Harley Benton TE-90FLT VW Deluxe Series Reviews
Amazing Tones
I love the look of T-style guitars but i'm not fussed on the single coil sounds (it's more the hum the comes with them that I don't like); I saw this and took the plunge.
Pros:
- The Roswell pickups have a unique sound, like a P90 without the hum, amazingly responsive to pick attack, crystal cleans and punchy crunch.
- Neck profile is similar to an EVH Wolfgang, feels great in the hand.
- It's quite lightweight.
- Nice fret job. The earlier HB guitars had a reputation of poor fret jobs, mine arrived with an 'Inspected' label, and arrived IN TUNE - which is a first for any guitar!
- The pickups, they're so good that I need to mention them again.
Cons:
- Mine was slightly yellower in colour than pictured.
Summary:
If you're on the fence then I would recommend that you go for it, fantastic tones, fantastic responsiveness. It's one of those guitars that's hard to put down!
If you're thing of buying... Do it.
This guitar far exceeded my expectations, the neck and fret work are perfect, the set up was great (intonation/action/truss rod all perfect), the chamber/belly cut make it quite light for an ash bodied guitar, the electronics/tuners work perfectly, I have has zero tuning issues so the faux bone nut is also well cut and the pickups have a bright quality that cuts through any mix and they really have their own "voice" like a P-90's bite but it still has the qualities of a humbucker, just a wonderful instrument and a joy to play.
Pros: The neck and fret work as I say are perfect and the pickups are just so unique.
Cons: I have checked the guitar so many times looking for a flaw and I haven't found one yet... Some people might not like the reverse headstock maybe??? That's all I've got.
In summary... Most things in life are subjective so all i can say is my Harley Benton Te-90 FLT is one of the best guitars I've ever played, to me it is worth 10x what I paid and I would recommend that if you are thinking of buying this guitar just do it.
Buy it.
I am an experienced guitar owner and I have played A LOT of guitars.Nuff said about this.
I bought this guitar for 2 reasons:
-It is a beauty.
-Wanted to check the quality of an HB guitar.
First of,if guitars like this, with that price, were being made in the 70's-80s' some well known brands would have closed their BIG factories...
Beginners and guitar freaks are extremely lucky with the guitar production nowdays.
Cheap guitars are extremely well built.Better than some ''rare'' guitars of the old times that worth some thousands.
Buying those guitars has a completely different reason.
The TE90 is a well built guitar and it is just unbelievable that you can have this thing in your collection for under 200 euros:
-Neck is awesome and easy to play.
-Finish 99% perfect(I never care about this though)
-Fret job is professional
-Tuners:They have a cheap feel but it comes as a surprise to realise that they hold the tuning extremely well.
-Pickups:Hmmm..The neck pick up is marvelous.
There is something that I don't like in the bridge pick up.
It's good for chords BUT when it comes to leads it's a little bit harsh.
2 screws were not straight and there is a slight difficulty in setting the desired height.
Too bad they can't be replaced by a normal size humbucker.
Sound wise they are vintage sounding.
The overall sound is something between a Tele and a LP.
NOT something to die for but with a character of it's own and good enough to enjoy playing.
Conclusion:
Don't hesitate to buy this guitar.
Life is short and (unless you have expensive rent) we need cheap, beautiful, quality products that make us happy.
I guess the price will be good for after sale too.
In case you want to add some cash for the rent...
Excellent
This guitar is worth far more than its priced at. If your looking for a tele style guitar that has great tone and a little flair at a great price than this is it. Play ability is awesome, pickups are magic and the neck is easy to traverse. I've used this for anything from clean melody to even high gain metal, seriously!. its amazing.
Very nice guitar..
I waited about 4 months for this very popular axe to be back in stock. I guess the word has got out about how awesome this guitar really is. I can't say anything negative about this one. I love everything about it. Reverse headstock is unique. Plays great.
for the money its great
using it as a one song guitar with open b tuning and it does its job perfectly. The fretboard has a good feel and I am pleasantly surprised by the sound of roswell pickups.
I love this guitar..
This is my first guitar.. I play the violin but i can tell this guitar sounds amazingly good..Well done Harley Benton!
(came with one of the pickups a bit angled..but i don't think has any impact on the sound)
I'm stunned
The TE 90 is excellent. Shipping, fit and finish fantastic. Sound quality is on top.
I own 14 guitars and I'm 66 years old. I've been playing for 52 years. I absolutely am blown away over this guitar. I'm ordering 2 more guitars today and will be a future customer. Look out Fender/and Gibson.
Tele TE-90 FLT Vintage White Perhaps best guitar ever made
This guitar far exceeded my expectations as a guitar in sound, affordability, it's unique look, feel and balance, and playability. I am still amazed by the finish, the pickup sound, and high quality craftsmanship of this guitar. At first, I was trying to figure out how to play this guitar, because the action was low and soft, which I like and love but I was used to really working a guitar to get sounds out of it. This guitar simply sounds like one of the $1,000 plus (I'm from the USA) guitars from a USA company (made in Mexico/China/USA), just in regards to the material let alone the sound in that it almost sounds equal, like a 9.5 to 10 on a 1 to 10 scale. I mean I've played other expensive guitars and the TE-90 FLT VW is amazingly light action, so it's hard to get adjusted to the feel and playability. But it's great for jazz, chords. I know it's not expensive, but it feels expensive and I really want another one just so I can play this one hard. I baby this one as if it was a $1,000 guitar, because it just sounds, plays, looks, and plays like one. It's very unique sound, since it's chambered under the pickguard like other another USA guitar style from California with FLT humbucker but this TE-90 sounds equal if not better. It has a jazzy kind of vibe and sound or a little blues or rock too. Really it plays everything, but I love it for chords. The neck just feels right (I like thin/slender necks) since my fingers are not long. Also, the headstock is really unique and you may not like it but I do for it's uniqueness. The weight is perfect, not too light or too heavy. The fretboard is a good flatter radius but not too flat. When you play this you will be able to feel and hear the high quality right away. I'm glad I have this one guitar in my arsenal/toolbox because it has a really warm sound with the two humbuckers and chambered pickguard area. The look is very unique/cool. The fretboard is so playable, once you get used to low action and soft touch, that you can play for hours and forget about the time. The maple fretboard and frets are a bright sound. It really begs you to play it. You can also really shred on it too or go slow and jazzy. I love the belly cut. The only con I have about this guitar is the pickguard does get scratched easily (but it's a pickguard after all); I think it might just be the plastic is not glossy enough, but that's a good thing too, it gives it a different softer look. I'm getting the Three Tone Sunburst, when I have the change because it's a really excellent guitar overall. --Marco, USA
Great, great guitar!
The fit, finish, play ability and sound of the Roswell Fullerton-Style pickups are fantastic. What an extraordinary instrument! Buy one!
Good side-bad sides
Hi, i had so many guitars even big g-f names. This guitar has nice sound ,good looking. I love especially pickups.
But bad sides , poor fret job.It has holes under frets ! I see like this first time. Some high frets .Classic sharp edges but easy fixed.
Pretty heavy but you want light guitar you have to pay ten times more.
Sound:Nice and clear a little bit weak bass .
Nice woods.
overall good for money.
