Harley Benton TUBE15 Celestion Reviews
It's a little gem
I bought this to go with my D'Angelico Premier Tammany LS SVSB and I use the Harley Benton AirBorne 5.8GHz Instrument radio link. In my stone walled yard the sound is everything I need. The warm tones are a treat and give my playing a real lift. It's also beautiful to look at.
Finally the sound I was looking for
Before this one I had two solid state amplifiers. Nux Mighty 50X which I changed the speaker with a Celestion V12-60 speaker and after which I was not satisfied with the sound. The other is the Positive Grid Spark 40, which is interesting with its application and emulations of various pedals and speakers, but that dark sound that lacks treble was not good enough for me. I realized that I wanted a clean tube sound and would modify it with pedals. As soon as I turned on the Harley B. Tube 15, I knew that the sound was much better, straight out of the box. The ratio between what was bought and what was received is incredible... The price is very, very favorable. and this amp stays in my home.
tube tube why not before?
i am a fairly new guitarist and a friend convinced me that tube amps are something else from the digital modeling i have. and boy, was he right!?
i am a learner in my 50's and i didn't want to spend too much on a tube head and cabinet. i read a lot of positive review about this amp and i have to say that it sounds good, so good that makes me aware i didn't know the real sound of my guitars.
the harmonics in the sound you do not achieve in digital, make the difference and the distorted sound is what i hear on records.
in my small room is very much too loud and i use the 1w output, which is really enough and i can saturate well at lower volumes, so i do not need to buy an attenuator on the side. i use my pedalboard modeler into the fx send return at the back and it works great.
nice beige vintage color and light for transportation, has spring reverb , which works.
one thing i wish they made different was instead of the footswitch for reverb, a distortion channel, which would have been more useful imo.
general tone knob and tmb equalizer finish the features.
very happy with it, for that price is unbeateable.
Nice Quality and pure tube sound
A good quality amp at the fraction of the price of anything close to it. The only issue is really the depth of sound options is lacking but works good with pedals.
Rock was meant to be heard through this amp.
The factory valves had a shorter life than I expected. Once replaced this amp is an awesome, loud, angry and very naughty piece of gear. When Dimed this amp can make ears bleed. I only wish I had another two for a 3 amp rig.
Great compared to price
If you're not able to get som good sound of this, you should probably evaluate your guitar skills. The reverb is not that great, and the speaker can be updated to make it sound even better. Plenty of valve mojo for those who knows what that means.
Wow! This is a great little amp
I have been looking for a boutique valve amp to use for studio recording. This amp fits the bill nicely. Not only has it got a master gain, effects in/out, contour control but it also allows you to attenuate the volume to 1 watt which is still pretty loud and great for recording. Nicely made and capable of lots of tones. Thoroughly recommended.
Excellent tone ..
Bought this based on reviews from various online sources, it is as good as reported, I changed the speaker to Hempback giving better touch sensitivity, and replaced the internal anemic hook up cable ~ sound is very clear yet velvet like on the ear, very expressive..
Also changed the tubes out with gold pinTungsol 12ax7's and EL84's matched pair, it has opened up the treble beautifully, the tone now has a sweet harmonic bloom to the notes..
Overdrive harmonics are quite a joy on the ear, midrange has good transparency without hardness, a very vocal like sound..
Surprised at the volume for 15 watts! 1 watt setting is plenty...
This amp is well worth the money even before my upgrades, I find it impossible to regret purchasing,
This is an amp for life, it's staying 🖖
Unspoken gem
I spun the wheel buying this as I'd never heard it played in person but I can tell you now, I couldn't be further from disappointment.
The quality of this amplifier is absolutely outstanding! The sound is a par match with with the Blues Jr for almost a quarter of the price!
It still fails to amaze me months on!
