Harley Benton Valuestrings CL Normal Reviews
Not great
They sounded pretty flat after only a week and the E string refused to stay put, untying itself and unravelling when tuning up constantly. Ended up having to restring with a higher quality set...
As good as others
Just bought these strings for an old classic guitar, beaten up by years of beach and scouts playing. Was by first guitar, bought 20 years ago.
These strings just do what they need to do, sound is nice and they broke in quite fast.
I would by again, as value strings
satisfied
Thank you for good quality and price of this product.
Very durable and easy maintenance.
I will certainly do more orders and give to my friends.
Come on, you can get 100's of these
Bought something like 10 packs of these for my little brother, who is learning classical guitar.
They stay in tune quite nice, just restring them properly and you won't have any problems. If you're a beginner, who just needs to change strings time to time (to get nice tone out of them, and no - just can't get nice tone with old strings), then these are for you.
For the price, you just can't go wrong with this product. They work as a perfect backup strings.
And if my little brother is happy with them, you should be too.
Overall: 8/10
Why pay more ?
I'm sure there's many people who would claim a vast difference between these strings and strings of 10x the price but I really don't hear it myself. They are perfectly acceptable synthetic nylon strings for acoustics.
I am quite close to just buying loads of packs of HB strings as strings, for me, in the past were always a mournful thing to buy, 10 euros a pop or thereabouts in the local shop and, while not bank-breaking, if you have many guitars (as I do) then it soon begins to add up.
I'm really glad HB started this no frills string range but, unlike most "no frills" brands, these are actually really good quality, in my eyes. I can't really think of anything negative to say about them. They hold their tone well and are well made strings, nothing wrong with them whatsoever.
I think it's a good idea to always have a few packs of these laying around. For the price they're an absolute steal (like a lot of Harley Benton stuff) and considering you can buy many packs for the price of 1 pack of "big name" strings it seems nonsensical not to go with this option. Give them a try sometime, it's hardly going to break the bank, and I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised.
I only wish HB did string packs for 7 string guitars but I guess their strength lies in the volume of production runs and 7 strings are always "a bit on the periphery" in terms of people needing parts etc.
Anyway, definitely pick some of these up and try to spot the difference with much more expensive brands, I would say you'll notice very little considering the difference in price !
decent for such a low price
The 3 low strings are great but the 3 high feel a bit cheap and seem to have too much treble compared to the warm low strings. These strings settle into place very quickly and hold tuning very well, great to string up and play right away without too much breaking in needed.
As good as more expensive strings
I hear no compromise in tonal quality in comparison to more expensive strings. No problem with lasting either. Will buy again. The same impression about some other Harley Benton products.
Real value
Have had these strings on a classical guitar for three weeks now, they took a few days to settle down, I play this guitar every few days at home and they stay pretty much in tune, I would say these strings are at least as good as strings costing say 3 times as much, I bought 2 sets of these strings and will put a set on my Harley Benton Nashville Custom Nylon guitar when the time comes to change, then I'll be able to compare the 2 sets, one of which is the set on the guitar from the manufacturer, in short I'm very pleased with the purchase, Thank you x.
well made and good sounding strings :)
I use this strings for about 2 or three years and I'm really really happy with them. I buy them always
They're sounding good and are really cheap, so I've got always backups at home.
I think they're not last as long as elexir, but you can buy 10 packages of them for only one elixir. ;)
I think they sound identical (or nearly better) than Ernie Balls, Rotosound etc. and cost about 1 / 5 of them, thats why I think it's okay.
I highly recommend those strings, especially for the price. You can't make anything wrong with them. :)
Ok
The strings are ok. Maybe nothing I would put on for a classical concert but more for the camping trip with the guys. More the type of strings you buy one or two extra sets of just in case.
Value 4 money strings!
These are nice strings for your average classical guitar. Light and easy to tune. I've used these strings on most of my classical guitars and the performance is good. They're cheap too! Look elsewhere if you need a very expensive set of concert strings for your important exams.
Solid performers
Good warm sound, stay in tune rather well, with a rather low price.
It is important to change nylon strings every now and then (maybe every two months or so to keep that aural shimmer) and these strings fill the bill perfectly.
Not called "Valuestrings" for nothing
I was skeptical buying the cheapest classical strings I could find but no regrets so far. As a casual classical guitar player I can't really hear the difference from more expensive ones. One thing to keep in mind before stringing your guitar is they have kept costs down by cutting them in bare minimum lengths. Still long enough.
Not the best strings in the world..
..but definitely not the worst!
These are very okay strings I throw on my cheap nylon-string guitar. They sound okay but kind of wear out fast if you play a lot.
Great value! :-)
A budget choice for strings
I bought these to replace a set of D'addarios, and the difference is pretty obvious. These are cheap and as the price would suggest, the tone and durability are a bit lackluster. I only got about half of the playtime I usually get from strings before I need to switch with these. One good thing I need to mention though, is that I didn't get any of the strings to break even with a rougher playstyle.
you get what you pay for
I tried these harley benton nylon strings on my classical guitar a couple nights ago. It took some time for the strings to settle in and stay in tune, but that was fixed by rigorous practicing. The strings don't necessarily sound bad, but they don't have the same nuances my favourite budget strings do. I would suggest paying a little bit more and try the slightly more expensive strings first. For the price I paid for these, I can't really call them a bad buy.
Good enough strings
Bought these strings for a 1/2 sized nylon string acoustic. The guitar sound's nice with these strings and for my ears just as good as with some other, more expensive ones. highly recommended, cheap but great nylon strings.
Classic buy
For the price of these strings, you simply cant go wrong. I only pick up my spanish guitar every few weeks, but these strings remain bright and loud for a long time, and hold the tuning very well. Nice crisp even tone. highly recommended
Works for me.
Being a newcomer to replacing classical strings perhaps my ear is not sufficiently tuned to determine or distinguish differences in tone and timbre between budget and high cost brands, however these strings do the trick for me. The fundamental question that I keep asking myself is - are stings costing ten times as much, ten times better? Whatever the answer, they are certainly better for my wallet!
