Good for the price
Nothing too special, for this price range it's worth it
Awesome first six string bass
I'm living with this bass for three months now, and let me tell ya, it is a solid instrument for anyone who wants to start using the six string bass. It looks massive but is incredibly light. It is very well built, the fit and finish is great. It is a dual truss rod neck, so it can be tricky to set up yourself, not Rickenbacker tricky, but you need to be careful nonetheless. Set it up to your liking, and it will be a joy to play. Mine didn't need extensive work, just lowered the action and adjusted the neck. Electronics are reasonably good. there is no need to recite the spec sheet...it does what it says on the box. They are active electronics, so they offer a bunch of tonal shaping possibilities. Overall, it is a solid instrument for anyone who wants to start using a six string bass and doesn't want to shell out four figures for an instrument. It is by all means not for a beginner who never played bass before. I do own a 4 and a 5. The transition from one to other wasn't a big deal, but a 6 takes some getting used to. Definitely recommended!
The best instrument I've played
Bought this on a whim and fell completely in love with it. Everything from the sound, the aesthetic, the playability- brilliant. Ibanez's system of dual humbucker, split coil and a pot to fade between the two is a winning formula, especially with the 3-band EQ. It's sturdy, sounds excellent and is incredibly versatile, and at the price point it's at, it's completely worth it.
Top product for the money
It is on the budget side of the soectrum. But it is a really good guitar, came in perfect form already. And plays so smooth. Above my expectation really
Excellent!
Definitely the best 6 - string bass you can buy for that price. Beautiful matte black wood. It is sensitive to breaking though. The sound is very clear and the knobs do as they promise and much more. Best purchase I've made.
Upgrading from 5 to 6 String Bass
If you want to level up on your Bass playing from 5 string to String Bass, then you should buy this one. Ibanez is one of the Top guitar brands and its affordable for a newbie Six string Bassplayer. I'm sure that I will buy another one from Ibanez.
This is my first 6-string bass, and I must say that I am quite pleased that my not-that-big-hands can handle such a beast of a neck. What I like about this instrument is that it provides a ton of tones. It is an active bass, having a 3-band eq, and also the 3-way switch. You can get tones from Jaco Pastorious up to Fieldy from Korn, which is quite impressive. One thing that I still have to work on is intonating it and adjusting the height of the pick-ups (seems that the lowest strings might distort when strings plucked quite hard, and the pick-ups are as low as possible).
I purchased this bass because I sometimes play heavier genres and I wanted to get that growling low B string, and also I enjoy playing chords. Having 6 string gives you more possibilities of choosing the notes for your chords and create some angelic music.
Pros:
-good intonation
-tone versatility
-cool finish
Cons:
-pick-up adjustment (but I'm still figuring this one out)
Definitely good for a first 6 string
Plays and sounds amazing.
Amazing bass for the money.
I'm in no case an experienced bassist, since this is my very first bass, but I'm more than happy with it. Aesthetically, it looks sleek with its matte finish and the wood texture showing through. It's decently lightweight and well balanced, considering it's a 6 string. The neck is thin, fast and very comfortable, making playing it way easier than you might expect. As for the sound, I play through an audio interface and it's really versatile, the EQ is responsive and along with the switch it gives you many ways to shape your sound. The low B is very full sounding on mine as well. The hardware looks solid for now and it holds tuning well. The only minor downside I can think of at the moment is that when it came it required a minor setup and one of the EQ pots was slightly loose, which was quickly fixed with the turn of a screw. Now it plays like a dream with rather low action. All things considered, I highly recommend this bass for someone looking for a good, affordable 6 string.
go for the fingers
i have long fingers so this works great with me