Nothing better for the price
I had bought a new guitar, a Jaguar, for the first time since I was 19,over twenty years ago and I needed to find an amp. I thought I'd be happy with a solid state like the Katana but in-store I couldn't handle it. After watching a few YouTube videos I thought I'd take a gamble on this amp and I'm incredibly glad I did!
I immediately heard the tube sound and response I was after when I plugged it in. Sure it wasn't quite the same as the stack I had back when I was in bands but I wasn't going to get that from a little one speaker combo!
Now that some time has passed and I've played through it for over a year, the sound has gotten both warmer and crunchier. It genuinely sounds amazing in almost a jcm-600 sort of way. With a ds-1 or a getaway driver this amp is fantastic. Hell, even just the built in overdrive can sound quite lovely l, my stepdaughter playing radio head on my jag with the built in overdrive quite honestly moved me.
If you're after that sort of sound, just get this. For the money you really won't find better.
Very affordable, Top sound for the price
I can sum up the review in one sentence:
IT CANNOT GET BETTER FOR THIS PRICE!!!!
Seriously, very nice little amp for home use and small jam sessions.
One piece of advice for people starting out is that there is no perfect amplifier/instrument (unless you have custom builds like the pros).
You will NEVER find 100% satisfaction in materialistic things in life. There will always be something better available. You need to calm down and settle with what is 'good enough' for you. If you are a beginner and are low on cash, this might be the PERFECT choice :) Really!
Fantastic
My 1st tube amp after 3 three katanas. It's absolutely fantastic . So musical . Best guitar thing I've ever bought.
I'm Impressed
I'm not an amp snob, but I sure do like this amp. I've been using a Katana 100 212 mk ii for the last three years and decided to switch things to try this amp. I really really like it. I'm not going to ramble on, there are other great reviews and reviews on the web.
My only con is, the knobs have little resistance and they are easily bumped out of setting while changing another knob. Would have been nice to have a bit more resistance. Example, changing the bass and bump the mid, the mid gets thrown out of a very fine tuned setting. Have to find the sweet spot again. Other than that....no regrets buying this amp.
Amazing
Love this amp. I think it's cheap because it's simple. There is only one channel and no voicing options.
But it does a fantastic job.
It does old school crunch really well.
Reverb is really really good.
Cleans are fantastic.
Takes pedals well.
Sounds great in band setting. Seems to hold its iwn space in the mix really well without needing overpowering volume.
It's just a pleasure to play. Very responsive with an indefinable "valveness".
Great little amp
This little amp punches well above its price point.the sound from the Celestion 70’s speaker is good, and good enough for me as I only play at home for my own enjoyment.
I love the colour and appointements, although I struggle to see the settings on the mirrored fascia (I am visually impaired).
My only gripe being that I’m not a fan of a perminantlly connected power lead, but I can live with it.
It takes pedals really well, has a good reverb too…
I have a boss katana 50,orange crush 20,but this is the amp that I’m always using…says it all really!
Great little amp
I have this amp for home use and I love it.
The tone is just what I was looking for....Clean but on the edge of breakup. If you are looking for an amp with a lot of clean headroom then it's probably not for you. If you like a little dirt, then it's worth a look (Blues/classic rock). I usually have the gain on 3 and the volume on 4 and it's plenty loud. In fact it can get really loud for a 15 watt amp.
All in all, great value.
Great tube amp
Amazing tube amp, and it is extremely loud for home use. Off course in the studio and in small events is also very nice!
Decent choice for a low price
I was very satisfied with this purchase and I am using for about 2 months now. It's perfect for rehearsals, the amp clean and distorted sounds really good. However I put the gain to about 1.5/10 most of the time and use pedals to add onto it, it sounds awesome. Couple of times I took it on stage it was great as well, plenty of volume. The FX loop feature is really nice. As for bedroom playing, it is usable, but even at 1W it's pretty loud.
fantastic sound for the money and good quality
Have 4 valve amps and this holds it own in tone and quality of sound compared to amps 6 times the price of this 1w to 15watt , just buy it you wont be disappionted
