Great quality stand

This is a great quality stand. Well built and not too heavy either. I only marked it down slightly for two reasons. 1. The clips do tend to break after a while, the springs pop out and the plastic clamps break. Having Said that, they are used on the road and take a beating. 2. The boom arm and stand are held together with a locking system that slackens off after time and doesn't hold them together solidly anymore.

Having said that I have owned some of these stands for about 5 years now and they are still going !

Solid as a rock.

I upgraded to this from a ¤20 Millennium stand that fell apart after a few weeks in a studio. This stand is so solid I can't believe I didn't upgrade sooner. Don't cheap out with mic stands! All my stands will be Hercules from now on.

Hercules boom stand

I bought this stand as I was fed up of the friction clamp types wearing out to the point where the boom clamp can't be tightened.

I love the Hercules locking boom clamp - it locks firmly in position and doesn't wear out, so you don't get the slowly drooping microphone syndrome that happens with friction style clamps. I also like the big clamp knobs - easy to find & tighten on a dark stage with sweaty hands!

It's too early to say how the rest of the stand will cope with being thrown in the back of the van every weekend, but the construction is solid looking, so I expect at least 3 years of heavy gigging (70 per year) out of this.
