Great quality, poor sound

I’ve purchased the guitar guided by other reviews online suggesting it is of comparable quality to Gibson ES-335s or even Gibson Custom Shop ES-335s.

While the quality of wood, hardware, finish, fret job and of course neck shape playability itself left little to be desired (aside from maybe the tuners being less robust and stable in pitch compared to Gibsons), the sound of the Heritage H-535 is nowhere close to Gibson semi-hollows in my opinion.

I have not had the chance to compare it to a current Gibson USA standard production, but compared to Gibson Memphis it is night and day (not to mention Gibson CS). Perhaps it’s just that SD pickups are that much worse than MHS II…
