my advice take it
For the tap-dance aficionado
This is a perfect, reasonably priced, entry-level switcher that does the basics like a champ. Can't really attest to the build quality as I have been using it only for a couple of months on rehearsals, but it can handle my 100kg 47 size foot stomp quite well. It's really easy to set up and even change if needed on the fly. DOn't expect it to be a spaceship, it's just a good switcher that will cover all your basic needs.
Very good and quality product
Very good and quality product. I use it with my guitar amp, perfect quality!
Robust 4 a hard life
Once you master this piece of kit - you'll wonder how you ever managed without it - Apart from supplying power to your board and switching between pedals - it actually replaces the functions of dedicated foot controllers [ is that obvious ? ] I have a few complicated foot controllers
Anyway it simplifies the whole board operation and is robust enough to survive life on the road
Nice and simple
Really nice switcher that will serve as a power supply to. Simple to use. Well built.
Just one negative
I think evryone else has covered the main good points of this little loop switcher. And, it is good. Obviously it would be nice to have more power outs and an extra loop, but my 'negative' issue is this: Whilst using the unit at home I never really noticed this issue, but live... It caught me out. Twice! When the unit is in tuner mode and silent, it de-selects your existing loop. When you come out of tuner mode your all of a sudden in by-pass, but it isn't true by-pass. you then have to step on the switch of the loop you want... that then puts that loop into by-pass... Then you have to step on the switch again to select it! Pain in the bum!
If you know this is going to happen however, you can re-select your loop whist in tuner mode. Then, when you exit the tuner you're ready to play in your chosen loop. I hope I've explained this well and I don't know if it's only my unit that does this. Maybe reviewer's in other languages have mentioned it? Once you know it has this odd quirk it's not a massive problem, but it was embarresing live when you start a heavily guitar affected tone (meant to be delay, chorus, overdrive) squeeky clean. It turned a few heads in the venue. We laughed later... Much later.
Absolutely amazing
Bought this unit some months ago as I got tired of pressing buttons like a lunatic to switch off/on several effects within a song. I only use one bank, as that is enough for me. I haven't had any issues with the unit so far, after having it for +6 months.
Pros: signal sounds much cleaner. Easy to use. Reliable power supply. Sturdy unit overall.
Cons: AC adapter needs to be treated with care. A bit of "pop" sounds if you use true-bypass pedals, as expected, when you switch between patches. At first they are a bit noticeable, but then it gets very quiet. At the beggining this was melting my head, but now I'm very happy with the unit.
100% recommended
Fantastica-amazing
I wasn't completely sure about this loop switcher but after few days spent to test it I can confirm that it is a very good. Easy to program, well made and solid. So I am totally happy because it is very good and the price is amazing ( cheap ). Thanks Harley Benton
Un prodotto valido ben fatto e veramente facile da usare. Unico neo sono i switcher vicini e un po duri ma e' veramente una piccola cosa in confronto alla sua versatilità. Grazie Harley Benton per darci la possibilità di risparmiare.
Great device that reduces stomping :)
Excellent quality, sturdy built, good price! It reduced considerably my stomping, but I may soon need to upgrade to its big brother for more loops!
Very robust control
Very versatil control. The hardware is very well built and provides a good alternative to build
Several loops easily
Beautiful switcher and powering solution
I used this to avoid the classic tapdancing if you've got a pedalboard where you need multiple changes at a time. Sort of like a stripped back GigRig or Carl Martin type switcher, you can program in patch changes so that by pressing one switch you engage or disengage multiple loops (i.e. a delay, a drive pedal and a compressor) simultaneously.
A nice addition is the ability to power pedals from the StompControl, 2x 9 V 100 mA, 2x 9 V 300 mA, 1x 9 V 500 mA give plenty of flexibility and for instance you could power a couple of Strymon pedals with the 300ma, most normal pedals will cope with the 100ma, and a more power intensive pedal like a Strymon Iridium you could power with the 500ma out.
A solid feeling and looking pedal, and the colour scheme is a nice alternative to some of the more boring looking stuff...
For the price of most of the competitor's power supplies you can also have a very decent loop switching device!
Very good switcher
I was looking for a loop switcher that was well priced and not complicated to use. I only use a handful of pedals so I calculated this was the best option for me.
The built in power option is really cool and good and saves space on your board. It’s simple two button edit/save is great, and makes saving real easy. The dedicated tuner/mute button is very handy too.
My only issue with this unit is that there is no bank down button. I’m currently only using 1 bank so it’s not a deal breaker for me, but if you use 3 or for banks you have to cycle through them all.
I’m really happy with how this is working for me and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a simple setup.
