Just great <3
My first good pre. This changes the game, in terms of audio quality but also because of how fun it is. The eq changes the sound A LOT. It's almost impossible for me to bypass it when recording stuff. Build quality is really great, and it's very easy to use. The only "bad" thing I could say is that the sound, even though it's great, it might not be as good as the real thing. But hey, just see the price of a real Nece 1073 and you'll come back here... All in all, this is an essential if you want to get better at recording and producing. Love it.
A classic preamp-eq in a modern package
The 1073 is likely to be the most famous pre-eq in the world. This time the guys at Heritage Audio have proposed a modern reissue which uses SMD technology mixed with classic transformers and inductors. The result is awesome. Big good sound, an always useful equalizer and a sensible price tag. Good for every thing just like its father with a very small difference with the original.
I use it either for tracking or mixing. It is good for voices and instruments with a special mention for the acoustic guitars. The D.I. input is not as good as others devices I own (namely the API 512C).
The external power supply does not seem to have effects on sound.
The unit is well built and reliable (even with the small torque selectors). I had no problem so far.
Amazing unit
Not just impressive within its price bracket but a generally amazing unit.
I had this unit de-racked on some foam for my intitial testing/ playing around with it as I wasn?t convinced it would be great considering the price, but it was racked up within 5/10 minutes.
Only thing I don?t like about it is that I can only afford one!
